You don't have to change your email address from your dropbox account.

I would be cautious as to your methods of spoofing the 30 referrals.

The premise of this is that you're selling fake referrals. I don't think dropbox would approve of that, and if it could find out - would possibly close the account.

I have had a 18gb for a while, and it would be easy for Dropbox to see that I faked the referrals...I'm not saying that the above is a scam, just be clear that there is a potential that this goes against Dropbox's intended use.

TBH this is a good deal for most people, as doing it manually is monotonous.

How does that work? Is it some sort of special promo by dropbox?

Anyone can double their existing account by adding an educational-domain email like .edu to their current dropbox.com account at
https://dropbox.com/edu (https://dropbox.com/edu). This will give you 500MB per referred dropbox account instead of 250MB, for a total of up to 16GB extra space from referrals. Bringing the total space up to 2GB + 16GB.

You need 32 Referrals to top out your dropbox account.

Just got my 16 gigs, everything worked out as promised.  A++ would do business again etc. blah blah.  Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.  For some reason my other referral from before didn't count towards the maximum so now I have 18.2 gigs total.

Why don't you pay Dropbox for the service they are providing you, instead of some random sketchy person on the internet?

Why pay for 50 GB if you don't need that much space? Why you should not benefit from an existing referral program in order to get few gb more? That is not stealing, they are offering you more space for any new registered dropbox user which was referred by your link.

It's fair game to post alternative services, just so long as you know the pros and cons. You may get more space with Box.net, but it doesn't have the Dropbox API that can handshake with everything on the internet ever. I personally think it's worth the tradeoff, even with with no referrals attached.

When looking for Data Entry work on the freelance sites, we'd regularly encounter fake accounts there posting jobs.  They'd put 30-40 potential applicants per ad through an online typing test, then tell them to register for a Dropbox account through their referral link "to receive work files".  None of the applicants looking for work were ever hired.  The posting would be closed, and a new posting with the same requirements would show up from a different dummy employer account.

There's no way to know for sure that dropboxexpander is defrauding these job-seeking applicants, but it seems likely and we know it's how a lot of paid "Dropbox expander" services work.  By defrauding and wasting the time of hundreds of people who are unemployed and actively looking for work.

Satori, that's not the way the service functions, it simply wouldn't be reliable. What you are describing is very, how to put it in nice words, lame? I agree with you and my service doesn't work like this.

dropboxexpander, I'm glad to hear we're both in agreement that the method I encountered was wrong.  And my post was definitely pretty aggro, for obvious reasons.

I'd retract that hostility in a heartbeat, if I could be sure that (or similar) wasn't how your service works.

I'm assuming he does something similar to moredropbox's offering, which if I recall correctly works using a script on a set of virtual machines with Tor on them.

That is correct. The referrals I create are "valid" in the sense that they work just like a normal dropbox account. However, they do have weird emails and names. I've switched between using a name generator and random-strings for emails a couple of times. Right now it's all generated names.

Freelancer.com's Data Entry listings (http://www.freelancer.com/jobs/Data-Entry/) are so full of job postings that end up being Dropbox scams, that applying for data entry positions is a lost cause.  Typical Dropbox postings advertise data entry positions, and often emphasize that they're willing to hire people who've had no prior data entry jobs.  30 - 40 job candidates respond with their interest.  Those candidates are PM'ed by the job poster, telling them that there's a few things they'll need to do to get started.  First, they're directed to an online typing test that takes about three minutes.  They're told to send a JPG of their typing speed results.  They're also given a shortened referral link to Dropbox and told to create an account there "to receive work files", and PM the "employer" with the e-mail address they used to register at Dropbox.

Reading the list of applicant replies, these postings get a lot of responses.  Each.  The entire lot of applicants is then kicked to the curb as the job posting is cancelled, and the process repeats: New "employer" account purporting to be from somewhere else, new user image (I got a nice Middle Eastern lady named "Dr. Munni"), same body text verbatim.  I was out for a data entry job, noticed this, and got suspicious.  That's when I checked Dropbox and found out they were offering free drivespace for referrals.

I've contacted Freelancer.com and Dropbox about it, but there's little they can do without getting together to share IP log information.  And even that isn't likely to do much if scammers are using proxies.  I suppose if Dropbox has been notified of this and keeps their offer without providing due diligence, they're liable to a class action from sites and job seekers for knowingly enabling the problem.

The prices remain the same even the bitcoin price is decreasing. Because of the speculative trends I think the best price scheme will be in us dollars converted to btc.

Just leaving a recommendation for this service. I bought the expansion approximately two weeks ago but was stuck with newbie restriction so couldn't post any earlier. Contact was excellent and referrals quickly arrived after payment. All referrals worked as well leaving me with ~20GB in my dropbox.

dropboxexpander, I have a free Dropbox account currently at 15.4GB, expanded mostly from offers such as uploading camera photos for an extra 5GB, link Dropbox to any Android for 5GB, but only have about 8 referrals.

eventually when all the fake accounts he made don't have any usage drop box will unvalidate your account. basically you all got scammed  but wont notice it until dropbox does
