Title: ZTEX Quad Power Adapter Alternatives in the UK? Post by: norulezapply on April 19, 2012, 09:28:05 AM I'm looking for a power adapter for the ZTEX Quad which I can purchase in the UK.
The most likely suspects at the moment appear to be laptop chargers, but most of these don't have the central pin in the barrel. The specs required (as far as I'm aware) are: DC Power Jack 12V 5A (60W) 2.1mm center pin (positive) 5.5mm diameter barrel (negative) Link to quad specification: http://www.ztex.de/usb-fpga-1/usb-fpga-1.15y.e.html#con2 (http://www.ztex.de/usb-fpga-1/usb-fpga-1.15y.e.html#con2) Quote CON3 is a standard DC power jack with 2.1mm center pin (+) diameter and 5.5mm barrel (-) diameter for a supply voltage of 4.5 V to 16 V. Searching eBay for "12V 5A 5.5 2.1" shows some possible candidates but none of them have the center pin. Any help is appreciated. Hopefully this post will help others in the UK in future also. Any regulated 12V DC supply that supplies at least 3.5 Amps. Some old netbooks have exactly such a power supply. Or take an old PC power supply. Quote CON2 is a pluggable terminal. The two outer contacts are GND (-) and the inner contact is the supply voltage (+). The center pin is on the other side of the connector. Every 5.5, 2.1 plug will work.
