There's a really good thread in the speculation forum: link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=60501.0). It explains basic trading terminologies as well, very useful for beginners.

Greatest piece of advice: Don't get greedy. You'll always win some and loose some; if you are winning don't push your luck.

Only two trading strategies actually work consistently.

1) Buy and hold an index fund.

2) Be Warren Buffett.

The rest is merely the human propensity to insist on finding patterns in noise.

I think you actually lose money due to the 0.6% fee.

Trading strategies are all the same, BTC, gold, USD, whatever. If you are investing in BTC you are long BTC but short everything else (ie dollars). If you invest in BTC-denominated asset (ie, invest in 'ABC BitCoin Co' WITH BitCoins) this is economically the same thing as swapping BTC for cash and then investing the cash in the 'ABC BitCoin Co'.

General Investing Strategy:

Read "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham (its dirt cheap and describes the Warren Buffet-style "Value Investing").

Read everything by Nassim Taleb so that you fully understand the following excerpt:
"""Many real life phenomena are not 50:50 bets like tossing a coin, but have various unusual and counter-intuitive distributions. An example of this is a 99:1 bet in which you almost always win, but when you lose, you lose all your savings. People can easily be fooled by statements like "I won this bet 50 times"."""
