Title: [BUYING] 2 Programming Tutorial Screencasts (2 BTC each)
Post by: kiba on May 08, 2011, 04:56:23 AM
I am willing to buy three good 5 minute tutorial screencasts for the following three areas:

1. Beginning Javascript

2. Beginning Python

3. Basic Sorting Aglorithms (demonstrated in javascript)

The format will be very plain, no frill, no music, no fancy special effect, etc. The lecturer will not appear in the video, etc. Look to KhanAcademy for inspiration.

The code shown must works and should not be too difficult to code. If you make mistakes in the process of coding, that's ok. Just make sure you get it done by 5 minutes. Be clear in your speaking and make sure people can understand without difficulty.

To prevent duplication of work, you are welcome to offer your service in the thread and lock in. I will set a reasonable two days deadline.

All videos and content commissioned by me will be placed under the public domain to the greatest extent possible. I will use them to start a new site.

All videos are to be delivered privately, not published anywhere else. I wish for the privilege of being the first to publish it.

Recommended encoding: H.264 in MP4 at 1280x720 and AAC or whatever happens to work for youtube.

Are videos 1) and 2) meant for an audience that's completely new to programming?

Sounds like fun. I'd like to give a try for all three videos.

Does one user need to do all of these, or can they choose one?

Also, how "basic" are the Javascript and Python videos?

Now that I think about it, I suppose I should probably stick with one at a time and let others do videos too. Since I'm more familiar with Javascript, I'd rather start with that one. I should have something to show by Monday.

1280x720 might not be an option for me, but I'll see what I can do. I'll definitely find the best resolution I can use for YouTube.

I hate to bail, but I just found out my microphone is broken, and I can't really do this without one. Sorry!

Alright, I should have it soon, but don't start the clock yet.

EDIT: To be sure, do you want be to explain:

1. How to install.
2. What to use to program python. (I would suggest IDLE for the short tutorial, but mention others breifly)
3. What python really does (bytecode, what interpreted means, etc)

Or do you want me to get right into coding?

I could do both Python and basic sorting algorithm - if I were allowed to do this one in Python, as well (I feel far more confident with it than in JS).

Sent you an e-mail.

I would like javascript for sorting algorithm. I am still waiting on the person who's doing python. If I can't get anything out of him...than I'll talk to you.

I don't want to be a force to make you wait, the reason I can't do it yet is because I have finals. (it all ends in 2 days). I will still sent you it when I have it done, for free, if it has already been paid for. (Worse case scenario, I can just add it to my portfolio)

Alright, I am giving you a chance to complete this. It is due May 29th, 2011, 20:00 UTC.  IF you can't complete it by that date, I will ask someone to do it for me.
