Title: moving wallet from blockchain to ??? Post by: jerrylemon on May 23, 2014, 08:35:18 PM relative newbie been using blockchain web wallet and wanting to move to a secure offline storage as i wont be looking to make any transactions in the near future.
I got a brand new laptop, truecrypt installed and encrypted the entire pc along with secure usb storage on ironkeys for additional offsite/offline backups. now my question is whats the best way to move my coins from blockchain to this new setup??? what wallet do you suggest? pardon my ignorance/newbiness Title: Re: moving wallet from blockchain to ??? as far as paper wallets i wanted to avoid those because i would like to put a few backups away in different locations long term so i would not have quick access to or be able to supervise them on a regular basis. This is why i purchased a couple ironkeys with Hardware/sodtware encryption. Armory i looked into but seems a little complicated having to run multiple softwares/updates.... as you guys can see im a a little confused on how exactly this cold storage / offline storage works.... if anyone can point me to a good guide or how to would be greatly appreciated. You don't need to backup it, but don't forget it! 3. Execute "wallet -l" and enter the password twice (you do not need to store it on disk). 4. Use any of the public addresses that the wallet has output to move your coins into the cold storage. For spending from your cold storage you do not need the full node. 1. Use tools/balio.go (or tools/fetchbal.go) to fetch a balance of the address(es) that you want to spend from. 2. Move the balance/ folder to your offline machine (where you have the wallet's executable). 3.
