Title: Looking for 500 BTC
Post by: td on April 20, 2011, 08:16:45 PM
This request has been finished. MagicalTux with MtGox was more than able to help me get this taken care of. Thank you.

I'd recommend you visit the bitcoin-otc irc chat. http://www.bitcoin.org/contact (http://www.bitcoin.org/contact)

The best way to gain trust would be to get a GPG-Authentication key.  It's a little tricky to set up, but it'll enable you to make transactions with people much easier, while building your own trust ratings in the process.  If you need help, just ask whoever's around. That worked for me :)

I'm looking for around the same at least (for PP$ preferably) but having a heck of a time figuring out how to get it without jumping through all kinds of hoops.  Bitcoin-otc seems like its mostly being used for discussion right now?  Anyone want to help the new guys out?

I am not necessarily new; however the person I purchased them from last time has not been responsive for a few days so I do not know if they are still around or not.  I am not looking to buy with something nasty like paypal.  I am looking to purchase with a bank transfer or your choice of method.  I do not think that MtGox has had the opportunity to fully implement their ACH plans yet.  I can do a US Bank transfer and will pay the transfer charges.

I went on otc and simply said that I'd like to buy ###btc in USD through paypal, but it was my first OTC transaction.  Someone jumped in and said they were willing to offer to sell, and they'd help me get set up.  Fortunately, I'd figured out the PGP process before then (which, like I said before, is tricky, and it's different per your OS)

If you let me know which OSs you guys use, I can try to track down some good information.  Tutorials exist out there, they're just tucked away in nooks and crannies of tech sites and blogs

also, I see that td wants to help one of you out...this is how it should be done :)

Won't hurt to register- I'm using windows XP.

I haven't done it since MagicalTux bought the site, but I have wired money to MtGox to fund my account in the past.

Thanks for the help -- I'm using Win 7.  Not a fan of pp here either but it was the easiest way to get started.  In the process of figuring out ACH with my bank and will (hopefully) be able to do that soon.

I can sell you 500 BTC for some sort of bank transfer (including ACH). Meet me on irc at #bitcoin-otc (freenode). Whenever I'm available at all, I'm available there.
