The inclusions that are easy to see in the pictures are actually quite small, and they scatter light to give the brilliance a softer look. This is the very same concept behind some of the most valuable sapphires in the world from Kashmir. In those sapphires, rutile "silk" scatters the light to give them a very pleasing soft brilliance. In this Madagascan material, it is small crystals that grew inside of the host crystal. These are like baby gems growing inside of this rhodolite garnet!
