I’m always on the hunt for the most profitable altcoin to mine. Recently I was shocked to realize that I’m getting the most profit from the coin that doesn’t even use a computer to mine. This is the coin of “Lets Talk Bitcoin” and you mine it through “Proof of participation”. Basically you just post in ltb forums, leave comments, argue with people, you do the same what you would on bitcointalk, but you are getting paid for it in LTBcoins and you’re paid a lot.

Example:
Last week I’ve made maybe 10 posts in the forum (not even that much) and listened to podcast that counts as additional 5 forum posts.

I was paid 15900 LTBcoins at the end of the week.
I’ve sold them on the the exchange for 555 satoshi each = 0.088 BTC  
This is insane! This is a way more then I got from my mining that week.

What is the difference between this and other pump and dumps ?  You're pumping a coin and the person pays you coins as a reward?  What am I missing in this equation ?

You can't really apply pump and dump to LTBcoin. The value of the coin comes from the fact that that's the only way to buy advertising slots on Let's Talk Bitcoin show. So the value of the coin will correlate with how valuable advertizing on the show is. You can't really pump the coin too much because advertizing has limited value, also you can't really dump the coin all the way to 0 because advertizing does not cost 0 also.

And Adam from "Let's Talk Bitcoin" is kind of the person you might trust, right? :)

Anyway whatever it is the coin is very profitable at the moment. Maybe it will change with the time once more people "mine" it, so coins are divided between more people. But at the moment the party goes on for "miners".

You are earning LTBcoins for each post you make on the ltb forums (see Step 3 in the Guide). Every Saturday Adam calculates the value by some complicated formula and send you coins to the address you created in Step 2 of the Guide.

Hey man what are you doing watering down our distribution amounts??

I mean I'm all for people participating in the LTB community, but couldn't you have waited until the initial distribution phase ended?

I guess you're right. There is fixed amount of coins that will be distributed each week. The more people know about LTBcoin, the more people will take part in the distribution each week so less each gets. I guess it's same as with any other alt coin I mined before. In then beginning it's super profitable, but as time goes by more and more people start mining it so it's getting less and less profitable. I guess sooner or later all good things end.

I remember long time ago XPM cost about 0.007 BTC and I mined like 50 of them each week. Crazy times. I guess now the same is happening with LTBcoin.

I think Adam's "Proof of Participation" implementation is a pretty sound idea because it is kind of hard to game the creation of original material that is thought-provoking and not just suspicious of fraud.

Its also smart for him to only accept LTBcoin for his advertising because that gives it value, and in a way we want him to succeed because we want his airtime to be worth more money, basically.

Did you complete step 2 of Mining Guide? It's not enough to just register using the link, you need to complete both Step 1 and Step 2. Also you need to do activity described in Step 3, each activity on LTB earns coins.

Let me know if I should improve any steps of the guide if they are confusing.

I've been following (mining) LTBc for a few weeks now and mentally I have been thinking that the rewards programs are really addictive. I find myself posting on other forums or listening to podcasts and thinking that I shouldn't waste my time on communities that don't have mechanisms to reward the participants. Wonder if this will end up catching on elsewhere...

Ok guys. Tomorrow is a payday. Please make sure you have at least 5 forum posts on LTB forum! This is critical. Adam runs some promotion that the way it works you get a lot of LTBcoins specifically for the first 5 posts in the week. About half of 15900 LTBc I mentioned in the OP comes from that fact that I have 5+ posts. So if you don't have 5 posts already please make more by end of day.

You don't have any LTBc in your counterwallet because nobody send it to you yet. Please start doing activity described in Step 3 in OP. This will earn you coins. Coins will show up in your counterwallet at the end of the week, Adam sends them out on Saturday.

That is all about phase 1 distribution. That was already done a few weeks ago (I was not involved in it).
There are still plenty of ways to earn LTBcoin though.

You have to listen for the "magic word" that is announced somewhere in the podcast, submit it, and it will increase your PoP (Proof of Participation) score.

Trying to get this activated, but I cannot verify my address as it constantly says it is invalid....I take it one cannot participate if you have not verified your address.

The payouts happen once a week, on saturday. Since this weeks payout has already happened, you have about a week to submit a valid LTBcoin address. Did you create your counterwallet address yet?. Your standard Bitcoin address will not work.

I did create one using counterparty wallet- I tried signing the message to verify, but it keeps saying it is invalid. Reading now it seems they know of the problem about verification through signing giving invalid results.

In address manager you can verify you address, but it is not told that you have to do it.
Hence the confusion.

It is meant for legitimate contributions but people will leech of this money source.
I could for example make a hundred accounts and go spamming on the forum and make lots of coins.

The weekly distribution is a fixed amount. Even if you create 100 accounts, you are essentially diluting your own profits.

What is important however is that you create an LTBcoin compatible address (Your address will be valid if you created it in counterwallet).

Actually I think you are wrong. Proof or Participation pays per activity. It shouldn't matter how many accounts generated the activity, was it one or many.

Lets say the only activity you do is you post on forums. It shouldn't matter if one account generated 100 posts, or you created 100 accounts and you made 1 post from each of them. You still gonna be paid for 100 posts.

I believe you get diminishing returns. So with 100 posts on 1 account I wouldn't recieve as much as on a 100 accounts with 1 post.

Yes there are diminishing returns, but the PoP worth of your comments get reset daily. Also keep in mind the other ways to improve your PoP score. For example, if someone upvotes your article comments, your PoP score increases. No one is going to upvote a spammy comment though.

I'm sure if you tried hard enough, you could find a way to "game" the system, and earn marginal returns. However I think you would find it to be much easier and rewarding to just "play by the rules"

Sorry for being vague, but it is impossible to calculate the amount of LTBcoin you will receive. Every time a new person registers and is active, the pool gets diluted, and everyone earns a bit less. From my experience, I don't think I was ever charged more then 0.0003 btc for the counterparty transaction, but often it was just 0.0001 btc. I didn't research what I depends on. If somebody knows, please share with us.

There's a sort of limit about the posts you can make in order to make LTBcoins,
after 10 posts a day you will receive the same amount of coins even if you continue with posting.

So best is to do 10 posts a day everyday, but if you are a regular poster, 2 a day is already very rewarding.

Still, even with what you would call my low activity, I got 0.088 BTC for the first week and 0.075 BTC for the last week.

And that limit, is only for forum posts or for everything that gets LTBcoin's ?

Forum posts, article comments, etc, all count towards your daily post limit. You can post as much as you want a day, but you only get rewarded PoP points for the first 10 each day. You will still receive, for example, 5 points for a magic word submission, and 1 point for a unique page view, even if you have reached already your 10 post a day limit.

Actually I was wrong, I never paid 0.0003 btc fee. I've looked into my counterwallet and all fees I paid are 0.0002 btc or 0.0001 btc.
Just so you know what to expect and how much dust you need in your wallet. I hope it helps.

Nothing!  :( Still nothing. I really hope they implement those commissions soon, because what we are doing here is we are actually watering down our own profits. The more people join LTB the more people take part in weekly distribution then there is less for each us. There are plenty of talks about referrals on LTB forums, but nothing was implemented or paid out yet.

On the positive side, the more people join LTB the higher value the LTB Network has. So this might drive the price of LTBcoin up, since you can pay for advertising in LTBcoins only. So even if you get less LTBcoins each week, your BTC value might be relatively the same? I really wish this is what’s going to happen.

Don't forget that there is 10 PoP points for the active referral.

This is not how this works.

Let's say I referred 2 new users: Fakhoury and serje.
- Fakhoury generated activity worth 15 PoP
- serje generated activity 5 PoP
Fakhoury will be considered an active referral because his activity is 10 PoP or more. This is what 10 PoP number you mentioned means. Serje is a referral, but not an active referral, because his activity is less then 10 PoP.

Once LTB starts paying for referrals, I will get paid for 1 referral, not 2, because only 1 of my refarrals was active.

I can't say I'm 100% confident, I got this information from reading related topics on LTB forums and listening to Adam on podcasts. We can be absolutely confident only once the referral bonus payments start.

My understanding is that Adam doesn't want to pay for fake referrals so people don't game the system. You need to have at least minimum activity not to be considered inactive. Minimum activity bar was set to very low number of 10 PoP, but that might change.

BTW, referrals bonus will be payed as a separate item from a separate weekly allocation. So people who get referral bonuses don't water down everybody's earnings.

Well, that is some bull. Only shows that I have one magicword when on the website it shows I did two correctly. From the podcast on the 28th July and the 1st August- two magic words.

Also, are the magicwords on all the podcasts? Since some people seem to have 4 magicwords even though there were only two LTB podcasts.

So the more that join and post and listen to the pod castes take from the same amount that fewer people did before? also the coin value dropped from what the op said? Sounds like a lot of effort for diminishing results. Not much different than higher hash rates. I just don't have to spam a ton posts in a forum to get coins with higher hash rates.

I think a lot of what you suggest are very good ideas.

We all have to remember that LTBc is very new, and in its organic stage of growth, we are rolling with the punches.
I think many new members of the forums are too concerned with the price of LTBc and how many points they can get per post etc etc.

I dont blame them for being motivated by those things, but this coin isnt really about that.
The advertising aspect is interesting. Adding the coin to other exchanges can only help exposure.

The initial distribution phase where 2.5 million coins were distributed each week is over. Supply is going to be reduced drastically now, so its a given price will move up. This is a coin which is actually useful.

You still can get coins by posting, writing articles etc.

Thats why it pays to HODL.
I think we will see a rise in price, especially if/when the coin gets added to a legit exchange

This is exactly how I'm thinking about it too. If LTBc increases in price then great and there are many reasons already listed why it can increase in price. If not we're still making very nice profit even given the lower price. Still far higher profits then any signature campaigns or faucets can offer.

But I will be listening to podcasts and reading articles on LTB anyway, additional profit is a nice bonus. I was listening to LTB podcast way before any LTBcoin was paid and I totally enjoyed it.

I'm trying to make a point in this thread that if you "mine" LTBc and sell them for BTC every week then you will make more BTC vs if you would just be mining BTC straight.

BTW, one of the advantages of "mining" BTC through LTBc is that you have no electicity costs and no hardware costs.

There will be 510M LTBcoins, so given $1 price it would mean all of them would cost about $0.5B. So LTB network value would be comparable to half billion. Half billion is not a size of a public company yet, but it's a size of a company that can go public in maybe a few years...

When I've made the first post there were about 300-400 active users on LTB, now the recent data shows 800. So we can safely assume that you will get less. But you will still make a very nice profit. Way more profit then you would get from any signature campaign here. Also LTB is fun and super interesting if you're into Bitcoin.

Reward has dropped sharply this week. Getting more and more difficult to earn each day. Feel glad I got some of the initial distribution.

Did the rest of you guys experience the same? The number of active users increased some from 800 to 900. So I wouldn't expect a very sharp drop in the rewards.

The rewards are given by number of users divided by amount of Lbtc so more users less coins. Also the coin price has dropped dramatically.

This week there was an interesting increase in the number of active users, we are about 1141 and this will mean an higher LTB value in some days.

it also mean less coins for everyone, same thing as a mining, you won't get more, and the value is decreasing right now, which make the thing worse, i hope it recover later

Devs have fixed a bug a couple of days ago which didn't count correctly the posts made during the week.

I registered two weeks ago. On an average I make a couple of posts a day, listen to all podcasts and put in the magic words. It gives me around 4500 LTBcoins a week.

High difficulty arises from the use of the ASIC, so those people only mine it.

I made 3k this week, but holding on to my coins.

Of course it's a great discussion!  :D
mmm... you just have to take a look to the coin volume... very low and to be a great coin or let people believe on it, volume it's very important...

No volume usually = dead coin, take a look to the markets without volume on Bittrex for example, do you think that people is interested on that coins? IMAO, not.  ;)
