Title: Anyone interested in an anonymous bitcoin wallet/mybitcoin type site?
Post by: CaptainPicard on May 09, 2011, 03:00:46 AM
I am thinking of building a site like this.
It would be a Tor hidden service, with functions similar to mybitcoin.
You could sell products and send/receive coins from regular bitcoin addresses, or from other members of my service.

The site would enable selling with bitcoin (API etc..), like what mybitcoin does.
I would like to do this because with the current solutions (mtgox, mybitcoin etc..) the identities of the operators of those services are known, or they are LLCs, and so subject to government interference.
Its also unknown if those services are logging bitcoin blockchains or internal transfers.

My site will be completely anonymous, my identity will not be known, the server will be hidden, so I will not keep any logs and cant be forced to spy on anyone for the gov.
There would be no daily limits like mtgox, nor any restrictions on what you can sell with it.

The service would also anonymize (launder) bitcoins.
ie. you could deposit coins, and when you withdraw them you would get back coins from a different blockchain, this prevents anyone trying to trace you by following the blockchain.

There would be no charge for this service.
What I will be getting out of it is anonymity for my own transactions.

It would obviously take alot of time and effort to build all this, so I am posting this to see if anyone is interested.
Theres no point in be building it if nobody will use it.
So please post if you think you would want a service like this.

Minor point- the blockchain is the same. It's the coins history you are mixing up...

I think the hardest part would be why would people trust you? Especially if you are completely unknown. With the "other guys", at least someone "could" get prosecuted if they run with the money. If you could develop the trust I'm sure some may be interested.

That was one of the concerns expressed by those considering trading with this exchange operating through i2p:
