Title: Any Electronics expert? Need cheapest electronics parts.
Post by: rexcoin on January 26, 2012, 11:34:46 PM
DISPLAY:
I need REALLY REALLY CHEAP one inch or smaller text/pixel displays. .15 BTC or less
Seriously I need them cheap, i was even considering using heat sensitive mood rood ink with paper to make a display - although cheap its harder to do what i need a lcd to do :-P.

MICROCONTROLLERS:
Looking for in the 0.04 BTC range for a microcontroller - i dont care if its a not known name, as long as there a decent compiler for it i take it... Will pay upto .10 BTC IF there is a basic compiler for that microcontroller.

Anyone do PCB designs here at bitcoin?
My project is rather simple, i need to make a watch - with a mini usb + cheap lcd, cheap microcontroller, infrared transceiver, 512 kb eprom. and i know for a FACT im missing a few more parts :-P - anyway anyone willing to make a prototype if they know which parts i need?

For my project The most i can spend is .6 BTC per watch (i will buy cases/ wristbands later) - infrared transceiver is optional if it reduces the costs greatly which i doubt though..

I need the cheapest cost watch to be made.

Yes I know i can buy from chinese sellers on wholesale sites - but for custom products its minimum 30,000 items :-/ - plus i rather buy the electronics in bitcoins!

SOOOO - WHAT I NEED EXACTLY?
Electronic Parts for the Watch.
PCB Designer - so i can just ship the design + parts to a company to make the product.
(maybe) a programmer to design the code for the watch.
PAYING BY BITCOINS ONLY

I can do PCB layout/design in eagle.
I have mostly worked with ethernet enabled devices, based on Atmega MCU.

If I am to do the initial design and not just layout, I will probably need 15-20hours, plus expenses, for a design and prototype, well probably 2-3prototypes to get the details right, so its not exactly cheap.

I have many passives, that can be used to lower the initial cost, like 0805resistors, caps, 16/25mhz xtals, etc.
And I can make short runs in DIY reflow oven, provided the board is mainly SMD based.

However all your prices are very low, to get near those prices, you probably need bulk, ie. 4k+
To get professional assembly below 2$, even more.
6 SMD parts with RoHS assembly at advanced assembly will be 11$ each, not including shipping, stencil, etc.
