Title: Litecoin - feature request
Post by: EskimoBob on April 14, 2012, 09:36:16 AM
#1 multiple wallet support
Make it easy to switch and add wallets

#2 multiple signatures for completing a payment
For business use, with 2 or more owners
See github: https://github.com/coblee/litecoin/issues/9

#3 compressed, signed tx package to reduce the update/start of new installations
one source and hard coded to official release? Github?

Lets stay on topic for a change :)

The wallet side is probably best handled by adapting the Armory (Armoury?) client to Litecoin once that client completes its memory usage fixes.

Looks like the total hashrate and difficulty charts on the web come and go.

#4 - (plugin) daily charts plugin for the client. Shows total LTC hashrate and difficulty (daily history)

#5 - (plugin) export transaction history to csv

#6 - add messages to transactions (local db) and can be exported (see #5)

So much for Litecoin !

Epic fail : both blockexplorers are DOWN currently.

Asking for other stuff is already ironical when you don't have the most basic thing : a web block explorer to see balances etc.

I think pool-x.eu has a port 80 mining.

Maybe even ejpool.info

Thank you for that information !

I searched extensively and none of the LTC pools advertise their port 80 support.

It does indeed seem that Pool-X and Elitist Jerks support port 80 mining for LTC.

Upon program exit make the GUI not close itself until the program completely ends! Because it usually takes over 30seconds until the process ends, so you cannot switch off the computer until this or cannot restart the client until the previous instance really ends which you can see only in task manager. This is a bit confusing and there is a potential risk of data files corruption IMHO...

Good point.

I added it to github: https://github.com/coblee/litecoin/issues/43

I'd like a site that lists the full up to date historical data of LTC/BTC and LTC/USD.

I don't have the skills but maybe if the LTC/BTC/NMC exchange gets built in to the LTC/BTC gambling, poker, lotto, sports book and casino gets done that I'm launching a GLBSE IPO to pay for then maybe?

OK so will there ever be a new version of Litecoin wallet and daemon? The current versions are like half a year old...

You could do a git pull request and make the updates needed.

Just saying...  ;D

Man, I am not a developer. I am tester ;D I have a talent to find every possible problems in software which usually nobody is able to help me then :-]
But I suggested a feature already. Check above.

Currently testing the latest code and will release a new version soon. Come by #litecoin-dev on IRC freenode.net if you want to help test it.

As litecoinpool gets near 51% of the network, it begs to question whether or not something could be added to the protocol to protect from the possibility of a 51% attack. For example what if when one party start to get near 51% the protocol automatically "freezes" former blocks to prevent any 'rewriting' of past transactions. By doing this automatically it might give us some piece of mind.

I think the problem is that there's no way to tell if two blocks come from the same entity. We know the hashing power of pools just because pools make their numbers public.
Maybe someone will come and prove me wrong, but I don't think there's any sensible way to completely avoid the possibility of a 51% attack without giving up decentralization.

The good news, let me state this once again, is that even if one single entity has 51% of the hashing power it doesn't mean that this entity is going to use it to attack the chain.
On the other hand, it would be preferable if miners who want to mine in a pool took advantage of the many Litecoin pools (https://github.com/coblee/litecoin/wiki/Comparison-of-mining-pools) that are available, instead of concentrating in one single pool.

I think that was completed long time ago.
You probably need to let your browser know about it.

Cool drag and drop works, but for the life of me I cannot make either bitcoin-qt or litecoin-qt accept the URI's from the cmd line, they complain about an already running instance.
Can you provide an example ?
