anyway in a bizarre cut and paste accident i sent this address 4 btc this afternoon.  if you received a mysterious 4 btc 2/29/2012 16:47 with this address if you could send me 3 back it will be a whole heck of a ton of good karma!

So, if it was a copy paste accident, think to whom did you send the 44.8 BTC that went to that address previously. If you sent BTC previously to that address then we know it was you who sent the previous and only transaction that the address has. Or were you the recipient of the 44.8 BTC that were sent from there and not the sender?

Did you copy it from a webpage? Talk about it man, it may help you to remember

He was doing me a favor I had him send me BTC for a game code and I pasted a address from my address book.

However, I found where it went I was reminded when someone posted it was sent 44.8 BTC. The only place I ever sent that amount was to MTgox! Since the address is still valid I have it in my account ! I hadnt logged in in forever I dont use it that often so had no idea. Wish they sent notification.

Thanks for everyone's help!

This might be a good time to bring this up; would visual hashing prevent such things occurring in the future.  I am sure we (usually) double check the address each time we paste it by checking the last few characters or something, but wouldn't it be nice if us Bitcoiners had integrated ways of posting a visual address?  Perhaps the technology isn't ready yet but Bitpay and the client could easily have such a feature.

This prove that it's important to manage our address books, append each address one clear label.
