Title: Bitcoin security - "big room" analogy
Post by: bitlotto on April 24, 2011, 12:44:16 AM
...begin shameless self promotion... 8)

I've haven't written anything of substance in a really long time.

I was trying to explain Bitcoin security to someone and was having a very hard time. All I got back was a blank stare. I hope this analogy 'kind of' explains what's happening behind the scenes...

Interesting analogy. Your last paragraph seems to be missing some line breaks though (and would look better if you used the HTML <ul> and <li> tags rather than a "handmade" list). I'd also go into trying to explain, after that last paragraph, why it's impossible to forge and steal things - just simple explanations like "because you need x information to do so, and if you don't have it, calculating it would take trillions of years".
