Title: Bitfare.org: Transit Passes, Bus Tickets, Subway Tokens, Add Value to Fare Cards Post by: zeerok on May 05, 2012, 06:04:07 PM I recently launched a website that enables you pay transit fares with bitcoin. This service is available for several US cities, and the list is growing as I find time to research more transit systems in other cities.
http://bitfare.org. The site is pretty simple at the moment, but if people find this useful then I might be inclined to add more features. For example, if one particular fare card system proves to be popular, then I could try to build an automatic interface for that system. As an introductory offer, we will round up to the nearest whole integer for the USD/BTC rate (right now that would be 6.0) and will fulfil small orders prior to receiving bitcoins. Enjoy! ~0K Title: Re: Bitfare.org: Transit Passes, Bus Tickets, Subway Tokens, Add Value to Fare Cards Post by: zeerok on May 04, 2013, 05:42:52 PM This project has been on the back burner for a bit, but I recently made a few improvements to the site, including:
Hope you find this service useful. Effective yesterday, the $5 fee for NYC Metrocards is waived! You now just pay the face value of the card based on the current exchange rate. We have 30-day unlimited ride cards in stock ($113). You can order other types of Metrocards, although that takes longer. ~zeerok |
