It's not really true. Bitcoin is a paradigm shift, not a simple learned skill anyway. It will take making Bitcoin very simple and secure even for monkeys to use before most people will be able to.

Big hairy deal! It'll be eons before any monkey will be voted in as Head of State, with or without a MonkeyPAC.

Seriously...no, seriously...

In order for that paradigm shift to be accepted, you need to influence the minds that drive the current model. To do so, Bitcoin needs an IdeaVirus (http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/37/ideavirus.html).

They have a vaccine for that.

Nope.

The name for the effect we want in bitcoin is the network effect.

The hundredth monkey effect is a now-discredited report of, essentially, a psychic link between monkeys on physically separated islands.

For their to be a hundredth monkey effect with bitcoin there would have to be another planet with no means of communication with this one simultaneously implementing Bitcoin -- literally Bitcoin, not some independently created cryptocurrency.
