When you start playing Coin-Sweeper you are presented with an 8x8 grid. Hiding behind those 64 green squares are 10 bombs and 54 shiny coins. You are rewarded for every coin you find, and your winnings can quickly start to climb. While finding the first coin doesn't pay out much the payout begins to dramatically increase as you find more and more coins. The house edge is just 1%!

For example, on an initial bet of 100 satoshi with 10 bombs your first coin revealed would turn your 100 satoshi into 117 satoshi (17% increase). While your 10th coin revealed would have your initial 100 satoshi now worth 572 satoshi (a 572% increase).

You can hedge your bets and reduce the number of bombs to just 3, or you can increase the worth of each coin by changing the number of bombs to 21! It's free to play unlimited Practice Games so feel free to head on over and try it out for yourself:

Here's what you need to know:
- The minimum bet playable is 100 satoshi (0.000001 BTC).
- The maximum bet playable is 20000000 satoshi (0.2 BTC).
- With the exception of deposits and withdrawals all transactions are handled off the blockchain. This prevents needless spam transactions.
- Your winnings are guaranteed by limiting the win per game to a percentage of our total bankroll (Currently 75 BTC). This currently means if your next click would go over 6 BTC then your current game is automatically claimed and credited to your account. As the bankroll grows, so does what can be won per game!
- Deposits are processed automatically and within seconds. You do not need any confirmations to start playing with your deposited funds.
- There are NO FEES on deposits. On withdrawals you pay a 0.0001 BTC fee to cover transaction fees.
- The server has a limited amount of BTC in the hot wallet - this means small withdrawals (sub-0.5 BTC~) are processed within seconds. Larger withdrawals (0.5+ BTC~) are done by the team manually, normally within a few hours.

A few people have been asking us where the skill is. Mathematically there shouldn't be any skill involved - every game has the same odds with a 1% edge so should have the same outcome. Over many many many games the house edge will average out to 1% of the amount gambled.

But in the real world it seems to make a big difference. When people are playing practice games (like you were) the house edge is coming out around 7.5%~ in the houses' favor. While for games with real money the house edge is coming out around 0.7%~. This suggests that whatever 'skill' or 'techniques' people are using when they play real games is making a big difference in their outcome!

It was too bad it was practice mode - a win of that size would have put your game firmly on the front page! The current biggest win (in absolute numbers, not relative) was Game #12509:

I think you have quite a neat concept, and it does seems pretty polished -- but I must say, I find this sort of talk and the strategies listed on the homepage as being very off-putting and borderline dishonest. Instead of telling people the truth, you seed them with superstitious nonsense (like lucky sha's, really?) and just in general try trick people into playing the tiles a sort of multi-armed bandit problem.

Thanks for the feedback espringe. The strategies listed aren't prescriptions or enforced. They were written for a bit of fun and to hopefully get people thinking about how they can approach the game :)

As it says under the 'Strategies' heading on the How To Play page, "In our experience people develop their own strategies for success with Coin-Sweeper. You will need to find what works best for you!". I'm sorry you feel like I've been borderline dishonest - that's not my intention. You quoted a snippet of my post and right before what you quoted I did clearly state the mathematical facts. I encourage those reading this to read my original post too in the original context (#24 in this thread).

People make their own decisions about what they do with their bitcoins. My personal experience is that people with bitcoins seem to have higher IQs than the average person (let's be fair, you need to be better with computers than the average person just to get a wallet! let alone go through the process of funding it) and I trust people to see straight through any trickery.

Going back to the original question: my read on the reason the percentages won/lost differ so much right now between real and practice games are a reflection of:
- people being more risk averse when real bitcoins are involved (or on the flip side, taking more risks when there aren't any consequences to clicking a bomb)
- the small number of games played (we're only 22,000~ games in - who knows how many games will be needed for it to converge on the 1% as written in the algorithm)

Then why do it?! How do you expect people to trust you, when you are basically saying "oh, I'm only trying to trick low IQ people". Honestly, the whole thing doesn't sit well with me...

Going to take this on board and re-visit the wording. The clearer we can make it that there is a set house edge, regardless of strategy, the better it will be for new players.

I don't think it's fair to say people who play gambling games are low IQ. They way I think about it is that when people use a service they know what to expect. If you go into a coffee shop and get charged for your coffee people don't riot in the streets, it's understood that there is a charge for that service. When people visit a physical casino they know that the majority of the people leaving are leaving with less money than they entered with, but they play for their own reasons (be it hopes of a big win, that they enjoy the gameplay, to be social, or whatever). I believe people play online games for their own reasons too, and that the website is very explicit about the presence of a house edge. I'm going to adjust the wording based on your feedback so it's even clearer :)

The same way we learn to trust or distrust others. A gradual process, based on how I behave. Trust takes weeks and months to earn and I'm not expecting anything for free. Thanks for the great questions - I'll drop a reply when the wording has been clarified, I appreciate your help :)

A better analogy might be the coffee shop advertising "Calorie Free!" and then turning around and saying: "The ingredients list says it has sugar, only a low-IQ person would think sugar has no calories". Or more concretely, if the game isn't skill based -- don't call it skill based.

Or continuing the analogy, the strategy stuff is like putting up a poster in front of your coffee shop with: "How you could get a FREE COFFEE: SMILE WHEN ORDERING THE COFFEE" to lure customers in, all the while having a no free coffee policy ("..but they COULD get a free cofee").

Coin-sweeper say they are a game of skill. This is misleading as there is no skill in this game. It's a casino game.
The strategies on the website have nothing to do with skill. You play against the house and in the end will always lose!

Its a nice game. I am really enjoying it. There is some strategy involved with regards to calculating risks. You have to decide how many squares to go for. In a way, I would regard that as sort of a strategy.

hilmy: Thanks for the suggestion of a tool to check the provably fair. We decided to mention 3rd party tools in the FAQ as we can't interfere with them. Adding a simple tool to our website and still allowing people to verify it elsewhere if they like is probably a better way to go. Given the recent corners relating to the provable fairness of one of the other dice sites we have had a request to allow for the easy export of a player's game data so they could easily verify the games were provably fair. It would essentially be a large table of text with columns showing the game ID, Secret Hash, Game Code and result so someone could write their own script to bulk check their games.

Is this something you would be interested in? We're just trying to get an idea of the demand before implementing this into the Account Area of our site.

If you're interested in this - would the raw data be enough, or would you want more than that? (i.e. like a little online tool to check the games are fair yourself)

I would be interested in that (an online tool). Primedice and dicebitcoin both have verifiers to check that their bet outcomes are provable and fair.

I've chatted with the developers about this. The error you saw is a safety mechanism in the withdrawal system. During testing we found a potential attack vector where someone could submit the withdrawal system multiple times really fast when the MySQL Database was under load, and potentially withdraw more than their balance. The way the developers protected against that is by placing a temporary lock on withdrawals for your account while each withdrawal is processed. Once it is processed the lock is removed. In normal operations you would never be aware of this lock and it would happen seamlessly in the background. In your case it sounds like the withdrawal was accidentally submitted more than once. The original request didn't execute fully (as if it had, it would have removed the temporary lock) and your account was stuck in withdrawal limbo. If this happens again (or to anyone reading this) please logout of your account and log back in and try again. We will update the error message during maintenance tonight so that it explains this more clearly.

Sorry for the delay bitcores, normally withdraws are processed instantly but we had some big winners last night. This put your withdraw in a que for our team to process manually but between 11pm and 9am European time our team is offline to sleep.

We are planning a Coin-Sweeper promotion for mid-next week but I wanted to run it past you here first. We are thinking that a lot of people might enjoy a chance to 'reset' their balance so we are going to called it: Coin-Sweeper Balance Reset Madness

This is how it will work:

An amazing idea would be if you accepted Litecoin and Dogecoin, and if you switched currency, the coins you get from digging would change in appearance.

Hi, I'm Miitch and I take care of the technical side of things for Coin-Sweeper. I'm really sorry about the last few days - it has been a *very* bumpy ride. In the last 24 hours on top of the joys of the attacks we have also just had our MySQL Database corrupt. It can't be repaired which is a disaster... I've reverted to a backup that is roughly 12 hours old and Coin-Sweeper is back online again on a different server.

Excuse my brevity but I wanted to get out a quick update. For those who are technically minded:
- we didn't lose the whole database, just the tables for player accounts and player games
- this means for players who played in the 12~ hour window of data loss your balance is likely out
- we log every balance change to a separate logs table. it is over 100,000 rows long!!! But it will be possible to re-create correct balances. it's just going to take me some time
- if your balance is higher than it should be - congratulations, consider that a little bonus for your patience while we get this sorted
- if your balance is lower than it should be - please email customer service ASAP with as much info about your account as you have: info@coin-sweeper.com (especially helpful is your deposit address and Coin-Sweeper identifier if you set one)

There is still more work to be done but I'll do my best to check this thread regularly and reply to questions related to the technical problems!

Long term we have a plan in place for a better server setup with more redundancy so these issues will become a thing of the past. We need to get these immediate problems resolved before the better setup can be implemented. In the mean time - keep enjoying Coin-Sweeper  8)

What's difference with maximum-bomb game? Do you have better profit when you choose the maximum?

With more bombs on the board, you will have a higher chance of getting a bomb and also a higher winning multiplier.

Before a game is started, you can see the "secret hash" at the bottom of the page. After you have finished it, the "Game Code" (consisting of your game ID and bomb locations) will be revealed. You can check the sha256 digest of the "Game Code" to see if it matches with the "secret hash".

Please don't tell me about hash and SHA256. Now days every gambling site uses secret hash that does not mean they are fair. Hashes can also be manipulated, its just user does not know and loses.

SHA-2 has been thoroughly analyzed by worldwide cryptographers for over a decade, and still there is no known case for collision. I don't think Coin-sweeper owner is able to find another plaintext that will hash to the same "secret hash".

The withdrawal is instant unless your withdrawal exceed the maximum of 0.5 btc, if you exceed this, your withdrawal will be manually check and process for atleast 24 hours, so you should probably wait a little more time

Hope it comes through! I got really stupid and kept clicking mines and had 27 found before I came to my senses and hit collect! If I lost that id have been sick!

What he mean is that he got the payment, if you check on coin-sweeper campaign , you can see that their signature payment is paid to their account in coin-sweeper, so that is what he means by the second one of his signature campaign withdrawal is instant
