Title: 1 Satoshi Deposits with Label "Blockchain accounts hacked"
Post by: sgk on October 01, 2014, 12:14:26 PM
A few minutes ago my Bitcoin address received 2 small deposits (1 satoshi each).

I am aware of the 'satoshi spam' where many sites just spam random addresses with small deposits to advertise.
But this address was labeled "Blockchain accounts hacked"

https://blockchain.info/address/16JLbXYe5xmxGNX8hiqooyTUJnhitNNqTh

Is there any substance to this? Are any Blockchain accounts really hacked or it is just FUD?

I'm almost positive its just spam from a troll. A lot of people will crap themselves when they see this no doubt, so well done whoever it is.  ;D

Anyone can add a "tag" to an address on blockchain.info. Its just someone sending you spam.

My bet is on trollspam as well.

Good to know, so spam finally found its way to the blockchain, was about time.

Some people might believe it. They are giving it a try. If the person believed it, then they got a success. ::) I think they have nothing to loose except this satoshis which is toooo small.. ::)

I can understand if it is for advertising. But that message doesn't lead to anything. Probably something like ddos attack to cripple the network

Clearly just FUD, may also be someone trying to depress BTC prices.

During the fall a lot may have sold uncomfortably close to the current price hoping to buy back lower. The trend might be broken now so they are scared.

the 'spammer' got his funds from here
https://blockchain.info/tx/19c958e3c373fab3ddec491f59a1490f4ff791d9de48a7858d00770422ba9ee6

where0.15 went to 1NPfnbqZAMUnGuNuYwVZdCN4qVzUq4ejG4
and then jumped back and forth between 16JLb and 1NPfn

the spammer owns those 2 addresses, so i googled the addresses 1NPfn

yep spam advertising

I agree. If your blockchain.info wallet was really hacked, your would know it because all your bitcoin would be gone/missing.

As mentioned above, anyone can create any "label" to their bitcoin address on blockchain.info as long as they control the private key (and know how to sign a message). Any message that you "receive" via blockchain.info is more or less worthless
