Yes but the problem is, bitcointalk has a section for new altcoin announcements. This is clearly exploitet by scammers. Some coins are legit but some are, as you said, easily umasked as pump&dump scamcoins. At this point the moderators should do something about this issue. Some rules to enforce transparency.

I didn't mine VOOT because it reminded me of Artos and Stablecoin. Anon transactions through tor using trusted nodes. It didn't seem right to me.

My intuition. I also found it funny that the whitepaper wouldn't be out for a week because the "dev" was on holiday. How the hell do you go on holiday when a coin is about to launch. Why would the "dev" delete the main OP and just say "we got scammed". Its because they are the scammers themselves.

I honestly think that is the problem.  Exchanges essentially take bribes to add coins that are less than a few days old to get it added.  IMO a coin shouldn't even be allowed to be publicly traded until 30 days after it has been released.

DO A SKYPE CHECK WITH DEV have a little chat with him, make another account and chat again with the same DEV and compare his answers, if he is a real DEV then the answers will always be the same, if he is fake then he don't remember the answers that he gave yesterday ;)

Normally i'm totally against IPOs etc, but I did the test with Romancoin and with Greekcoin and based on the conversations i had it seems that they are real DEVs.

But what Bittrex could have done is, they knew who is the big seller, so they knew who was the scammer. Block his account and put all his money in a charity donation box.

You can not paint all developers with the same brush. This is the 'Wild West' days of crypto. Sooner or later the smack will be laid down and there will be regulations up the wazoo for CryptoCoins. There are a lot of scammers in this world simply because of the anonymity of it. Crooks look at it as open season.

Why? You are painting us all with the same brush. Just because VOOT appears to be a scam doesn't mean that all are. A premine is an acceptable practice. A dev could take a coin that was not premined and hammer down in the early days of mining with his farm, grab a few million and then flood the market. Over time the quality and reputation of the team will emerge, premined or not. For the record we have done a 1% premine of our new coin and approximately 91% of that premine will be given away. Premines are an excellent marketing tool.

It is always mind boggling to me when folks come to established coin threads (whether it be blackcoin darkcoin what have you) and spam us by saying "check out this coin, blackcoin is already too high but the ROI on <scamcoin> has 3000% potential!"

I understand the space is there because it's trading at like 300 sats - but it'll either be a scam like this or AsiaCoin or have trojans like dafuq or be a p&d (like bost/bank/yc/emc/fair/flutter/naut etc) that will leave a majority burned when they get dumped on and left holding bags.

I'm not saying more established coins means guaranteed profit and are open to whale manipulation, but having a solid dev, an enthusiastic community, lots of financial support and other things already built into the foundation of the coin definitely help. Plus the flip side to whales is investors with lots at stake that have the means to support it and aid in its success, which is easier to do than lots of people holding tiny amounts. I feel so much safer with long term investments (that have a higher probability for consistent growth) with a coin like black or even dark than the flavor of the day new alt that will chew you up and spit you out and leave you scratching your head.

At the very least invest smarter by doing your research, and always be on your toes.  

A trusted developer has taken over the lead on this coin so it is not a scam. Coin is back and is strong. I have no vested interest in this coin but the community has taken over and all looks good for this coin.

That was the amount set aside to develop the anonymity. It has been paid back so the development can proceed. Price has rebounded. Yeah some people got a turd in their pocket but the quick rebound of the coin has been amazing. It could have been a complete collapse but some good people paid a lot of money out of pocket.

question is. who has been that private pool mining this coin since start. at peak , regular pools added to 7-9 gh/s and the network hash was 220 gh/s 


now when no one wantt o mien this coin. overall pools barely make up 1-2 g/hs and the network has 40 gh/s

Bitcoin Plus actually did much better after the original developer left the coin and Seriouscoin and his team took over. So it could actually be a benefit to you holders of Voot. Only time will tell however.

No, there was no real scam. The premine was converted to 10 BTCs which was then handed off to the new dev who has taken over the development.
