Title: Computer 6950
Post by: lightlord on March 26, 2012, 08:16:25 PM
Hello, I have read that under clocking the video card to 300 memory was a factor determined by the video card bios. And flashing on some cards would be necessary.
But for the life of me I am confused at what happened. I wasn't able to under clock my ati 6950 memory to 300 memory. But the computer with two 6870s did it flawless. However I switched hard drives and
the same thing should apply. But no the ati 6870 now can't under clock to 300 memory stuck at 1050,
and the ati 6950 can now go to 300 easily.

This terribly confuses me? Maybe the cards are being tricked from the sudden switch?
Could I just clone the whole hard drive and get the same results on both?
I thought you needed to flash the video card bios?

Is there a folder where the ati drivers are located? Can I just copy the ati drivers from this computer to the other? Help clarify things for me I am confused! I am using msi after burner, all unlocked with code.
I tried 10 other programs nothing worked. I did hours of research. But I did a hard drive swap out
of curiosity and it magically worked in reverse?

Thanks
lightlord

Heh somtimes I post and never get a reply  :-[
Must be doing something wrong I guess.

And sometimes I post saying this above.
Then it goes completely off
topic too  ???

Oh well. Not a big deal just an interesting find that's all.

Use MSI Afterburner, work perfectly to underclock 6950 memory clock.

I tried 10 other programs nothing worked.

That was under the 10 programs I had tried. Msi, clocktweak, atitool, etc.

Have you tried using the over/underclocking tools within CGminer to adjust the memory?
I have a few cards (Absolute shit cards) with the same problem, and I couldn't adjust anything with ANY program.
Except CGminer. Which I think is total bullshit, but whatever.

If you do use cgminer, be aware that un-flashed bioses on 69x0 will only allow you to set the memory to 125 lower than the engine clock speed.

RBE might be able to help you write a solid BIOS. If swapping Harddrives made a difference, I'd like to assume the possibility of a driver problem. What drivers are you using?
