Title: Ever had bitcoins fly out of your wallet without you actually sending them? Post by: someguy123 on January 23, 2012, 10:20:16 PM Well, today I had something worrying happen to me, I saw 3.6BTC get sent from my bitcoin client without me doing anything, which ended with me tracing IP's linked to the address, googling the address and everything.
The answer is, I couldn't figure it out, BUT I was thinking that I might have redeemed one of my addresses privkeys into mtgox... Even though there was no signs anywhere in mtgox, eventually after 6 confirms it showed up. That makes sense.

Constantly monitor and credit you? I think it's because MtGox doesn't necessarily guarantee that those coins will stay at that address, just that your account will be credited with those coins. It doesn't matter if they move from that address, just so long as they don't move from your MtGox account.But yeah, I wouldn't add a private key to your wallet that has also been redeemed at MtGox or weird stuff like this will happen. I believe that feature was to redeem the 'Physical Coin' private keys, not your wallets. But hey, the same rule applies if it can be done; it will be done. Assuming that the key in question is for a transaction with at least 6 confirmations, it should happen pretty much instantly, or most with a single block delay. |
