Unfortunately, many do not realize the dangers of 1 pool having more than 50% of the network hash rate.

Not really the case here mate, we were on the right chain but with over 40gh on dedicated... The chain switched to them. I've actually had to restart and sync to their chain.

been seeing that error in a lot of the recent short PoW/PoS coins.  this one has to be from the same clown that did ConcealCoin.  bet he vanishes before PoW ends.  or, he adjusted this coin according the data he got from conceal, like the 25 hour PoW, instead of the announced 24hours, and applied it here.

You are missing something. It's not even up for debate - look at the evidence over in Conceal and in this thread. Its clear as crystal to anyone who takes the time to check it out.

I know you all want to make a quick buck pumping and dumping it but the odds of any exchange listing this after the Conceal scam is extremely slim. Even then, the peak would never be as high as Conceal's pump because people will be so on edge and ready to dump that it will probably drop below mining profitability within minutes of getting listed.

How is it wrong?  CNL had the exact same issues but it was worse.  it was a 24 hour mining period with a 24 hour POS starting at like 3/4 the way into POW.  It caused the blockchain to come to a halt.  took like 5 hours to move 8 or 9 blocks if I remember right.

Same size, and the giveaway is the fact the name of the coin is around the border for each coin. Incredibly lazy on the dev's part.

Coin age accumulates from the moment a transaction is confirmed, meaning coins are accumulating age right now.  PoS will be well underway well before PoW is finished and plenty of coins should be eligible for stake.  I don't fear the blockchain getting stuck.

CNL was not eligible for PoS for 24 hours.  The PoW stage lasted 24 hours.  Check again, there was no PoS during the PoW phase.  Literally the only coins that could have had enough weight to move the network at that point was the coins the dev instamined.

FYI-  if you try to compile this wallet on linux, you get an error about the leveldb or something.  here's a link to the fix.

OK I see the error in my thinking.  I've just started really looking at coin code and that was a misunderstanding on my part.  The way this coin was setup appeared to have the same issue.  So basically the only way to have coins staking and ready for the POS transition before POW ends is to get coins in a wallet no later than 15 hours before POW ends.  This also makes it pointless to have started POS blocks at 1500 blocks.

that still doesn't make up for the fact that the CNL Ann thread stated 8.5million coins would be mined during PoW, yet an hour or two before PoW ended, there were 9.2 million in circulation, per the getinfo command in the wallet.  700,000 from staking in that short of time?  i'm thinking no.  PoS interest is 3% per year.  the difference in the advertised and actual coin amounts is 8.2%.  that's kind of a big difference.

the dev did wise up a bit, and didn't put the moneysupply for VAST in writing.  or he just forgot to list that part. 

The extra coins came from a miscalculation on the devs part.

2880 POW blocks @ 3500 CNL each = 10,080,000 coins. not 8.5million

He assumed there would be POS blocks during the last part of the POW phase but POW and POS were set for 24 hours.  No POS blocks could be mined during the 24 hours of mining.

I've just finished reading this thread and to be honest...  I have mixed feelings!

1. People need to do their own research, and only invest if/when they feel truly comfortable.

2. Cryptos are not for the fainthearted, nor the naïve - so don't be fooled and think anyone isn't here to make a profit!  (That's why people get so emotionally invested in this ~ simply refer to comments in this thread!)

3. Also, anyone crying scam... please say your piece, show your proof (not proofS - sorry dude!) and then move on.  There are so many people trying to save others...when really these coins will live or die by their communities, and by spreading FUD (accurate or not) it raises the profile for better or worse.

I'm over the spilled milk...so let people invest or not...and they'll learn some lessons along the way!

Enjoy the ride...just don't get an ulcer over it!  

There's plenty of other choices to invest in...diversify or die - as they say!  :)

Bittrex is a place of exchange, nothing more. Your buying or selling to another trader.

If you want guarantees then you should trade on the exchange that certifies all coins as good, solid, profitable investments, that would be ... well ... hmm, sorry can't think of one.

Definitely not suggesting where people put their money, but look at the difference in communication and dev feedback between EliteCoin and the ConcealCoin/VastCoin variants...

I think we are all learning that communication,  pre-launch planning/attention to detail, and post-launch support/commitment mean a LOT when deciding where to put your money or your hashes.

It is starting to look like this one might not even get out of its PoW phase... And you know what? If a dev cares so little about his project that he cannot get his code/graphics/white papers and release plans in order before launch, and then be all over the media answering questions/concerns either themselves or by partner proxy, maybe that is as it should be. Doesn't matter what the native tongue is, people in communities like these are ALWAYS willing to pitch in and help a good well thought out project from a hard working and invested dev.
