Title: Trading Cards (Gauging Interest)
Post by: Intention on March 12, 2012, 05:12:26 AM
So I was cleaning my room and located a bunch of old cards from Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Magic the Gathering.

I was attempting to start listing these all on eBay but they have stupid fees and restrictions which doesn't make sense...Now what I was thinking of is making a database that can be viewed on a webpage using relative pricing of those listed on eBay however I'd be charging BTC for them.

I'd be shipping from Canada so it would be about ~$1.25 for shipping within Canada since there's postage/toploader sleeve/envelope etc and about ~$1.75 to the US and $2.50 to the rest of the World.

Another option is using bitmit which I started playing around with but again it's taking a niche market and making it smaller by using BTC then smaller again only having it up for people who use bitmit.

i wish you luck.

the market for collectible cards has sucked since the downturn.

then again. they have probably sucked before that.

just worse now.

i just sold a shitload of magic cards for peanuts. i was sad.

but one less thing layin around my wife's fuckin house of hoarding.

Well as for the older less played series these days (Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh) I could see a tiny market for it mostly for collections.  As for Magic I know the market is small however a lot of buyers are looking for cards for playing not so much collecting.  I used to be really into it but I just kinda stopped when my brother flat out demolished me whenever we played...But he also spent an order of magnitude higher on cards than me.

He also has like tubs of those cards so indexing them all is going to suck but he wants to sell most of them so we'll see how it goes.  Just right now I'm seeing if A) anyone is even interested and B) if I should just post them on bitmit however I don't want to flood that section or if I should just make a webpage with a searchable list and people can contact me.  I'll have to set up an OTC account for that but I'm just thinking out loud at the moment.

Indexing my collection: not a huge problem.
Indexing my brother's: It'll take days.
