Title: Opps.. Post by: aaa801 on April 02, 2012, 12:33:10 PM I just recieved a x8 to x16 adapter that i thought would work with my slots (should of looked first, thoght the normal pci slot was a x8 :@)
Is there anyone in england that has a x1 adapter and would be willing to trade? Title: Re: Opps.. Title: Re: Opps.. Post by: DeathAndTaxes on April 02, 2012, 12:49:36 PM Yeah I am confused about what which slot you are looking to use?
PCIe x1 slot (which is not a "normal PCI slot")? or a normal PCI slot (which will require a different and significantly more expensive adapter than a PCIe x1)? Title: Re: Opps.. Post by: aaa801 on April 02, 2012, 12:57:05 PM i have a pcie x1 on my mobo, and 2 normal pci slots which i thought was x8 slots due to the similar size on the images

do THIS http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/249291-30-card NOT this http://www.invisiblerobot.com/pcie_x1/ ;) Just tape up the exposed pins on the x8 adapter Title: Re: Opps.. I dont want to go damaging my mobo slots for nothing here ;) It can be done. The other option is to cut the "fingers" of your PCIex8 extender with a dremel tool so only the PCIex1 "fingers" remain. Wrap the cut portion in electrical tape. A mistake there only ruins a $10 extender. :) Title: Re: Opps..
