If any anyone on this site can get some in mint condition, I would be willing to pay double their value (in Bitcoin, of course).

i am surprised we even need coins in this world. it is very annoying having coins. i never carry more than like 60 bucks of cash on me at a time, and usually it stays in my wallet for about a few months straight. no reason to use cash when u got a cc that gives 1% off every purchase.

Unfortunately, the flaw is that if everyone gets 1% back, then nobody really gets anything back because prices are 1% higher to pay for it.

20 Aug 2014. About circulation of coins made of composite materials

Since 22 August 2014 Trandsdniestr Republican Bank (TRB) issues coins made of composite materials with face values 1, 3, 5, 10 [transdniestrian] roubles (directorate order from 12 Aug 2014, Protocol № 39).

      Common features:
     - made of composite materials;
     - semitransparent;
     - hard smooth surface;
     - do not bend, do not crack;
     - distinguish "bone" sound when tapping.

     Protective features:
     - contour and direct mictotext;
     - UV-fluorescent fibers;
     - UV-fluorescent graphical elements;
     - UV-fluorescent transparent elements;
     - elements selectively absorbing IR rays.

The coins issued by TRB is fully legal payment tender on the territory of Transdniestr Republic. They must be accepted by all entities and persons according to the coins face value.

An ''excellent goal in the kitty'' for Bitcoin community. And this certainly shows that Bitcoin is here to stay and most inevitably take a greater percentage of the roles played by FIAT.

What does this have to do with Bitcoin?

Got to admit these are not the best looking coins I have seen however I guess with plastic notes now being in circulation we were sure to see plastic coins be released as well. I guess in time the way they look will not be a problem considering what they will be used for.

All the coin vending machines won't work in that country.

The shape reminds me of these old ass greek roman coins.

The prices are more then 1% higher then they otherwise be because banks charge more then 1% to merchants for accepting credit cards.

Yeah many countries are issuing plastics notes and now coins, good way to protect the environment and recycle the plastics also,people wouldn't dump plastic while you make the plastic money

Fantastic, I think its weight is lighter than regular coin, so if bring a lot of coins, when carry it in large quantities, we will not feel the weight, maybe next time I hope in creating coins lighter than plastic ...  ;D

Was only a matter of time was my first response too.  With inflation being so persistent in our present economic system countries are running out of metals that can be used to make their lowest denomination coins.  I wonder if the USA will do something like this for their .01 USD coin or give it up like Canada did with their penny?
