Title: APU + discrete question
Post by: KKAtan on January 25, 2012, 11:30:06 AM
A laptop with Llano APU and 400 shaders.
With additional gpu and 480 shader.

Will I be able to mine with all 880 shaders?

No guessing, I need to know for sure.

Probably not.  OpenCL is restricted to the iGPU only.  I don't know for sure, though.

I have one about the same. gets ~40 mh on the APU and ~70 on the discrete. It crashes half of the time when you stop mining.

Just a little curious, does it make unbearable noise when you run bitcoin on both?

Are you able to adjust voltage for the discrete?

No it doesn't. The fans runs loud, but no other noises. I haven't tried to raise the voltage but the people on those forums have guides on overclocking and overvolting I think.

OP, you are aware than laptops are not engineered for this kind of usage?
That heat will not only shorten the life of the APU, it will also damage the fan having to run at full speed.
I suggest you reconsider your plan of using a laptop as a mining rig.
