Title: Potential Bitcoin Killer - > Prohibited content in Blockchain possible!
Post by: Jonton on May 21, 2014, 11:25:39 AM
Hi all,

I am amazed that there is only a small resonance on this issue.
(Watch for "Stoned Virus Signature in the Blockchain"...)

The potential impact of this vulnerability for Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies:

->Once prohibited content is introduced in the blockchain, (through the same method) the possession of the respective block chain is punishable through authorities!

I ask you to call me an idiot.
(No irony)

p.s. F**K

p.p.s What is an alternative altcoin without that problem?

Best regards

Sure, it was only the signature of "Stoned" but...

Bomb instructions, Holocaust denial, gay propaganda, Islam jokes,.............could also be implemented into the Blockchain. Also encoded.

That could mean the prohibition of the Blockchain itself.
(Possession, dissemination of prohibited content....)

lol on the list of things that could potentially kill bitcoin I don't think this is a serious concern for anyone

Maybe.

Why is this not a serious concern for all?

Pls. give me some details/enlightment why my thoughts are technical and legally NOT relevant. (Example: ...because....xy)

Otherwise, just ignore me....simple is that.

I dontīt want to discredit Bitcoin. I want to discuss a single topic. And sure, iīm framing.
Thatīs what humans do. Get some social skills if you canīt handle that.

Back to topic?

Thx

It's probably just your antivirus being casually bad.  ::)

There have been a lot of discussions of this type of issue in the past which detail a lot of the issues, these deal with "prohibited content":

There have been many others dealing with the virus signatures in the blockchain.

Itīs not about an antivirus detection failure and a (harmless) signature of an old virus.

Itīs about  the possible implementation of prohibited content into the Blockchain with the same method, the "Stoned" signature was integrated.
(Transaction -> Comment line -> Insert Content -> Implementation into the Blockchain)

ah...thx Cr1776!!!

I will read that.

There may be new insights at any point from anyone, but a lot has been discussed on both the virus and prohibited content sides.  :-)

There's "prohibited content" on the internet too, I'm not concerned about them shutting the internet down.......

don't panic.

the core devs are 10 steps ahead of us:

http://sourceforge.net/p/bitcoin/mailman/message/30705609/

nothing is being done right now because there's no imminent threat.

In the US, you can avoid paying income taxes by writing "I am a tree" in all the boxes. My brother, Murphy G, tried this and beat the IRS. They wiped away his alleged debts. Hope it helps.

Poof, Bitcointalk is now hosting illegal content.
