Title: circle registrations are now open. can use debit cards to buy
Post by: coinmoneyfarm on September 30, 2014, 01:27:57 AM
there are two options on circle.com :
1. link bank account
2. link credit card
i registered and linked my icici bank visa debit card and just to test bought bitcoins worth 2 dollars. whole process took me less than 2 minutes (from registering to getting bitcoins in my circle account).
i believe this is revolutionary. buying bitcoins was to be frank was bit of pain as people on localbitcoins were selling it at higher price than market it it sometimes took me hours to purchase.
try this service and you will be blown away just like me.

Be careful. They are accepting Credit Card. This business model is going to be dead abused by charge back and stolen cards. I'm also interested to see how long they can keep selling at market rate.

Even if the price eventually settles at $10-15 above exchange prices, the instantaneousness will most probably still make them a sustainable service
Rooting for Circle to crack it

U.S.-based bank account or credit card required.

At this time, bank accounts and credit cards from your country cannot be linked to Circle. Our apologies for the inconvenience. We’re working on it and hope to be able to provide this functionality soon.

In the meantime, your account is ready to send, receive, and store bitcoin. Your Circle account is insured and protected by our rigorous security practices.

Did you say ICICI?

I had the same doubt. Is it just US based bank accounts or do Indian ones work as well?

Confirmations either way would be helpful for the community

Used my indian credit card to buy. hassle free. however, i was charged under cash advance and not credit. cash advance fees are quite high. not the best option.

It depends from credit card to credit card. it is best to check with your credit card company.

That is ridiculous!
Were you notified in advance that it would be charged as a cash withdrawal?

Cash advance is a feature you should never use on a credit card.
The fees can be ridiculously high. They usually levy a transaction charge of 2.5-3% and start levying interest charges (which can go up to 3.6% per month) immediately on the transaction. So if you make the purchase now and pay your credit card bill in a month's time, you can end up paying a 6% charge!

It would be good to understand if the cash advance was triggered by an Indian credit card being used or if there was some other reason

When you are about to purchase, there is a small lime below which says, your bank may charge you a cash advance feel

Simple... they are trying a protection against chargeback for countries outside US. Probably a few other European countries may enjoy not being charged under cash advance by Circle. As a result BitStamp & BTC-e will survive instead of Circle... only losing the US and a few European customer base. :)
