The final countdown has begun


We'd would like to inform everyone of the approaching close of the Bitshares AGS (http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares_AGS) (or Angelshares) crowd-funding. The longest round of crowd-funding for any crypto-equity related project to date is coming to a close with approximately two weeks remaining.  

BitShares AGS, represent a way to gain a stake in this new and exciting industry of distributed autonomous companies  (http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Distributed_Autonomous_Company) without mining coins. AGS donations started on January 1, 2014 and run for 199 days. The donations to the AGS fund support the research, development and creation of the BitShares technology. Those who support the fund are given public credit as 10,000 AGS shares , proportional to the amount donated. BitShares AGS is a public way to document who has donated to help build the industry. In return, 3rd party developers may choose to give shares in their new companies as “tips” to those donors in accordance with the  BitShares Social Consensus  (http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares_Social_Consensus). They do this primarily as a targeted promotion to attract the support of people who are likely to contribute to their new ventures in a variety of helpful ways.

Whether its banking, stock exchanges, lotteries, voting, music, auctions or many others, a digital public ledger allows for the creation of distributed autonomous companies (or DACs) that provide better quality services at a fraction of the cost incurred by their more traditional, centralized counterparts. The asset exchange is in public testing and is close to being released soon.  Those who participated in AGS or owned PTS on the February 28th snapshot will have a shares in the first Bitshares Exchange.

They are producing on the test chain, one block every 15 sec. without forks !!!
The transactions are 100% real anonymous(TITAN technology allows users to Transfer Invisibly To A Name!!!).The delegate participation on block production is already 93%
and 2 trx per sec is like "butter on they bread", their test network passed all stress tests you can imagine, I am in doubt somebody could attack so hard in real market conditions. If you ask me, the revolution is in front of our face guys.

That is one of the problems with completely distributed networks.  You run into large delays due to the network latency.  With Delegated POS the block-signers can be selected by performance metrics.  It is just hard to scale a network where every node is treated equally.  DPOS works around that.

I never had to serve my country.  I was lucky.  I do however serve Bitshares.  Til death does us apart.  Onward and forward.  The world doesn't get it, but we do.  Sometimes I sit around wondering.  What can I do to wise up the masses about what is the greatest crypto 2.0 project in existence ?

Everyone do yourself a favor and read about bitshares.  Right now donating has a lot of benefit and you are enabling freedom.  Freedom through DACs.  Lets see how far this stuff can take us.  It is a new world out there and Bitshares is on the next level in that regard. http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/A_Philosophy_of_Freedom (http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/A_Philosophy_of_Freedom) has some quotes from the head dev of Bitshares.  So donating to this gives *you* Angelshares while also supporting Bitshares.

You're a real fanboy.  Funny .. but still a fanboy.  Why do you think Bitshares is such a great project ?  Why shouldn't I invest in NXT instead ?

NXT also very innovative and has great community.
Unfortunately NXT has very bad initial distribution.
Personally I prefer BitShares.  :)

Transactions speed (reduced to 15 second blocks and 1 block confirmation - will be reduced to 10 perhaps 5 second blocks). Transactions load (10 tps initially). Scalablity (can scale to size of visa). Stabile assets (bitAssets allow people to pass on volatility to those with higher risk tolerance). Name registration and anonymous transacitons (referred to as TITAN or Transfer Invisibly To Any Name - automated stealth address creation). Fastest and most active development team in the business.

I invest in NXT because I invest in Daniel Larimer when I invest in BitShares, and he holds that NXT is a good investment. Make no mistake, if not soon, then someday soon both NXT and BitShares will be 10-20x what they are now.

Ipo is dropping price rather than unceasing after final day it can be even - 50% at the end. Seriously :)

There are 2 main reasons you want to get into Bitshares.

The potentially huge Bitshares X decentralized exchange.  NXT AE is the closest thing currenctly.  Mastercoin and XCP are weird things that rely on the good will of Bitcoin.  NXT AE is pretty nice, but there lacks any of the market pegging/bitasset type functionality.  BitAssets will allow people to invest/speculate in all manner of commodities without being in a centralized exchange system.  No borders.  Huge potential.  In order to invest in this you have to buy BTSX.

The other reason to invest in Bitshares is that you like their technological approach to created Decentralized Autonomous Entities.  Bitshares people call them D.A. Companies, but it is the same thing.  Bitshares will have a lean system with low barrier of entry.  So either donate to Angelshares in this last week or buy and hold Protoshares.

Heh "weird things." Hey, relying on the goodwill of Bitcoin is better than relying on any other cryptocurrency out there.

The only reason why more people aren't using Counterparty is because they are indeed a weird introverted bunch, but their product is more amazing than weird.

I am interested in Bitshares though because it sounds like maybe I can win the race to develop Skynet first.

I once wanted to download CounterParty and it needed a full bitcoin node.  They're neat technology but they are hamstrung by their reliance on Bitcoin IMO.  I agree, if you have to rely on any currency it is best BTC.  

It is even better yet to have your own currency like NXT/Bitshares X. ;)

I misspoke when I called them weird...  I just find the 2 hard to categorize.  I just don't think either can innovate very well because they have to rely on bitcoin.  I'm a big fan of innovation in this sphere, so I like Bitshares.  Sounds corny, I know.

Just for your future reference the new Counterwallet is hands down the easiest wallet software I've ever seen. You can create assets for a fraction of the cost of NXT and the idea of being able to trade anything for anything seems to be a bit more doable there.

Having your username be the password is a pretty awesome idea even if its 12 words long.

From what I've read Bitshares is taking the idea of implementing crypto in real-world business to a whole new level, but all 3 platforms are elevating the reputation of the alt scene by succeeding at being innovative, IMHO.

Well I need to check it out.  I have to assume it still requires downloading the full bitcoin chain ?

I believe with Bitshares X the main exchange will not have cheap assets in order to keep out the clutter/scams, so I don't think the early versions of the exchange will be competitive in regards to the creation of cheap assets.

Yeah I'd be interested in that too, I still haven't unlocked my proof of burn XCP because of the hassle. Will be great if it's simple.

Also don't forget all the other exchanges can only offer user issued assets, BitShares X will have market pegged assets. BitGold, BitUSD etc.

Oh and bump only 30 hours left of AGS 200 donation period! (After that you'll have to buy BitShares PTS to get a stake in future DAC's and the X DAC I mentioned above was already allocated on 28/02/14 but is pre-trading on bter & BTC38 under the symbol BTSX)

Why do these guys feel the need to issue 500 different cryptoassets? Bitshares, Bitshares-X, Bitshares PTS, AGS, I mean for fucks sake.

No, actually. Its instantaneous, even faster than the new NXT client (which much faster than its old client).

ROFL.  What a complex and wonderful question.

The basic problem is that due to innovation chains need to be separate.  If they were all the same chain it ends up like Bitcoin or Mastercoin/XCP.  The blockchain is seen as a metaphor to a company, so these are all individual companies that you can invest in.

Protoshares allows you to have a stake in any future DAC (Where the DAC honors the social consensus.)  AGS was a way for them to do crowdfunding.  You keep your private key to redeem stakes going forward.  It is never intended to be made liquid.

Bitshares X is the first and most ambitious product.  Unfortunately the genesis block was already been decided, but shares will be on the open market soon enough.  Bitshares X has market pegging of assets using something akin to a prediction market.

Next we will see p2p that implements namecoin.

THere is no crypto asset named Bitshares.  Thats pretty much just the term to refer to the ecosystem as a whole, which will be based off the bitshares toolkit and completely open source.

The point here is every asset has its own function like a company.  If they were all on the blockchain nothing would ever get done because of competing requirements.  Also, it would never work with the distribution of shares.  This lets entrepreneurs innovate just like a real company.

I was under the impression that an investment in AGS would get you a stake in all DACs. Either way, it's not a well thought out way of doing things. I think I put .25BTC into AGS a while back, let's see what happens.

The snapshot taken on Feb 28th was for Bitshares X so anyone who invested in AGS up until that date will get their stake.

I have to disagree about it not being well thought out.  I would argue that this has been thought out far more than any other crypto-currency.  Many of the results have  been from a deeper inspection of what is actually going on.

For example - I don't read here as much as I used to, but I recently read a thread with complaining about a TV talking head suggesting making BTC be constantly inflationary.  Everyone starts comparing it to doge.  I'm pretty sure I'll be dead and long forgotten by the time Bitcoin stops inflating the money supply.  No one even stops to examine the underlying premise - that a currency needs inflation to remain secure.
