Starting with BitCoin, virtual currencies or crypto-currencies have changed the face of economics as well as the purchasing ability of the ordinary citizen. Unlike normal currency, which is backed by perceived value of assets, crypto-currencies make themselves rare by requiring cryptographic computation to generate the currency.

Much as gold or a national economy is a limited amount held under control of a responsible party, virtual currencies constrain themselves by the difficulty in generating cryptographic keys, or “bit mining” the coins. This guarantees their value will not be obliterated by the equivalent of reckless printing of money, which spams the market and reduces their value. However, their value fluctuates with what people are willing to exchange for them.

Crypto-currencies have one sizable disadvantage: unlike conventional currencies which are backed by governments and (in theory) overseen through transparency and financial markets enforcing their value, virtual currencies are held in the hands of their creators and have no guarantee. If the source goes down or is confiscated, they can lose all value; further, as Bitcoin fans found out when the Mt. Gox exchange was compromised, there are no guarantees. Virtual currencies are entirely determined by demand for them in the market at the moment. However, this anonymity is also what makes them appealing; using darknet exchanges like Silk Road, patrons can use crypto-currencies to anonymously purchase objects and information that would otherwise be illegal with impunity.

Last year a shadowy figure known as Core Adrian launched a new virtual currency for heavy metal fans to use and possibly, to form the basis for a new metal market in anonymous trading that would rival what currently eBay, Amazon and Google control. He took the time to give us a few words on Metal Music Coin and its future.

What is virtual currency?

A virtual currency is “a type of unregulated, digital money, which is issued and usually controlled by its developers, and used and accepted among the members of a specific virtual community” (European Central Bank definition, 2012). This started with Bitcoin which remains the most widely used and well-known crypto-currency. Many of the current crypto-currencies are based on Bitcoin.

Like traditional money these virtual currencies may be used to buy physical goods and services.

This virtual currency are free to mine by using your computer’s video card and some other mining hardware that you can buy anywhere. and to mine it, it require basic software on each specific algorithim like bfgminer and guiminer to name the few.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, where you’re from and how you got started in the underground?

I’m a die hard metal fanatics, and working as a web and graphic designer in New Zealand. I started in the underground around 1997 during my college era, studying while doing underground-related stuff like going to gigs/concert buying their CDs and merchandise.

When did you start Metal Music Coin and why?

I started Metal Music Coin just recently last October 4th, 2014 and the main goal of this coin is to support underground metal scene by helping bands promote their album releases and other bands merchandise and this coin will be use as an alternative payment method for it or as a crypto currency only for metal.

What are the advantages, anonymity and otherwise, of cryptocurrencies?

Advantages of crypto currencies is that they are free to mine, and once you have those coin you are free to buy any stuff in any online shop that are supported by those crypto currencies. And this crypto currencies has their own value in exchange to fiat money.

What do you hope will happen with Metal Music Coin?

I’m hoping that soon Metal Music Coin will be recognized as a crypto-currency only for metal and supporting underground metal bands. So if you are into Underground Metal and know everything about crypto-currency, Please do support my project and mine Metal Music Coin, let’s not make this coin die, like metal music which never dies. Can you tell us a little about your zine, Cult Mongers Zine? How long has it been around, and what does it cover?

Cult Mongers Zine is an underground Publication a print and webzine which cover signed and unsigned bands from Black, death, to thrash metal bands, We started this fanzine maybe around 1999 and we are still continuing working on this publication and now this zine is supported by Metal Music Coin.

Thanks, but is does not work  ??? I guessed this setting: port=21451 but I am not sure what it does and if it's correct. I removed if from the .conf but still it does not find a block.

Weird thing is, I mined at iSpace pool , I had 90% of total hashing speed of the pool for MTLMC and found a block their within 5 minutes..

Are there more SOLO-miner out there? or a dev that can help me/us out? thanks

I will leave it mining this way for now, I am going to sleep (have to get up in about 3 hours again..ooops) I will see in the morning if it found a block (or some).

there might be someone is solomining as well. what about try to remove the gen=0

I will try that, thanks… but I am solo mining another scrypt coin and that works fine with the gen=0 in the .conf

or try without the addnodes

Hi M8,I ran some figures in a mining calculator program and it claims that solo mining at that speed,with the current difficulty of the coin,that it will take up to 12 hrs to find a block, and 7 minutes for you to finish it.
There is a 98% chance you will find a block within 6 hrs according to the calculator but it can be up to 12 hrs apart.
The reason you found one so much faster when you where at Ispace is because you where using there stratum connection.
Also,simplify you .conf file m8,here is a copy of mine without the addnodes and it works fine for solo mining this coin.

This is my launch setup,as you see I use a cudaminer but the connection settings will be the same:

cudaminer -H 1 -i 0 -C 2 -l auto -o localhost:21452 -u username -p password

One thing I noticed, I see a popup when miner finds a block but it doesn't always appear in the wallet.

At recent transactions you see 6 7 transactions. In the Wallet window you see: 8 9 transactions. -=[ while I am typing this I found another block ]=- Between 7:14h and 8:42h I miss two blocks/transactions. Are the 2 "missing" blocks in the transactionlist Orphans?

Did you delete the old. Metalmusiccoin folder in your appdata folder and installed the new one, try that it should stake now. Coz i tested it my wallet stake twice last night

  no, i didn't delete anything, proceeded in the usual way, backed-up the wallet, unzipped the bin and hit the .exe. i don't want to delete the blockchain now cuz i'm solo mining, and otherwise, the wallet is working fine

AND remember to backup your wallet.dat file before deleting the app data folder ;)

and here is my metalmusiccoin.conf file setting

Why should you delete that folder? Usually an updated wallet only re-indexes the old blockchain, if necessary ...?
Nevertheless, I'll try now, if deleting and re-downloading the chain helps.

EDIT:
Btw: other staking coin's wallets show an icon besides the connection-icon, to display when the staked coins are being added to the wallet. Why isn't it so with MTLMC?

But value conception this coin is very low. This is more reasons:

1. Algo scrypt. It's a ASICs algo. ASIC got very few people own, and not many people on the world can know from this coin.
Need other algo, obligatory ASIC resistant.

Better choose- it's multialgo. For example digibyte coin, used sha256+skein+groest+quark algo.
This coin needs similar algo that it could be mining any devices, CPU, GPU, Asic, POS-metod.

 Very large emission. Now network got 22 million coins- it's very much.
POW method:
 Need other method pays. For example- first X blocks- payed per 100 coins at block. After 2 month payed fall at 7% eash month.
Pos method: first 2 month- unworking.
After 2 month- payed per 5% at the year, after first year payed at 8%.

pretty much the same as any other cryptocoin.
depends on what operating system you are using (linux? mac? windows?)
but there are many guides found via google for many coins.

basically you run the daemon <coin>d binary continuously. i believe the QT wallet may work as well
if you put daemon=1 (?) in the config file.

you must also make sure any firewall you have opens up that coin's default PORT to incoming external
connections.

you may also have to configure your internet provider's router/wifi box to "port forward" the coin's default PORT to your
machine within your home network.

Im trying My wallet is basically dead with 1.2 million coins stuck in it. Tt has taken me 2 weeks to transfer 600000 coins but now it won't work at all.I'm going to have to create a new wallet because the current one will become unusable if it has a bunch of small inputs like mine.There are over 100000 transactions and the wallet file size is over 64mb.It is going to cost me from .15 to .2 bitcoin to fix it and I just don't have the bitcoin right now.
