Title: Assuring customers I won't spam them by reputable 3rd party mailing list service
Post by: jago25_98 on March 06, 2012, 03:12:43 PM

I want to assure customers that I won't spam them.

But how do I do that?

Is there a service out there from a very reputable company that will hold my customers email addresses for me and forward my emails for me?

Or is there anther way to reassure people?

Any sistem that allows you to make people double opt-in to your mailing list will provide it

That is a /bad/ way of going about it

There was a bank that had their 3rd party mailer hacked and all information stolen, less companies involved less chance of a hack

i'm looking to reassure customers primarily rather than actually fixing the problem properly... Though of course a solution is best.

I was thinking. I could setup a separate site that takes an email address and forwards it to another. We have temporary email addresses for this but is there one that forwards rather than displays on the site...

Getting people to sign up is crucial and often i don't bother because i don't want to be spammed.

We have sites that offer temporary email addresses but is there one that forwards rather than displays on the site...

Most mail servers will do what you want. Forwarders, catch-all(that can also forward), auto-responders, etc.
If you have a server with cpanel or directadmin that's pretty straight forward to setup. If not, a couple commands on the shell will do everything you need.
