Title: Any new methods for Debit/Credit card to BTC?
Post by: Extravagant on March 06, 2012, 04:35:25 PM

Paxum was so nice for that very reason. The rates were ok, and it all took 15 minutes to fund MTGox.

But we all know what happened to Paxum. There is another method of SolidTrustPay -> AurumXchange -> MTGox but they apparently dont care about that service since they havent updated there site to take STP, And the rates will be close to 8% AXC support says. So FK that.

I was wondering if anyone had any easier methods?

Its realy hard for me to get out to a bank, The closest bank to me is 25 minutes away... Bank Transfers take 47474439834 days, Dwolla instant is apparently a joke. So Debt card funding was a nice option.

Thanks in advance

Are there any 7-elevens or WalMarts around?

Other than that, there's not much for getting funds to an exchange quickly without using a bank or banking system intermediary like Dwolla:

I think you can deposit cash at some banks and have the money show up in BitInstant very fast.

Actually, it is pretty fast -- Mt. Gox to Dwolla happens within minutes.

Then you can withdraw to your bank.  That's probably the problem you are describing.  If you haven't linked a bank account to Dwolla yet, that process where they send a couple of test deposits to it can take up to five business day.

But then once you have that linked, your actual withdrawal from Dwolla to your bank takes just two to three days.

Still not lightning fast, but it is not 7+ days.   :)

I haven't tried it but depositing to www.switchpoker.com (http://www.switchpoker.com) with a Debit/Credit card and withdrawing in bitcoin might work. It seems like there's a 20BTC minimum withdrawal though.

Has anyone tried this?

Yeah,I meant from Dwolla to a bank account :-[

Dwolla has been jerking me around lately.First try got my bank account overdrawn,I have NO idea how & niether do they.I even called them & asked what went wrong & they had no clue. While I had them on the phone I tried again to transfer money to my bank,it never went thru even though the "money out" section said the transaction was completed 5 days later. Then when I checked today (transaction date was 2/2/12) there's no record of the transaction ???

I have made at least 8 transfers before,to & from my bank & no issues,so I know how Dwolla's site works.

Theres got to be something better to get funds to & from my bank.

What is this "cash deposit"??

To get funds to an exchange, such as Mt. Gox, you can deposit cash at most major banks, and have those funds transferred to the exchange.

AurumXChange just started doing this, and BitInstant has been doing it for months now.  The fee is like 4% or less.

Yeah by far in the US the easiest/fastest way to get coins is via BitInstant:

1) create the order at bitinstant.com (http://bitinstant.com) - 3 minutes
2) drive to a local bank branch of chase/citi/wells fargo/bank of america  (you don't need an account with them) - 15 minutes
3) deposit cash and drive home - 20 minutes

Often, before you even get home, your funds are sitting in Gox or Crypto X Change.

Everyone should try it with $20 and see how damn awesome it actually is.

yep, they dont like it, but they let you do it. They will charge you a 5% cashout fee if you are a new player who has just cashed up, converted to bitcoins and cashed out.

I bought 13.59 btc this way myself, takes about 2 days to process.

5% is not too bad I guess for the ability to pay by credit card.
When you say they dont like it, how do you know this? did they something to you when you tried to cash out in bitcoin?

I found this: http://www.nationalach.com/ but I don't have the time to research them so if someone else wants to and then post their findings I'd appreciate it.
