what happened to the original coin/dev?

It would be fairly involved. Finding coders to save scam coins isn't easy. These scam devs have no skills either,  so when they are put on the spot as they were not even good enough to make themselves anonymous, when they tried, they are not the person for the job. Not that they could or would ever do it.

He said he quit and he locked the thread so nobody can talk any more.

The only thing to do now, as we know we have a legit (maybe talented) dev, is a coin swap, something like summercoin, let's go for a darkcash 2.0!
He seems the need to start a new coin, but a swap would be the fairest thing to do.
What do you think all?

This coin is worth to takeover.It's already on bittrex and even on bter.com.Saved a lot efforts to put on exchanges.

I dumped the coin at a loss myself as this rarely works out. Shame, as it had a good name and we would have hit 10k easy, by now, had he just checked in. Didn't show up until people found out his ID.

The original dev of DarkCash in my opinion is weak. Promise something and didn't deliver, then he locks his thread because he can't handle criticism/FUD which is a part of the crypto world. That just doesn't sound like someone that should lead a project period, let alone start another one.

It's also on Poloniex also. A takeover and forking it is a must now to keep some form of momentum going for it.

I'm glad there is some discussion going on here already.  8) The coin might end up dying in the end but people who bought the coin at least deserve a place to chat.

A coin will only die if no one puts the effort to put real development into it, originality in features and good PR. Also, have a strong will to take FUD/criticism.

So many fails, so many takeovers, so many.. asdadad.

The network will live on as long as people run the wallet. The coin will drop from the exchange if there is no developer and there are issues, or if volume drops to zero.

Are you referring to my list of preferred features? That's just a brainstorming list for fun. So far it seems like nobody else is contributing ideas. As I said, the coin is great...just be sure you have the ownership of the Github that is accepted by the Exchanges...otherwise you are doing this for the devolper that is the owner.

I'm still looking for a lead programmer but with 7vpo's funding we are sure to find something soon. Tomorrow I will start more aggressively looking at potential programmers we can recruit to the team to get the anon going.

We've been working with getting the little things sorted out today like making sure the exchanges know that our github is the new official one, and getting coin market cap to update the logo.

Also the dev we had that worked on the Mac wallet is going to help us clean up the code a little, update the logo, and help us set up more nodes so the wallet doesn't keep having the syncing problem some users have experienced.

By the way, I've told coinmarketcap.com to update our logo twice now but I'm still waiting on the second reply. Hopefully we'll get that little thing taken care of soon so our nice new logo can shine on there.

I appreciate your concern. One of the Bter.com staff has messaged me already right after I created this topic to tell me how glad he was that someone was taking over this coin. They probably were a bit disappointed to list a coin that flopped so quickly because the dev left. We hope to rectify that. I've also messaged Richie on Twitter since he follows me to let him know and I'll contact other exchanges as well. The old thread is locked and I have the full github code copied so I don't think there's any confusion in the community about who's in charge of this coin now. I'm having @jyap help out by looking at the github for me just to make sure I have everything copied correctly. On github there's a simple repo import function so I believe everything was copied perfectly. I tested adding a commit too even though I'm not a coder yet. :) To be honest I have some interest in learning to code coins but that's a long process, for this project I'm focused on hiring a lead programmer to get the technical aspects of this coin flowing. I hope everyone can see that between me and 7vpo we have all of the peripheral aspects taken care of such as websites and Twitter promotion.

Mostly, it has a great name, and since EVERY FAKE ANON COIN is a scam anyway, this one has more potential than those.

 It would be sort of fun to make it into some kind of success without the the original dev. ;)

We dont need forums thats irrelevant. We need coders and solid updates, roadmaps, whitepapers and release dates. Lets get these ideas flowing. The potential of this coin is enormous,  lets get things flowing, be confident in your coin.

We are already working on these issues. At the moment we are waiting for a series of information for completing the web site. After the web site is open, a roadmap (if necessary) an official forum will easily be published.

Hey guys I just wanna add a quick update. I'm really excited to see the increasing involvement from other people. I think this will be able to get done a lot better with more support from everyone.

That said I apologize I was not online yesterday at all on Friday US time. I had work and I was also super worn out from staying up all night on Wednesday and it finally hit me. Neither me nor 7vpo are programmers. 7vpo however as you can see is very skilled at graphic design as he made the awesome new logo and he's working on the website as well. He also is good at setting up web servers and helped get all the new nodes set up.

I'm mostly an investor/miner/pundit myself and I have a Twitter account that's posted in OP and I have a lot of followers including Erik Vorhees and Richie from Bittrex. Bter.com also contacted me. I have also put out ads on Twitter for a new programmer.

So we have a great promotional team, all we need is a programmer to join the team. I've gotten some good tips and leads in personal messages both here and on Twitter and I hope that some time this week we can finally get a good programmer working on this project again. Both me and 7vpo also know some potential programmers. It's not an instantaneous process getting something like this to start again after the original dev left, but that's what we're here for. We're going to make it happen.

Right now we have at least stabilized the project and we're getting a good direction going again. I think with the community support we are already seeing things are going to go well.

Just to make it clear, Darkcoin's Masternodes are not open source yet, so they can't be implemented yet. But we want to put anon in ASAP. Ideally we could get something going like XC where they had nodes that required a certain number of coins and payed the people running them. It all depends on how fast we can get a new programmer. That's what we're working hard on right now. If you have any programmers you know who could work on this project let us know.

I am friends with one of the XC guys, I think he was going to contact you about helping with a wallet or something. XC is very solid anon tech, even in the earlier versions. We also talked about it, and that is good status for XC Devs to be helping out coins, sort of like Rat4 of Blackcoin helping POS coins in the past. (Gives them more status as a gold standard - and of course Darkcash has a great brand and such)

I think 7vpo would agree that we would gladly accept whatever help we can get. Ideally we would like a programmer to see the potential that 7vpo and I have created here in reviving this community that the original dev abandoned, and they would want to join our team and create a great new thing. I think there's potential with the DarkCash brand as you say. Also nobody can criticize this project as a copy cat or a scam since this is entirely community driven and funded. We're just people from the community like everyone else trying to make this coin work again. Please by all means talk to your friend and see if they are interested!

Yes basically this. The potential good news would be that the dev would give us an offer and we would hire them. Obviously it hasn't happened yet so it's not guaranteed. I just want to let you guys know we are actually talking to someone.

As a result of attempts made by human sources, we have met with people who has C/C++ knowledge at advanced level. 6 of totally 242 candidates are cryptologists. Our dialogues will continue during this week. On August 16, we have a big meeting. At the moment, many of our software developers are researching source codes.

At the very latest, within 3 weeks i personally will announce 2 developers.

We are still talking to developers. We are still working on it, don't worry. 7vpo owns a Turkish IT company and he is very serious about building infrastructure for this coin. It will happen soon. We're not giving up. I'm sorry you lost money but that's not our fault. We are just community members like you trying to rebuild this coin after the original dev abandoned it.

In the meantime you can help us by trying to promote, or if you or anyone you know is willing to set up a faucet, multipool, etc. We are kind of on hold at the moment as we are waiting on a particular developer to get back to us before we make more changes since we are likely going to change the code a lot since this coin was forked from Hackcoin, which is bad code.

7vpo and his Turkish IT company and myself see a lot of value in the DarkCash brand and the fact that this coin is on many exchanges. We are serious about doing business with this coin.

We had a series of problems about seed nodes due to the fact of high bandwith usage. You may experience problems in sync. Nodes that are new and have unlimited bandwith are about to be setup. Thank you for your patience.

What's up? We've been waiting for the past few days for a dev to get back to us but it's taking a while. I have a few other leads that I'll try and contact tomorrow I think. We also of course have 7vpo's devs which he knows IRL which will be a sure shot. But of course we want something ASAP.

I was thinking SDcoin's anon if they release tomorrow would be nice to have. Stealth addresses are great.

Windows wallet is still experiencing Sync issues. It is spotty at times.. It tells me I am behind by 13445 blocks one minute and the next minute it is synced.. Not sure?

Heej, learn some more about coins. My wallet does strange things sometimes it says it doesn´t sync and do a whole day nothing and i restart it and says coins gedolft- but not accepted. and that happend over more than 20x. What´s wrong with the wallet? and Why does the wallet say it is on block48000+ and my wallet is stil on 34577 14000+blocks? I have got 2 wallets now with the same problem. Block 34791 from 49029 -14237 left70%done?
I have several times do an update without deleting wallet.dat and still stock on the same problem?

Ya we're aware of this issue. We're getting devs to fix the code. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you just wait a while, it usually fixes itself. I know, it's annoying.

Really if you think about it, this is just a roadmap anyway. When people see us actually getting work done then confidence will return. That will definitely happen soon. Also the dates are very conservative. 7vpo wanted to pick dates he knows 100% will be met. We may also add other features ahead of schedule, and we are going to develop some other original tech down the road. This is a work in progress. The coolest thing to me is the meeting that's happening next week with the Turkish devs. 7vpo is basically building a team that he can make coins with professionally. I think we'll see some good things out of that. He's going to post pictures of the meeting so you guys can see.

I dont know I dont think I really have time to wait months for wallet releases, when other teams are working around the clock to get this work done asap. Why wouldnt I just invest in the failing darkcoin if all this coin does is copy it? I sold a few hundred thousand. Still got a few left.  But dissapointing but good luck. I had high hopes. A takeover is a high risk investment. But saying that i like the name and the team seems very enthusiastic. So their is potential.
I picked up some coins and wish the team good luck with their endeavor.
But bear in mind that the longer it takes to get the ball rolling -The less chance their is that it will roll.

I'm on IRC now going to try and get an update from our dev. Hope everyone is doing alright with BTC going so poorly.

Ok I just talked to our dev and he has sync issues fixed, and Cloakcoin's Proof of Stake Anon implemented. He's just waiting on new computer parts to compile the Windows wallet so we should be ready finally in a day or two. His friend is compiling the Mac wallet and Linux wallet is already done. After we release our first major fork to the exchanges we'll continue forward with more features.

He is building this team to make another coin, but he has said he will contribute their support to this coin as well. He is a DarkCash investor and the financier of this takeover project so he wants to see it succeed.

As far as the Masternodes, it looks like Darksend+ was just succesfully released but their price is falling. I'm also not sure if it's open source yet but I'm going to check. Admittedly there are better solutions on the horizon such as ring signatures and Zerocash. I might put up a vote thread to see if people are still interested in seeing Masternodes installed in this coin when they are open sourced.

We might have other ideas to reward node hosts for other features if Masternodes aren't interesting to people any more. These features are still being discussed though and I'm not ready to say what those are.

He will  work (including Darkcash) with us as a main developer of our new coin, which is using x11 algorithm and completely PoW and flexible block reward. We will release it before the end of October.

here is the official status of the wallet. if has a bunch of new features in it. it has built in IRC chat now. checkpoints added into the wallet. it has a built in block explorer. the PoSA is done.... its being a bit buggy, im trying to fix that before i give it out. the first two things i tried with PoSA failed. so this is the third run of a new poSA build. third time is the charm right. XD
a linux, windows, and mac wallet will get released when i perfect it. The PoSA has one time addresses to send coins making it possible to send coins from you to your friend without it coming from your main wallet address that shows up in block explorers.

ALSO, i have a multipool that is in the alpha stage right now. that will probably undergo a week of testing. being tested by a small group of people. DARKCASH WILL BE AVAILABLE on the multipool once i test the pool and payment conversion to POS coins is added. (probably a week from now maybe, im not actually too sure on that). so that is also something to look forward to
