Title: Solar Panels Antminer Guide [WIP]
Post by: Lucky7Gaming on August 08, 2014, 07:53:38 PM
Solar Panels Powering Bitmaintech Antminer S1 or S3

Parts:
Panels
Charge Controller (12v or 24v, at least 30a 12v, or 15a 24v for one antminer S1/S3)
Lead Acid Batteries
Antminer S1 or S3, running at 12v
If in 24v setup, then connect a 24v to 12v step down
Cables and Connectors
PCI connector
Optional if you want wall power over the nighttime:
Power Supply
dpdt Relay

1. Panels

Place Panels outside in sunny area, perferrably south facing, route cables to controller

2. Charge Controller

Take the wires from the Solar Panels and place them into the connectors and crimp them.  Connect the solar panel's connectors to the solar panel ports on the charge controller.  Next, connect the batteries to the battery ports on the charge controller.  WARNING:  Make sure if the panels are 12v, then the batteries are 12v, and if the panels are 24v, then either make sure the 12v batteries are connected to make 24v, or use a 24v lead acid battery.

3.  Antminer Connection

12v: use two male pci connectors and connect the wire sides to the output of the charge controller and then connect the male cables into the antminer s1 or s3.
24v:  connect the output of the charge controller to the 12v step down converter, then connect the converter to the male connector, and then plug it into the antminer.

Nighttime Power:

If you want nighttime power, then connect the output of the charge controller(after converted to 12v with converter) and the output of the computer power supply into the NO and NC of the DPDT relay, and the corresponding terminals.  Then connect the output of the relay to the antminer with the male pci cable.

Ask questions or share knowledge below, I haven't tested this myself but I'm pretty sure this'll work.

your charge controller doesnt give u a stable 12v

I have 2 150w12v panel and just received 2 250w24v panel and i can assure you i wont even try to connect my antminer without proper voltage regulation

for the price it cost me already just for 4 panel and 2 controller im not doing this setup only for mining
