If anyone else would like to post their mining set-up/anticipated set-up to be discussed please feel free to!!

I'm trying to get non-newbie status and I'd rather spend it being productive than be a derfer.  ;D

Have you considered FPGA

were you planning on running BAMT(Linux) or windows? Because I suspect there might be issues with mixing different gpus under windows. My 3x5870+1x5970 system won't play nice on win7x64. I hope you got good ventilation ;)

Any idea's about the total power consumption?

I would recommend personally buying a high end gaming laptop from a source such as alienware or similar and then joining a mining pool.

Also choosing your miner is essential.

I've heard great things about diablo miner but currently I am using an experimental one called pristine miner.

A friend developed it using scripts he found from various miners and it exploits a basic principle which allows one block to be hashed multiple times which increases the speed of mining exponentially.

heres the link for download:

2 HD6870 589MH/s
1 HD5870 408MH/s

if your mobo permits you should consider selling or trading the 6870s for more 5870s, since 6870s are twice the price of 5870s and don't put out nearly the same MH/s/$

I definitely plan on running a Linux OS specifically for mining, though at this point I'm not sure if it's going to be BAMT or Ubuntu or Linuxcoin or what. Actually, any guidance in this area of software choice would be greatly appreciated.

And of course, good ventilation will be good  8)

Any idea's about the total power consumption?

each 5870 uses up approx. 188W (+10% for overclock and +10% factor of safety) = 226W ea.
1 StablePower 750W for 3 x 226W = 678W
1 StablePower 750W for 2 x 226W (+200 for system power) = 652W

Despite not being commonly used, the Xclio StablePowers are actually top tier in terms of efficiency and stable output.

Not seriously. But that's because I'm not that familiar with FPGA mining.

It seems that the biggest advantage of using FPGA mining is that the MH/W is ridiculous compared to GPU mining (http://bitcoinfpga.com/).
But the MH/s/$ rate is much lower, though I would be very interested if someone can produce a cost/profit over time graph for these FPGA compared to a relatively standard 4 GPU mining rig. The DIY FPGA by rph seems quite promising though (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=44891.0) if I was learned in the art of soldering that is...

Yeah man its a great little program.

It really speed up my hashing rates and I've already seen better payout times.

Want to get a mining pool up and running or learn more about the mining pool scene in general.

Look forward to spending more time on the forums.

Thats great.

Thats exactly what its supposed to do it edits the binary reaction your computer has to the bitcoin hashing algorithm and reenters it to allow for multiple block hashing.

All the rest is beaurocratic hoopla.

But for the sake of peace I'll refrain from posting it any more.

Besides Spooky Snacks just got a bunch of investors to fly him out to florida to further discuss the potential of pristine miner!

He sent our co developer a video before he met up with them and we are using it for promotional purposes!

Heres the link for authentication : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FKBAHPB3WQ&feature=youtu.be

NOT a download link.

This sentence makes no sense. You sound like a complete idiot.

All the rest is beaurocratic hoopla.

Graet is the pool owner/operator of http://ozco.in which is one of the best run bitcoin mining pools. Again, you have made yourself look like a complete idiot.

But for the sake of peace I'll refrain from posting it any more.

This sentence makes you seem a little smarter.

Funny that your buddy has a Gators hat on and is in Florida. Maybe he already lives there......

Again, quite a lot of lulz that your buddy who already lives in Florida is shooting a video of himself in Florida.

The fact of the matter is pristine miner is cutting edge mining technology that no one can deny.

And its taking off so get with the program

Looks like a rootkit to me. Everyone that said this is legit/looks legit should be banned.

Well now, be fair. The only one to use the phrase 'legit' was me. And I didn't say 'this is legit' or 'looks legit', I said 'seems legit' which is completely different: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/seems-legit-sounds-legit (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/seems-legit-sounds-legit).

Oh, okay now I understand. So it's a bit like these curtain rings copper bracelets which hold up curtains really well re-align my chakras by altering their quantum vibrational energies so they return to a more balanced state.

I sincerely hope that was supposed to be a blatant joke ...
6hrs 19min mining at U:115.33 is 43,710 shares ... not 5,806 shares ...
So whoever did the fake fucked it up :)

Not bad for three 6950's Cards eh ?

This guy really knows his shit ! He taught himself A+ !

Pristine Miner with the 'Turbo-Boost' switch turned on really speeds up the cards by manipulating how your PC sees the algorithm..

My total system hashing has gone from 6GH/s to over 30GH/s using the same hardware and a simple software upgrade because the guy(s) who wrote this software know alot about security and the hashing algorithm ......definately high level miners.
It's like an expansion pack, but I feel 'they' said it best....

bitlane, your posts seem to be taking this seriously and promoting it - when all it is is a scam to get people to download malware.

I have reported you directly to the mods in the hope of having you banned from bitcointalk

Taking any of this seriously and advertising them is paramount to helping them scam people since the download is malware

The guy in those videos is a moron and clearly knows almost nothing about bitcoins and bticoin mining

Are you fucking SERIOUS ? Your Sarcasm Radar needs a bit of work....as do your social skills. Sheltered life much ?

Are you THAT stupid to realize that this is a hillarious premise, not to mention, I NEVER STARTED THE FUCKING THING.

This is almost as bad as the guy a while back that faked a screenshot of a big sale of BTC and sent the rubber-neckers into a panic to SELL SELL SELL !.....then got left negative feedback because people were too stupid to realize that he was joking.

I would hate to think that a fake screenshot and a repost to a video link of an idiot would get me banned from Bitcointalk.org, but if it does, so be it.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you have played the 'victim' your entire life and have nothing to really show for anything, in terms of friends, respect but perhaps the odd suicidal tendency. Sound about right ?

Now, back down to your mom's basement and dream about girls (or guys, I won't judge).

<EDIT>
1 last thing ASS-HAT...
WHERE IS THE MALWARE FILE THAT I AM PROMOTING ?

Perhaps you should get ALL of your facts straight BEFORE you start crying about right and wrong.

Then don't be the fool of continuing to promote something that is a scam after the question of your joke has been clearly raised.

Why you would continue to promote them (even as a joke) is beyond stupidity.
Posting links to their videos in a noob section of the forum is directly promoting them - obviously enough, at least some of the people in this section don't know much about bitcoins.

I think this statement is more than clearly obvious: "I sincerely hope that was supposed to be a blatant joke ..."

Yet you continued to post material after that, that could only be classified as promoting them without any attempt to clarify it was a joke.

Read all of your posts from the point of view of a bitcoin noob and you will see that your joke promotes the problem.
Be it a joke or not - continuing it without regard, until my statement saying I've reported it to the forum mods - is again, stupidity.

Don't quote your own life and apply it to others - you'll be wrong.

Also, I'm not sure which of my 3 ex's you are referring to that you think I should be dreaming about, but the last of those 3, the mother of my 2 kids, is certainly not on that list.

Okay so after talking it over with spooky we have decided to scrap promotions of pristine miner as well as the top secret unhackable wallet we are working on and take Deathbylollipop entertainment into a whole new direction.

Spooky snacks goes into it in our last video on the pristine miner campaign: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGMB_FUQXRA

Once again youtube video not a download or any sort of malware.

5 cards may or may not require disabling an onboard device or two to get your OS to boot and recognize all five. A lot of serious miners suggest powered risers over 4 cards - you may want to research this, I can't remember specifics. I run the MSI-GD70 boards - boots ubuntu 10.04+ with 4+ 5xxx and 6xxx series mixture of cards, I've only tested up to 6.

What devices might need to be disabled do you think?

As for your 4+ card setups, did you have to use powered risers? Because from what I've lightly researched, only high powered cards such as 5970s and 6990s need powered risers.

Just coz the guy is disabled does not give him any respect for being a scam artist.
The guy is a douche bag.
I wonder why your account is still even here on the forum after you purposely posting a malware link here.
What he is talking about is a complete load of crap.
He knows it and you know it.
In his video he clearly shows that he knows VERY little about bitcoin mining.
