Just registered to warn you about using Intersango/Britcoin. Couple of weeks ago I was pleased to see bitcoin exchange rate going up again so decided to buy some bitcoins. I put some money into Intersango account on the 17th January. The funds did not get credited to my account so I tried contacting Intersango support and got a reply on the 19th Jan: Quote Hi, UK banking is currently offline. We do not have access to online banking due to a technical error on LLoyds' side. We await a resolution from LLoyds. I tried sending another 2 messages to support on 24th and 26, but now they are just ignoring me. It was an early experiment and its unexpected growth forced a rethink. Patrick Strateman led the development of the new platform; Intersango. Over several months with a fulltime team of 3 programmers it was crafted to take us from our humble basement origins with the experienced gained from operating Britcoin. Due to it's success and growth we are proud to keep Intersango in operation. We will continue to provide fast, secure and honest service without underhanded marketing and with absolutely no hidden fees. Intersango So now not only that I don't know if I ever get my money back, but even if I do, I will be charged to use it. In my opinion, this is beyond a joke. I wired some money to Intersango on the 23rd after they claimed that all of their problems were resolved. The money still doesn't show up in my account and they have not yet replied to a support ticket that I opened on the 25th.

They have had banking problems lately which they have been honest and open about. So they are going to charge a fee, most other exchanges do this anyway. I swear to god, if I ever open an exchange I am never responding to customer issues on the forum directly --ever. You respond even once and BAM, the entire forum becomes a cesspool of scattered obfuscated customer support tickets you didn't even know existed, all counting against the business credibility since "you usually frequent here".If you are having trouble send an email to support@intersango.com It's ridiculous and regardless of whether OP is a liar or the exchange is a scam--- why do people think bitcointalk.org is a customer support center? "It looks like the payment was sent using CHAPS, this cuts off the reference code and most of your name to make room for FFLOW in the reference area. In the future if you could try and have your bank send a Faster Payments transfer that would significantly reduce the chances of an issue like this occurring again." Ever heard of a phone? I think they do it because it usually seems to work. Usually when a thread pops up, the problem gets fixed. I agree with you though, it seems like this should be easily resolved through the exchange's website or contact info. From the frustration I've seen from some of these threads, I guess sometimes it isn't. I can actually completely understand why people do it, they want to be heard when they think nobody is listening. Doing this with us is actually counter productive. The time it takes to resolve an issue through the forums is significantly longer than through a support ticket, that means that not only did his issue take longer to get resolved but I wasted probably about an hour (in total) on addressing this thread. Bitcoins are about free market, and these guys seem to be against that. Only offering paxum and dwolla withdrawals is telling (they both require gov't ID). Bitcoins are about free market, and these guys seem to be against that. Only offering paxum and dwolla withdrawals is telling (they both require gov't ID). Usually businesses dealing with fiat currencies also have to deal with the laws regarding dealing with those currencies and be able to show some accountability if they want to remain in business. You may or may not agree with those laws, but good luck remaining in business if you ignore them. Are you in affiliated with them in any way? |
