Title: Warning: Transactions are possibly Incorrect!
Post by: Nexigen on July 01, 2014, 11:20:50 PM
EDIT:: SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED
We had version 0.8.5 while 0.9.2.1 is the newest version, yes we're idiots!

Hello Bitcointalk,

We are setting up our own company and it includes bitcoin payments which allow customers to deposit and withdraw crypto currencies.
For this we have our own server with our own client on it for bitcoin.

The problem is the following error :

"Warning: Transactions are possibly incorrect! You might need to upgrade, or other nodes need to upgrade"

We have no idea what is causing this problem. Especially because we also have a Doge coin wallet which is working fine!

Server specs are:

windows 7 ultimate SP1
AMD A8-6600K
Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H
2x 1 terabyte storage in RAID1

some information:

We started the Bitcoin QT client with the following line: datadir="C:\currencies\bitcoin\bitcoin").
This worked perfectly, but a few days ago we noticed it was still updating, the client kept showing that.
We restarted the server once and it told us it was still updating (we were unable to do any transactions either because the database was corrupted?!)
We tried a re-index. Did not work.
We deleted the blockchain and redownloaded it via the bitcoin client. No results either.
We tried de-installing the entire server and installed everything fresh. Did not work either.
At first sight it looks like it was synchronizing. It can come up all the way to '66 weeks remaining'.
We still have a lot of free space left, so this can not be an issue either.
The whole server regarding hardware seems to be stable and there are no heat issues.

I hope someone can help us.
If there are any questions, please ask them, and I will let our technical guy answer them accordingly.

Cheers,
Nexigen.

Running a wallet/service on Windows, especially not a server edition sounds like a really bad idea. Don't get me wrong, I am a Windows user myself, but for hosting sensitive things, like people's Bitcoins I can only recommend a *NIX server.

Also, you should consider running the daemon, but again, don't go using Windows for a service. Also, you've not stated the version you are using. Latest is 0.9.2.1

Your reply immediately solved our problem!
We still had version 0.8.5, how incredibly stupid.
Also, we're considering to take a linux version instead of windows. Would that be better?

Thank you very much!!

With a *NIX host you're less likely to get infected by something malicious, since quite a lot of functionality requires root. Nowadays any EXE you run could be a malicious one. Also, more stability?

Also, if you feel like it, you can send me a tip to the sig address. I wish I could live off photosynthesis, but so far that is scifi :D
