What exactly is the most important thing in our life?

Existential crisis huh?

The short answer is the meaning that we give it. No-one else can dictate what is important in your life but you.

From an evolutionary standpoint it is clear to see a few things that you may find compelling.

Many would argue that we are defined by our relationships to other people and that we can find meaning through them.

This is one of those questions that each person can only answer for themselves.

I seek to find people out there that are like me and think in similar ways. I want to improve humanity. I want to do something that makes it better for other people in the future. I want to take a part in making things right.

There is no wrong answer.

the most important thing in my life is my family. They are my inspiration in moving forward to achieve all my goals and dreams. They are also the reason why i wake up each morning and work hard to help them with their everyday financial needs. I am thankful to our God our creator for giving me a wonderful and supportive family. No one can replace them no matter what. Blood is really thick than water.

Definitely my children. I want to give them the best education. I want to fulfill my dreams through them. I had to shelve some of my ambitions due to personal and monetary reasons. But I don't want the same to happen to my children.

If you ask me, I would say, health, family, money.

Life is the most important thing we have.

It is hard to pick one thing because the question is extremely open : what is the most valuable thing in your life? Why would you die for?

I would say the most important thing in my life is improving in every aspect and making better and better choices until making the correct decision is a habit and is therefore easy

I had a dream about this a few weeks ago where I was sitting at a table across from a mysterious man who asked me this.

Surprised, I thought for a moment or two, then said, "Love"

He smiled.

oxygen?

that might sound like a joke, but it isn't.. we all need oxygen. not the one with carbon monoxide. and it seems like nothing is being done to preserve it so.. yeah, we're all fucked!

Definetely making my girlfriend happy as much as I can. There's nothing more I love then seeing her smile.

I believe in reincarnation, so you don't actually die when your body dies, instead your soul finds a new body and you are reborn in a new part of the world with a new identity.

Your next birth & life depends how you spend your current one - call it Karma!
So the most important thing in your current life should be the way of living, so that you can have a better next life.

It has to be family, no doubt about that.

I am willing to have no money, terminal illness, or loose anything I own, just to have my family alive with me. If situation calls for it, I will give my life to save them.

Only helping others is not a good thing. Allways yourself on second place, itll kill you.

I'd say happyness... but lets face it.. we are all in it for mighty dollar... then retire.. and focus on happyness :)

It really depends:

Biologically; to breed.
Society wise; to be accepted by others.
Universally; nothing.

I totally agree. I just feel bad for his family. I hope hes talking about like his mother and brother or something like that and not his wife and kids.

To succeed in life you have to think about the emotions of others and care about them, they will care about you and you will achieve your goals

Objectively speaking nothing in your life or the physical world has been proven to have any "meaning".

Subjectively speaking its possible as an individual the whole everything is self created and you are indeed god therefore you decide the meaning.

The most important thing in my life are my family and friends. Without them I'd have nothing. They make me laugh, they make me cry, but most importantly they make me happy and I believe that is what makes life definitely worthwhile, for all of us.

What is nice and fun in life is the human interaction, hopefully real interaction, not online ;)

Having a great job or owning a great car or house.Why?Because if your in that situation you’ll happy, and if you’re financially stable your relationship runs smoothly no "money talks"...

The most important thing in life to me is being successful and and getting the opportunity to travel the world and try all different kinds of foods in the world

I would have to say Faith would be the most important thing. Without it, I can't properly love and guide my family to do what's right in life.

So if tomorrow a discovery was made which with all certainty denied the existance of god, you would stop loving your familiy properly? Not bashing or anything, was raised religious too.

It's love, without it, I can't survive.

Gravity ( Otherwise we'd just endlessly float through space )

Well, we need any physics law for that matter. Else we'd fall through the ground or float in the air. Or get pierced by everything on our path. Or nothing happens on any action we take!

Maintaining good physical and mental health would be at the top of the list for me.  That goes for those around me.  Not sure what could be more important then maintaining my sanity and being healthy while living in a healthy environment but for me that is the most important thing I value in this life.

Remain as healthy as possible and live a happy life. As of now it is sometimes still difficult at times, but I hope to find happiness at some point. There's still so much to see and experience!

This is a question that only you can answer yourself. Personally, I enjoy interacting with new people, it's amazing how many new things you can learn from just one person. I enjoy helping the people in my life.
