Wow, I notice you're up to 705 coins already...

Nice website! Very informative and user-friendly. I'm sure I'll be spending some more time referencing it in the future.

You can't. No one can. This kind of thing has never happened before! I only hope the altcoin market isn't a giant bubble that is about to burst. Give me a few more months, please!! I just started!!

The website layout is simple and I like that. You don't need a fancy layout to have a great website. Well done.

I do have one suggestion: try to decrease the loading time on the Coin Listing pages. It took me 27 seconds to load http://cryptodatabase.net/coins-b (http://cryptodatabase.net/coins-b), which is way to long. I doubt that people would want to wait that long. You might want to try out Cloudflare (https://www.cloudflare.com/), it's free and it caches webpages for you (amongst other things), which makes everything a lot faster.

Thank you for your suggestion, I have implemented CloudFlare on top of my built in cache script I added. This may or may not help any though as the page load times is not caused by my server but rather from the mass amount of api calls the page makes to pull the coin trading information.

If I remove the coin trading information then the page will load almost instantly, 0.004 seconds on average.

However, I am working on an update but it is going to take me quite a while by myself to solve this issue. I am going to make a page for each coin that displays the information I already have and then the rest of the coin information.

Like my old version of the site, http://cryptodatabase.net/old

This is a lot of work though so it will be a while before its done.

Hmmm, I see. Why don't you use jQuery for that? The page itself would be loaded quickly and grabbing the information itself happens in the background? Much better in my opinion.

Well, you should check it out. jQuery is a Javascript library that makes a lot of things easier. For example:
Code:
$.get( "js/test.html", function( data ) {
  $( ".result" ).html( data );
});
Would load the "test.html" page in the background and puts the result ("data") into the "result"-class. It's well documented and there are a lot of people that could help you (for example on Stack Overflow).

Yes, I had referenced around 5-6 websites earlier on it and gave it a few tries but to no avail. I posted it on stack overflow so hopefully soon that load speed will increase =]

Hello and welcome to Crypto Database's BitCoinTalk thread.

Our overall goal is to create the largest list and collection of crypto currencies out there, and we have done it! No other site contains more coins than ours as of this moment and we are still adding in more information.

So far we have been able to find 900+  coins.

You can view faucets for your favorite coins, view their prices with a simple search and pretty soon we will add in every mining pool out there.

Come on in and check us out, http://cryptodatabase.net

All suggestions and opinions are welcome, websites do not grow otherwise.

Please leave a review below and I will add it to my upcoming review page. Good or bad it will be added unless it is just a troll post.

If you have a new coin and want it to be listed please post it below and I will add it.

wow, this is impressive work, thank you firstly! I came here to discover coins and err that's what I'll be doing for the rest of my life it seems, thanks to this resource! What do you have in store for the future? It would be great to ultimately see some additional info for all coins, kinda like a directory so everyone can understand the story behind all these altcoins. I think information would help many coins gain trust etc and for the market to feel less fragmented. Perhaps some kind of profile page for coins with all relevant info, price etc displayed? I realise this translates into a whole lot of work! :o Keep it up!

Hey,
Very nice site, but In my opinion it will be very hard to manage and look after every single faucet and check if it is active or not. You need a team of people who can do that :)
If you are looking to hire someone to help you you can PM me ;) I am available to start right now .

Thank you for your interest in joining the Crypto Database staff team. Currently the website does not produce enough income to be able to pay for full time staff members but I do have several friends who help me out occasionally.

For broken links or inactive links I leave it up to the visitors to let me know if it doesn't work so I can remove them, otherwise I do not check them to see if they work.

On a side note, I have 40 more coins written down waiting to be added to the site bringing my total found to 990 coins.

In my opinion, it would be 1000% better if each new altcoin brought something to the table instead of the usual copy/paste of others work.

Bitcoin is no exception. It is not unique but rather another altcoin considering Satoshi is not the creator of the crypto currency. That honor goes to Mr. Chaum, who in 1990 created DigiCash which is the true first anonymous crypto currency ever made. 19 years before bitcoin was made.

This may or may not help any though as the page load times is not caused by my server but rather from the mass amount of api calls the page makes to pull the coin trading information.

That's exactly what caching is for. You cache the results and don't need to make the API calls with every page load. Just grab them from cache.

You probably could do a better database design to reduce the number of calls, too.

And what about also listing the coins algo + info site along with it? ;)

This issue has been solved for a while now, I was caching everything and it sped it up quite a bit but it was still slow. My new process is a lot faster and easier to use.

I have this planned but I am saving it for last as it will take me roughly 6 months to complete.

You can view the example that I have up at http://cryptodatabase.net/acros for Acros coin.

Come on in and check us out, http://cryptodatabase.net

How many of them are making a real deal. Crypto currencies are growing like a bush of  weed,is it that easy to come up with a new Crypto?

Please leave a review below and I will add it to my upcoming review page. Good or bad it will be added unless it is just a troll post.

If you have a new coin and want it to be listed please post it below and I will add it.

Thanks for this, we (EMC2) are interested in knowing all of the ethical coins -- coins with a cause.    Would you happen to have that category?

Currently there is not a section for ethical coins. It may be added in later though.

If you are needing a website for your coin we now offer the option to host it on a subdomain on our website. Check out http://cryptodatase.net/host.php

is this offer still available?

Sorry, at this time that offer is not currently available. It may be again at a later date.

Possibly at a later time, as it would take me a while to sort through 1000+ coins and get the right ones for each section by myself. The country coins wasn't that much work as I knew there wasn't that many of them.

There are hundreds of cause type coins, coins like charitycoin, aidcoin, aidbit etc etc and would take a long time to gather up.

Ethical coins is really a diverse issue on what is classified as ethical, would need specifications of what type for this.

To give you an idea of how dead most coins are check out http://cryptodatabase.net/coins-country

All of those N/A are either non existant or defunct features. A lot of them don't even have working sources.

Alternatively, you can go to http://cryptodatabase.net/price and input the coins abbr. That api will check 60 exchanges for that coin and display the price. If it shows up as "0 or Unlisted" then it is not on an exchange and most likely is dead.

We have added two new categories onto our site for coins; Failed and Resourceful Coins.

Our specification of Failed relies on whether they have any active links regarding their website, pools, exchanges, and/or faucets.

Our specification of Resourceful is where we were able to find all of the information pertaining to a coin that we offer on our website.

Check it out today,

I believe that it just needs more attention to help it grow and a faucet is a good way to draw that attention.

Very interesting. But creating a faucet in my opinion, makes more people try to sell their coins to get bitcoins. Also I accidently submitted an incorrect flappycoin address, but found it impossible to change/edit it. Can you fix that please?

The purpose of a faucet is to draw attention to the coin while giving out small amounts. The small amounts help get people started while not effecting the market too much.

The human pysch works on greed, you get a little bit of something and then you want more and more. If 50 people collect small amounts there is bound to be 1 or 2 that will buy more just to have them. Usually this amounts to a higher amount than what was given out.

I have reset your flappycoin address on the website and I will add in a way to change it manually in a few minutes.

Right now it looks like as if it's a hacking website or an illegal one. Or maybe users should be able to choose their theme colours?

What color do you think it should be? It is very possible to have 5-6 different themes ready within an hour with the option to pick which one you like the best.

The only issue, the main reason I do not offer the ability to choose a theme and probably will only use one, is when you pick another theme besides the default theme it will flash the default each time a page is loaded.

Magi has already been added to our database. You can visit http://cryptodatabase.net/recent to check out the recently added coins.

Magi currently does not show up on our live coin listing for the M category due to our new upgrades we are doing but it does show up in Recent and Resourceful Coins. The M category is unfinished but once it is complete we will switch over the category to show our new version like we have with the other letters.

I have also updated the first post to include more information.

Thanks for your questions

There are different ways of viewing this campaign, the primary audience is the crowd funding community not associated with cryptocurrency; a second audience is the cryptocurrency industry, and a third way of viewing this campaign is by a science research audience.

With that said, and given that we (you and me) are in the CC industry I'll start from there.   This campaign is being conducted at indiegogo the second largest crowd funding campaign in the world.  The campaign will have many eyes on it.  This is a way to tacitly introduce CC to the wider worldwide community.  Indiegogo does not currently accept any CC on their platform our ongoing campaigns (this is the first) will very likely change that.

The Einsteinium Foundation has a mission to raise funds for scientific research, our mining tax creates a pool of funds that we provide to grant applicants that are approved by the board.   Recently we intergrated crowd funding into the process to enable the grant beneficiary to receive more money than we could immediately supply.  This enables us to market the project, our coin, our sponsor items, and crypto all at the same time.

From the perspective of the science community this is a science research project seeking funding for two things, to provide funds in appreciation of work done, and as motivation for more work to be done.    More specifically, in 2009 the Abel lab make a great discovery that lack of sleep triggers a chemical in the brain that causes memory loss.  Recently, the lab also with Dr. Havekes created a method to interrupt that trigger in mice to reduce or eliminate memory loss due to lace of adequate sleep.  Dr. Havekes' intention is to apply his knowledge and methods to humans such that people who often get low levels of sleep ("shift workers and doctors")  may suffer less memory loss due to sleep deprivation.

Often times when dealing with scientific research its very difficult to see all of the connections, but as one person commented at youtube this video: "Suffering from diagnosed insomnia myself, this research is great and will support".

The largest audience is the general crowd funding audience, the purpose of this campaign is to make them aware of some problems caused by sleep deprivation and the work Dr. Havekes is doing to solve the cognitive problems associated with sleep deprivation.   A secondary purpose is to make that same audience aware of cryptocurrency, and that there is an org in that world that funds scientific research.

So to answer your first question -- what is the purpose of the campaign -- to provide awareness of a problem, to encourage support of the investigation of the cause, and to support the search for the solution.

You said: "The campaign itself is not very informative of the motives behind it."   I'm sorry about that, I invite you to please help us to recreate the message so that it is concise and cogent and effective.

You also: "What will the money be used for, what is its end game, how will it help something that is widely known in the medical world?"  this campaign isn't for making a product or service, its for rewarding successful research and to inspire more research.  Such is the case for most scientific grants ie: nobel.

As for Cryptodatabase it's an opportunity to get involved with what we are doing at the very start.

I am nearing completion on my latest project. This project is an enhanced game version of the old Dragon Knight game. Build your own kingdom, fight other players, explore the map, complete quests.

Throughout the game you will receive Dragon Points. You can trade your Dragon Points in for crypto currencies and withdraw them to your wallet. Currently only MoonCoin and FlappyCoin is supported. Additional coins may be added in the future.

Adding in new equipment currently, expected public opening will possibly be within the next couple of weeks.

This is a possibility. I would just need the transfer rate between Dragon Points (DP) and EMC2 that you would like. There are currently two ways to gain DP, leveling up gains 1,000 (max level 99 (99,000 DP)) and training camps found randomly by exploring gains 1 DP. I plan on adding DP rewards to quests and monster fights in the near future to allow users to gain more easier.

Sounds good, beta version of the game is at http://dknight.ml not fully completed yet but is playable with everything working. Syncing up wallet now, might take a day or so to complete.

I invite you to drop by the EMC2 page to introduce the game after syncing is completed, at that point we will add it to the EMC2 OP, and do a broadcast announcement (twitter, Facebook, et al) to let everyone know about the game that they could win DP and EMC2 there.

Let me know what EMC2 address to send the first installment of EMC2 to.

I noticed a section called "resourceful coins", how is that defined?  also, if purposeful coins is not part of that definition would you consider having a section for 'purpose coins' -- coins created with a specific purpose, outside of itself, in mind?

Resourceful coins are coins that I was able to find links for everything that is displayed in the database. They have a working website, blockchain, source code, mining pool if in pow still, exchanges and faucets.

For a 'Purpose' category I would have to go back through each coin and see what it was created for which would take me a month or two by myself. A smaller task though would be only categorizing just the resourceful coins into a purpose category as those would be the coins worth checking out.

The EMC2 balance for Dragon Knight has 5657 EMC2 left.

GOLDPIECES+HYPER+CRYPTODATABASE+PICISI = HIGH-TECH FUN

excerpt:

"...  the developer of HYPER, the #1 purpose CC for gaming, considered stepping in to rescue the currency.  HF’s strategic rescue plan is a model for CC industry pros to follow.

His plan marshaled various resources on behalf of GP such that the currency could be literally, financially, and socially  placed on a whole new path to success.  The multi-pronged plan started with the announcement of the rescue plan (aka community takeover), which was followed by an injection of capital,  immediate integration and adoption of GP into established games, a sea of organized publicity, a digital currency coding fork, and a brand new announcement thread at bitcointalk.com.  The reorganization plan was well received, to the extent of a triple digit bounce.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the work that is going into the rescue.

Quick mini update on PICISI:

Since we can't seem to attract the right people to add to PICISI admin team, I've rewritten the plan yet again to start with the human resources currently available, meaning we will start smaller and slower.  The site should be in alpha testing in a week once that is complete we will announce the currency launch date.

After alpha testing is complete, the site will be in beta testing.  Beta testing will involve real activities, limited tools, and discounted rates for a limited time.

I really like what CryptoDatabase has been doing so far. It is building up to be a really nice collection of "crypto" related stuff. Especially loving the games (dragonknight).
The new PPC seems like a really nice touch also, a good place to get some very cheap advertising for faucets, sites and more. Also a good place for PTC users to know more about Cryptos.
Keep up the good job!

Thank you for your comment, so far the collection consists of a catalog of coins, an encrypted private chat, 2 games, some forums, ptc website, websites for other people, and some faucets. This will most likely expand into more as time goes by.

Crypto Database and the websites on this domain will be down temporarily as I migrate the website to its new location on upgraded servers.

I am not sure how long this will take and hope to have it back up as soon as possible.

https://dknight2.com and http://cryptoptc.com are functioning normally.

Dragon Knights of Valeria has almost reached 1,500 players with hundreds of dollars in coins already paid out.

My next project of my own will be coming out soon. It is a simple faucet rotator for Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin. It is already done but I am increasing the amount of faucets available to use.

Crypto Database has already gained back over 1,000 members since the recent database loss, its awesome to see it grow this fast with very little advertising.

Huge collection of altcoins you got there !
I tried the cryptobird game. I think along with the option to click to play, there should be an option to press a key, say "spacebar", to play the game. The click to play is better for mobiles but on laptop with touchpad, keyboard is much better imo.

Hello, thank you for your suggestion. I haven't worked on Crypto Bird in about 4 years so I would have to go back through the code and see what can be done about adding in keyboard hotkeys in place of the mouse clicks. Once my schedule settles down a bit I can  go in and check.

DKV2U and CD are currently down but it's just a miner hiccup, will get it back up as soon as possible but it might take a couple days as I'll have to upgrade back to a VPS and wait for them to set up all my stuff again.
