Title: Getting into BTC. Post by: Bushhy on September 28, 2014, 01:41:59 AM So i recently ran into $300 on Amazon, and have been looking at some BITMAIN ANTMINER U2 2Gh/s USB Bitcoin ASIC Miners. They are like $25 ea, and i dont know if it would be worth it to get like 7 or 8, and start mining? Or am i better getting some hashlets?

I can't comment on the hashlets - do a search, though, I'm sure there's plenty of discussion on whether they're worth the bother. Title: Re: Getting into BTC. But as said, profit, as always means huge amounts of hash power or at least efficient miners. Cloud hashing is only profitable in the same way, huge amounts but takes away from the home hobby of tinkering and managing your own pools. Strongly suggest just buying some btc now while it's low.

They have a few low cost models that you could run just to mine a little bit, but you will not make profit with them. Even with free power finding a used miner that turns a profit is tough these days.

Thanks You can buy a mildly used antminer S3 on ebay for ~$300. You will not make much money on it (perhaps, it will produce~0.5BTC), but it is fun to set it up and watch how it mines. It is not very loud and you will save money on heating during winter months as the output is heat+bitcoins. You will be able resell it 2-3 mo later for $100-150. just buying BTC is boring and teach you nothing. |
