I have been wondering whether TORCoin could be practical.

A protocol in which bitcoins could be exchanged for layered anonymous bandwidth, but it's not too obvious how it would work.
Another idea would be MSGCoin, a freenet-style repository in which stored shared data distributed its bitcoin payload slowly over time.

The people who think it's real still think it's a bad idea though. Which is a good thing, I think. It could spark a chain reaction of neural activity.
