Title: Free Bitcoins site in development
Post by: Matoking on March 30, 2012, 02:43:15 PM
I started programming in PHP not a long time ago and as an exercise decided to create a Bitcoin-related site. It currently looks like this :

The idea is that the visitor can break a crate every 24 hours for free. The crates have different amounts of Bitcoins inside, alongside with ultra rare jackpots. The site would rely on people advertising through Operation Fabulous and Anonymous Ads or voluntarily donating Bitcoins. (I've been too lazy to code an advertising system like which Daily Bitcoins and CoinAd have :P)

The site is almost ready for launch at the moment, but I'd like to know if people are interested in this idea enough to make it feasible first. :)

What protections will there be from bots impersonating human actions?

I like the look of it and think it's a great idea.

I do agree with Stephen's question also. If somebody found a way to bot/exploit this site it wouldn't be around very long and wouldn't be good for advertisers/donaters to lose money to less than desirable people

Proxies are forbidden. CAPTCHA has to be entered when giving the Bitcoin address, although I haven't implemented that just yet. Just implemented it.

CAPTCHA

Problem solved!

Though you might want want to look into the one that BItcoin Faucet uses, as Gavin describes here:

But there are always many people wanting free bitcoins, even cent or sub-cent amounts.  You'll get visits!  Thanks for participating!

I'm using reCAPTCHA at the moment, but I'll take a look at that too. :)

I'll also need to figure out what web hosting to use. Cinfu looks cheap, but that's not necessarily a good thing.
