You used paypal, just file a chargeback. You'll probably win, but you still risk having your account locked because you broke their TOS. If you paid for goods then you will have some very good chance to ger your money back if you paid for service/virtual goods then you can be sure the money is gone. Even though it's paypal, there is no reason to refuse escrow. Payment can be reversed either way.
What's escrow going to do in this situation? You obviously don't understand how paypal works, or you haven't read the sticky title. Escrow would prevent the buyer from getting scammed. Now he has to wait for the paypal dispute or cc charge back and risk his account getting closed. If the seller of BTC is going to accept paypal knowing the risk, why not use escrow to protect the buyer?
