I'm using GUIminer and have been CPU mining but I didn't know I could have much better output with GPU mining, so how do I make the switch to GPU I know I have an AMD radeon HD3550M and that it accepts openGL and GUIminer uses openCL it's all quite confusing, can anyone tell me what I'm doing and give some links? I'm a fast learner so as long as the info is good and basic I'll be able to figure it out.

OpenGL is for graphic and is not OpenCL

ATI 3000 serie do NOT support OpenCL. Only from series 4000 and newer support OpenCL.

So, you can't gpu mine on your HD3550M.

In my GUI package I found a readme and it gave me a link to an app that is supposed to make my GPU support openCL, downloaded, and I'm unzipping it now.

Good news, it works but I am having connection problems with my pool, and any time I try to set up a solo miner it doesn't work.

It likely won't and even if it did a 3550M is such a pathetically weak GPU it likely isn't worth it.

It worked and gave me an openCL but it won't connect, my connection is fine because my CPU miners work, not sure where to go from here.

Given a used HD 5770 is ~$60 and is roughly 200x as powerful as your GPU (even if you got OpenCL working) it puts the economic value of your GPU at $0.30 unless you value your time at sub minimal wage chinese slave labor wages it would be better to invest a small amount and get a real GPU.  You won't get rich with a single 5770 but at least the token amount you will generate will be noticeable.

Another user that isn't very good with computers but think he can do miracles... if i said that 3000 series has no openCL, maybe it's true  :D

I have no money, that's why I'm mining, but I will be saving up for that, and I know enough to scan all downloaded files.

Still in school so I live with my parents, once that's not the case I'll worry about power consumption versus payout, for now I just want free money to buy things. Although this is taking quite some time, something for nothing is always worth it.

Why don't you just steal it out of their wallets?

Or ask them to invest in a GPU; assuming your electricity is cheap, split the profits.

Well it isn't free then.

You are simply taking $50 per month of electricity and turning it into $25 (or less) of Bitcoins.  Best thing to do would be tell your parents look I am wasting $50 in electricity to produce $25 in Bitcoins.  It would be cheaper for you to just give me $20 cash each month and in return I won't waste $50 of your money.

But maybe bitcoins will increase in price.
