Title: AltCoin Market Cap Drying Up? Check out these stats...
Post by: abercrombie on July 01, 2014, 04:52:05 PM
Was just following the btc-e chat this morning and saw some interesting posts:

COUNTERint: Consider this: Back on January 4, BTC’s market cap ($10.0B) was 72% of the total market cap of the Top 65 coins ($13.9B). On March 30, it climbed to 79% ($6.0B of $7.5B), and today it is 93% ($8.3B of $8.9B). Conclusion: For the last six months, the market cap of the alt coins is drying up.

COUNTERint: This means one of two things: (1) Simply, BTC has fallen less than the alts in the current downturn (and will reverse course when the market turns bullish), or (2) alt coins are dying; there is no need for many coins. One or two coins will get (nearly) all the market cap.
