It would, but if people think "ah, no one, won't bother" then it won't get started, so I can see requiring an email and zip to look.

I can see that as a good idea but I can also see the opposite as true "can't see any orders, won't bother"

Maybe there should be a faq explaining the nuances of the system because you can see the order book if you just enter a postcode. you are told "Email can't be blank" but it also opens the order book with that postcode ....

This should be able to get your location from your browser like google maps etc can. I don't think my swedish zip-code will do much good.

No, bitcoin is the currency of denomination, disclaimers are not expected or necessary as far as I'm aware. Shareholdings are considered differently.

I think the defining feature of Ubitex will be the persistent rating system of the users. None of the other sites seem to provide this service, so it should definitely stand out due to that.

I just fixed a bug with IPGeocoder, is this still happening?

seems to be down, "Something went wrong"

it would be cool if you could use a long/lat (ie taken from google maps)

I offered to buy, but your code has a bug in the zip code handling.
My 5-digit zip code has a leading zero (02144) and it showed up as "2144".
Can't fix it for you, I'm not a Rails person.

famulus, great idea, but I was wondering. If I didn't want to buy or sell, just browse the list of nearby trades for future reference, is there a way to do that?

It uses googles geo API.  So it should work internationally. Just some debugging needed.

Hm, ok, it's just that it says “Near zip code / postal code” on the frontpage, and entering a Danish zip code doesn't do much good…

I'm constantly amazed at how spread out bitcoin users are... I signed up when you first posted this, and I was the only one on the list.  Just checked again: same result.  I don't mean to disparage your site, though!  I think it will become very useful soon, and I appreciate that you opened up the code.  I've noticed the same trend with bitmunchies.  I offer grocery pickup in Denver, but none of my customers are even from Colorado.  We can't be that far from critical mass, though... $40M-$50M is definitely real money.

I've finally fixed a huge Geocoding bug that was causing failure every 4th request.

I signed up a while ago, trying to sell some BTC (and I'm in one of the largest cities in the world). So far haven't been able to find a buyer.

I'd rather avoid exchanges if possible. I might have to start putting craigslist ads to sell my coins.

Well, it told me "Post success!" but then it didn't actually list my email address.

Thank you for this site, it has really helped me get into the BTC market easily.

It worked for me just now in the UK, and there's a list of 60+ UK users there, so I guess it's working for them too. :)
