Title: [SWEET] NectarCoin | Crypto's Answer to Skype, Slack & more | Crowdsale Jan 12
Post by: nectarcoin on October 05, 2014, 02:26:23 PM

"Bitcoin (has 20 million users, at best). PayPal has 150+ million users. Whatsapp 500+ million users.
Facebook 1.2+ billion users...some alternate (coin network), better at promotion and user base expansion,
could go viral and surpass Bitcoin...within months...and people...will be asking themselves what just happened."

===

This is a Crowdfunding Campaign to support anticipated
research, development, marketing, legal and community
support needs over an 18+ month time frame.

This project is presented to the community as a proposal
to be escrow funded. If it's escrow funded, we build it.
We do not get a dime until we hit each of the milestones.

The campaign, detailed below, is carefully structured to give
everyone more peace of mind by providing protection from
non-delivery risk and altcoin-exchange risk:

* Payments from the escrow will not be released as a lump sum.
They will be broken up according to a milestone/"pay for results"-based schedule,
where escrow payments are released only upon our completion of each key milestone.
The relationship between us and coin buyers is one of developers working
for their employers, at their pleasure, and paid only upon deliveries.

* The escrow payments will be made from a (likely 3-of-4) multisig wallet,
so payments can only be released with the permission of representatives of both
the hosting exchange and Team NectarCoin.

For decades, computers were hard for the masses to use.
Now many people can't live without them.
That's because developers made them easy, interesting and even fun for the average Joe to use.

Many cryptocoins today are like the clunky IBM/Intel/DOS model.
We need the equivalent of an iPhone/Galaxy to break the adoption barrier:
a nice, easy, intuitive, familiar, pleasant user experience that grandma would love to use.

We want to be the Apple/Samsung of Crypto.

Because crypto should be (and can be) sweet.
(not bitter)

approach (#post_approach)

1. Crypto should be sweet, not bitter.
There's an awful lot of acrimony and distrust here lately. We need to get back to the fun, confident, pioneering spirit of crypto.

2. The focus should be on providing a complete, elegant solution, where crypto-tech isn't an end in itself, but a means to an end. Make it part of a useful, compelling user-friendly solution. Make it as simple and as much of an afterthought as using a Visa card.

3. Crypto can change the world but first,
we must change the world of cryptocurrencies and ourselves

4. Crypto needs more women - a lot more. Developers and users.

5. Privacy and ready access to market information should be the right of all human beings,
and not just the exclusive privilege of big-money types, VIPs, tech geeks, politicians, dictators and gated-community elites

6. We need a more private, decentralised (p2p), user-friendly alternative to Skype and other messengers that is
peer-to-peer, private and not easily monitored by "Big Brother"

7. Too many here miss the forest for the trees.
We want to refocus on the big picture

8. The burden should not be on non-geeks to understand crypto
but on geeks to make crypto understandable, accessible and usable for everyone

Nectarcoin is part of a multi-stage plan to become the preferred alternative to Skype and other messengers.
It will be more than a wallet. It will be a robust communication, file, banking and data dashboard platform - and something bigger:
a new kind of cryptocoin with a new, in-demand, user-friendly features that encourage usage.
A one-stop web wallet and portal to ease your interaction with cryptoworld and beyond.

We want this to give a big boost to the ecosystem
by making communication and information more immediately available,
accessible and understandable to all participants.

The project is currently wrapping up the mockup stage and from there
we'll proceed to the development stage and later the marketing/promotion stage

We need only the time, resources and support provided by the Crowdfunding Campaign
to formalise a blueprint and build the darn thing.

Let us be clear about the Crowdfunding Campaign. It will be a staggered, milestone-based, results-based escrow release plan
in which payment is only released for each stage of delivered, verified results.
Not one satoshi would be released until a milestone is complete.

We're committed and are hopeful that funds raised by the Crowdfunding Campaign will provide
sufficient support for us to devote ourselves full time to the development of this exciting new platform.

We don't want to reveal everything before the launch publicly,
though we are open to disclosing key details to trusted members who
sign an NDA and who make a significant investment of at least 10BTC in the Crowdfunding Campaign
so we can be sure your interests are aligned with this project's before we share
project information with you. Full details would be disclosed to everyone after the Crowdfunding Campaign.

We're an IT team ranked among the top 5% among more than 40,000 IT service providers worldwide on a top freelancing platform.
We're received perfect scores on more than 50 IT and design projects over the past 5 years.

Our focus is programming (PHP, .NET, C++/Qt, AJAX and Js frameworks such as Node and Angular)
and design (Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, Js, CSS).

We've worked for a wide variety of corporations, mid-sized companies and startups
across a wide variety of fields, including financial software, publishing, consulting,
legal services and food-related. Our team is multilingual, and we're all English-fluent.

We've initiated contact with all 3 of the following POD rating groups:
Cryptoasian
http://cryptoasian.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/ratingSWEET.jpg
Coinsource
Cryptocertify

One idea we are open to is giving permission to POD rating groups and the CFC-hosting exchange providers to fully disclose our identity if we do not deliver. That's how seriously we appreciate the trust of those who consider our project and how serious we are about delivering and establishing a strong, long-term reputation in crypto.

Our approach to how we interact with the community is as follows.
We want to make a meaningful contribution
to the still-virgin, still-fertile ecosystem for cryptocurrencies
and bring more life, dynamism and security to this space by distinguishing ourselves in the following:

humility
clarity
credibility
strategy
innovation
adaptability
sustainability
responsiveness
professionalism
transparency
plain english (less technobabble)
usefulness
user-friendliness
vision

in other words:
sweetness
(with lots of pollination)

Our approach to adoption is generally as follows. We want to build a "Sweet Suite" of useful features that are
well integrated and compliment each other in encouraging adoption of the platform

http://nectarcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/newsletter/images/adoption.png

nectar is a metaphor for what we believe crypto should be:
golden, sweet, nourishing, fertile, self-perpetuating

nectar is the sugar-rich source for honey produced by plants in glands called nectaries (nodes)
...which provide a nutrient source to animals such as bees,
which as part of a mutually beneficial relationship, in turn provide protection against pests and pollination,
encouraging growth and spread of plants, and therefore all life.

What does this all mean in English?

The crowd-funding campaign is to help fund development of the coin, the system in general and its successful adoption.

We would not receive any of the CFC until we deliver on the key milestones.
Investors are completely protected against any risk of non-delivery.

That's how we roll in our freelance work - we never request payment until we've delivered on a milestone.
That gives clients complete peace of mind, and that's been a key factor behind our strong feedback ratings.

milestone 1 - 5% of CFC escrow funds released - NXT asset token issuance
Distribution of NXT Asset Exchange tokens to all participating exchanges, which will be redeemable 1-for-1 for Nectarcoins to be distributed during the third milestone.

milestone 2 - 5% of CFC escrow funds released - whitepaper/roadmap released
Disclosure of all future plans, including project scope not yet announced, with a heavy emphasis on NectarCoin's unique plans for encouraging mass adoption.

milestone 3 - 15% of CFC escrow funds released - version 1.0 of wallet:
stable network, smooth fair launch with block explorer, website integration, working wallet and high POD score (at least a 5 from Cryptoasian, 5/7 for coinsource or 3 stars from CryptoCertify)

milestone 4 - 20% of CFC escrow released - version 2.0 of wallet:
version 2.0 wallet design mockup finalised and approved by community, p2p text chat, p2p voice chat, p2p video enabled, file-transfer enabled (codename: "sweetsuite1")

milestone 5 - 20% of CFC escrow released - version 3.0:
group chat, group videoconferencing (codename: "sweetsuite2") enabled

milestone 6 - 15% of CFC escrow released -version 4.0:
one-stop crypto market portal market notification system
High scores from all three POD rating groups
(codename: "cryptoberg")

milestone 7 - 10% of CFC escrow released - verison 5.0:
independent security audit by a respected authority recommended (codename: "ironclad"). Recommendations implemented

milestone 8 - 10% of CFC escrow released:
at least 10 community bitcointalk full members have publicly reacted in the forum thread
to our work with the word "wow" (Codename: Sweetness)

open ended:
R&D involving undisclosed features, relentless expansion of user-friendly features (Codename "Weareborg") and marketing campaign (Codename: Viral101) strategy to be fully disclosed and implemented

The CFC would occur in five order book tranches that reward the earliest investors:

2.5 million coins for 0.000150 per sweet
2.5 million coins for 0.000162 per sweet
2.5 million coins for 0.000175 per sweet
2.5 million coins for 0.000189 per sweet
2.5 million coins for 0.000204 per sweet

Any remaining unsold portion will be destroyed in a verifiable, video-verified manner by the CFC-hosting exchange.
Proceeds would be held in secure escrow and released in portions by the CFC-hosting exchange based strictly upon our completion of each milestone.

If targets are met, the budget would be dedicated toward the following:
Project Management
Design
Development
Promotion/Marketing, including Market Research
Community Management/Tech Support
Future Maintenance
Coin Buybacks
Legal Services

This would be up to the community to decide - we've proposed, starting two years after the launch, each year,
that the community - through its Nectarcoin wallets - vote on whether to award the development team
a small percentage (less than 0.005%) of coin balances, to cover ongoing expenses beyond the
completion of development, delivered only in 3-month installments
as a kind of "stock option" that financially sustains commitment to increasing
the long-term value of the platform.

We plan to run rigorous testnet simulations under high-traffic conditions to ensure a smooth and fair launch. If unforeseen circumstances result in a launch widely perceived as not smooth and fair, we'll push for an immediate re-launch.

We will not allow this coin's history to be tainted and FUD posses emboldened by a bad, botched launch.

Our CFC is a crowdfunding campaign to support design and development of the coin and its adoption. Any sales of coins are sales for crowd-funding purposes (think Kickstarter) and do not guarantee profits or ownership of a company.

All specifications and terms outlined above are subject to change based on community input and the amount raised by the escrow.

This is a major imperative for us. One of our main goals is to build a great reputation in crypto for delivering excellent, innovative work.

So we aim to underpromise and overdeliver and try our best to prepare for all foreseeable scenarios,
but markets, community and network dynamics can be, by their very nature, unpredictable. Please plan and invest accordingly.

Please do not risk any BTC you can't afford to put at risk.

Who are you?

We're a team of developers, designers and project managers specialising in both functionality (C++/Qt/Python/PHP/JS) frameworks) and design (Adobe Suite, UI/UX, /HTLM/CSS/Js). We're based in Europe (many of us Eastern European) and are among the top 5% of more than 40,000 IT freelancers on one of the biggest freelancing platforms on the web. We've earned perfect performance scores on more than 50 projects spanning over more than five years.

Translation: We know what we're doing, we can handle demanding clients, we have a deep bench, we jealously protect our reputation and track record and are not hobbyists or middlemen reliant on a single part-time developer. We aim for perfect scores with an eye on our brand and reputation when it comes to everything we do. This is a long-term engagement for us - we see crypto as the future emerging market and want to build the future of our business on it. We want to build a reputation in crypto as a core focus for years to come.

Will you submit to a POD?

We'd like to submit to at least three PODs. We've already earned a 5+ from CryptoAsian and plan to get ratings from CoinSource and CryptoCertify when we're further along. We can't think of anything that would help bring greater attention to our coin and demonstrate the seriousness of this project.

In our humble opinion, you have every right to be skeptical and downright cynical after some of the nonsense we've seen here. And we have a very long experience dealing with demanding clients who've been burned, and proving ourselves through our work. We hope to earn your trust by our work, our professional conduct and delivery of results.

Ultimately, it's the people outside crypto that concern us. The people who want to kill crypto or will once they perceive it as a threat to their power (or rather abuse of power). With things like this happening in parts of the world http://www.coindesk.com/bangladesh-outlaw-bitcoin-jail/ - privacy is a legitimate concern for everyone.

What is your FUD policy?

We welcome - in fact, we cherish - vigorous, constructive criticism and feedback. Developing design and programming solutions, especially in the cryptospace, involves (sometimes unavoidable) tensions between conflicting tradeoffs and finding the right balance. It also involves many unknowns and unpredictables. No one has a monopoloy on the truth. We all have much to learn from each other, which is the fundamental point of a forum.

But every investor who buys Nectarcoin will be treated as our client. And we will work to protect our clients. Comments will be moderated for vulgarity, irrelevance, spam, references to other coins and apparent campaigns by other coin communities, etc. We'll consider keeping a full log of all deleted posts for full transparency, time permitting.

Basically, we want the main forum to be a place for people to easily find important information about a coin
ask questions and provide constructive feedback - the very point of a forum -
without having to spend their precious time wading through sludge and spam.
We will consider redirecting all forum discussion off of bitcointalk to our own website forum if we feel it's necessary.

Why the newbie account?

Because we just created it, but we've been lurking on bitcointalk - particularly its Announcements section - for months, off an on, since late 2013. Our approach as a company is often to study things very carefully and become as fully informed as possible before we engage. So yes, while our account is new, our presence in and exposure to bitcointalk, and certainly crypto, is not. We know very well what's gone on here and what continues to go on here. That's one of the main reasons we decided to offer something we feel will be useful and positive for the ecosystem, and in a way that is more open and warm and less techy and abrasive than much of what we've seen here.

Still, we know enough to know some of what we don't know, which is why we've reached out to potential advisers whose contribution to bitcointalk and the wider crypto ecosystem we've come to respect and admire. We want to do this right. We want to make a good first impression.
We want to build a positive reputation here.

Your technology mindset and vision

We intend to build on a framework that will be modular to support third-party applications (plugins/add-ons),
secure, flexible and future proofed for additional functionality,
made scalable and built to eventually adapt to all platforms -- desktop and mobile.
We don't envision this endeavor as a fixed object with a fixed goal but as a journey that evolves and adapts to conditions over time.

Why are you doing this?

We are tired of seeing the same-looking Qt-style wallets. We think, in order to encourage mass market adoption, that crypto badly needs user-friendly applications and interfaces that the average consumer will want to use because they're useful, fun and easy to understand.

We also want to cement a bankable reputation in crypto and blockchain tech, because we've seen the future of our business and believe that - despite the present chaos -
blockchain technology will emerge as one of the standout, enduring, thriving markets of the 21st century.

We also think crypto needs to get back to basics. People need to wake up and realise what's going on outside the altcoin world. Things like this:
http://eletter.offshorelivingletter.com/read/archive?id=71249&mid=2180910
http://www.offshorelivingletter.com/operation-choke-point-closing-u-s-bank-accounts/#more-1624
We all need to clean up our acts and get the bitcoin/altcoin world developed, professionalised, serious and strong as a real force for good and for freedom - and as soon as possible because threats to it are gathering. There too much at stake for short-sightedness, pettiness and back-biting.

A 2800 BTC CFC?!

Yes. We're going beyond what any coin has done before in terms of design, functionality and user-friendliness.
We're aiming for widespread adoption. The project involves some significant labor-intensive research and technical challenges (*).
And we have to hedge for continued bitcoin weakness.

Our vision is, if you're going to do it, try to do it right. Go big, or go home.
Crypto investors are tired of scams and mediocre coins that fail the test of mainstream adoption. Or coins where devs disappear. Or coins that fall short of their plans.

Many coins fail not because they're scams, but because the devs lack the resources and built-in
redundancy it takes to launch and sustain a coin, its community and ecosystem over the long-run.
It is a full-time job and requires a team. A good one. Including backup.

You want a quality coin, a quality ecosystem and quality support along with an aggressive long-term marketing initiative and a sustainable, full-time commitment by a professional team with a solid track record. You want expansion to future platforms, including mobile (iOS, Android) and possibly alternative platforms. You want a team with the resources to help protect investors (we'll just leave it at that).
We want to deliver that to you... and more. We want to be one of the top altcoins out there. 2900 BTC will help us to make all of this happen. Note that this figure was adjusted from the previous 2200 to further hedge against possible additional weakness in bitcoin.

And for those who make comparisons to other new coins, we don't see those as our ultimate competition.
We are setting our sights much higher and... well, we'll just keep it at that for now....

The details are up above - we're thinking big. The most important aspect of this is that we want a staggered, milestone-based, results-based crowdfunding campaign. In other words, we don't get a dime - not one satoshi - until we deliver on each milestone. That's the way we roll in all of our client work. Clients get complete peace of mind.

And we're treating everyone who invests in this coin and uses the forthcoming desktop app (it will be more than a wallet) as an appreciated client who deserves peace of mind. We can not emphasise that strongly enough.

Awesome, waiting for the ICO  :)

Thank you so much for the interest - and we welcome constructive feedback. The specifics are subject to change based on valued community input. As for the ICO, we're awaiting a response from key exchanges. Ahead of that, we're working on getting all three PODs - and we'll be aiming for the highest ratings for all of them.

We've been getting questions about bounties for promotion, etc. and will be adding a finalised response to the FAQ of the ANN on this topic.

Our thinking at this point - most likely we will be offering bounties after we've completed a full needs assessment (most likely this week) after gauging the community response. What we have in mind at this point is tying bounties to the crowdfunding campaign - a portion of the CFC to cover bounties could be committed by the exchange at our request to a trusted bitcointalk agent such as "devthedev" to distribute the bounties when the work is verified by us and the community and the CFC escrow is released. Just a thought - we haven't decided the details of that yet. We will also be needing ANN translations in some languages and welcome any other bounty offers to cover needs we might not have anticipated yet.

Needless to say, we're seeking broad community involvement in this project.

Hello again - we were aware of that concern going in. Three points:
1) it's a target. We reach it or we don't. We don't, and the balance of coins gets destroyed and we adjust the goals accordingly.
2) Yes, we are aiming high. When you say you can't see it giving a return, that might be because you're not fully aware of how high we're aiming. We are not going to be just another middling altcoin, which we hope we've made clear from the ANN (for one thing, bitcoin and litecoin are clearly vulnerable, and...well, we'll leave it at that for now). We think the mistake that many other coins have made is striking out with ambitions they did not have the resources to support. That's why so many devs seem to quit before the job is done. Quality dev work and community management is a full time job you want done by professionals and done right.
3) We're going beyond what any coin has done before in terms of design, functionality and user-friendliness. We're aiming for widespread adoption.

It should be pretty clear how far beyond bitmessage this will go. It'll have more in common with Skype than bitmessage.

And this would be the start of functionality, not the end. This would be designed for popular use - we're aiming for a market and demographic much wider than crypto enthusiasts, including people who've never heard of crypto, or bitcoin for that matter. People who will respond to a much more user-friendly interface than most Qt coin wallets currently out there.

The crowdfunding campaign price is a target, not a minimum. We are indeed aiming high and requesting the resources that will allow us to aim as high as possible for as long as possible. We think again, as we said in the OP, that the mistake too many devs have made is cutting corners and biting off more than they can chew -- not having the resources to sustain the time and effort it requires to build a high-quality killer app.

But again, the CFC is a target. If we don't reach it, we adjust the goals accordingly, and the balance of coins gets destroyed. And, again, not a dime of the CFC is released until we hit the milestones.

Tomorrow, we'll be demonstrating the exchange alert/notifications feed capability - we'll be posting video shortly.

http://nectarcoin.com/video-demo-altcoin-market-alert-system/

The alert system, which draws on data feeds from the 4 major altcoin exchanges (Mintpal, Poloniex, Cryptsy and Bittrex), will make it easier for crypto market watchers to track significant developments in altcoin markets -  prices, volume, buy and sell orders, as well as dev updates - from one place. While you chat or conference.

Note that this is a partial, off-wallet demo built on our demo server. This would be only one of several features fully integrated into our sleek (sweet!) "WHAMM" desktop app (Wallet Hub with Market Monitor and Messenger) as part of the NectarCoin project.

We welcome any questions, we thank those as excited as we are about this project and we welcome the growing number of twitter followers for their questions, interest and support.

There's a reason we aimed for the [SWEET] ticker symbol.

It will be sweet  ;)
Too much sugar is not good for health  :P

But it's good for crypto - and these days, crypto can certainly use more sweetness.

...which will be one of several components intergrated into our WHAMM*** desktop app (Wallet Hub with Alert System, Market Monitor and Messenger) system when completed.

Again, the alert system draws on data feeds from the 4 major altcoin exchanges (Poloniex, Cryptsy, Bittrex and Mintpal when V2 is settled there). It will make it easier for crypto market watchers to track significant developments in the altcoinmarkets - prices, volume, buy and sell orders, as well as dev updates - from one place while you chat or conference.

I hope this project is more than just graphics.

It is - we provided, just above your message, a link to preliminary work we've done on the alert system:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=812124.msg9143015#msg9143015

And additional work will be posted in the days to come. However, the very reason we are seeking funding -- a staggered, results-based release of funding in stages, based on completion of milestones -- is so we can devote ourselves to this full time and complete our plans. We want to build a quality, commercial-grade product and would really like to develop this entirely as a full-time, professional project -- not as a part-time "hobby" project.

Idea sounds great ...Lets see how soon it can be implemented...

The closer we get to the funding target for the crowdfunding campaign, the more resources we'll be able to commit full time to getting it all done, and the more quickly. When the CFC is completed we'll be able to provide approximate time estimates on when we're likely to complete and integrate all components of the system.

Oh yeah, Sweet Sweet..... Nectar.... ???

There's a reason we choose the word "sweet".

sorry if i missed this but when does the ico start ?

Not long after we get the POD ratings. Once we're done with that process - which will confirm our credentials and our initial work on this -- we'll pursue the CFCs. We want people to have complete peace of mind about who we are and the fact that this is a serious project for us. To us, it's not just about getting the neeeded resources and fully building out the system, but treating everyone who chooses to get involved in this as clients that we want to have complete peace of mind on this. We want to make sure this is done right, and that it's a good experience for everyone, from beginning to end.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.

No, not another. Please don't lump us with the rest. Please read the OP carefully - we're not requesting payment for anything we don't deliver - and look for future updates on the POD, which should make clear that we're not another part-time "dev" or hobbyist. We're a professional team that is respectful and responsive to our clients, and it would be a full-time commitment for us.

We're delighted to have earned a 5+ Proof of Developer rating from CryptoAsian:

We intend to pursue the highest ratings from CoinSource and CryptoCertify as well, after our coding is farther along.

POD 5+ , Serious WOW

We're just getting started. For us, this project is not just about delivering results but treating anyone who chooses to get involved with Nectar peace of mind. We don't want this to be seen as just another coin -- we are treating all of you as valued clients deserving of respect and a pleasant project experience. The 5+ from Cryptoasian is just the start of a process that we aim to make much different, more pleasant and more respectful than what you might have experienced elsewhere. We want to earn your trust and a great long-term reputation here.

Project cycle is too long, I can not wait  :'(

The more successful the crowdfunding campaign is, the more time and manpower we'll be able to dedicate full-time and the faster we'd complete. But speed is our second priority. Our first priority is to do this right/

Soon, we're in this for the long haul and just want to make sure it's done right. We're committed to doing everything we can to look out for anyone who becomes part of this community and ensure this does not become another "pump and dump" altcoin. We want to make sure the crowdfunding campaign is structured in a way that makes it much more likely to be a good experience for everyone involved.

tdlr - soon. Stay tuned!

5+ POD rating is nice but in the reality of crypto-land it really means nothing. This coin has an interesting concept but IMHO the ICO is WAY WAY overpriced and will be depremental in the long run. Good luck but I will be passing on this one.

Building a serious software product like this one with professional staff and providing the kind of support and marketing needed to meet demands here on bitcointalk and grow a serious client base of mainstream users is not something that's done well "on the cheap". We're acting on the presumption that people here are tired of the scams, tired of the non-technical/non-professional middlemen, tired of mediocre/amateur devs, tired of otherwise good devs who treat their projects as part-time afterthoughts and hobbies (because they're not paid commensurately).

Generally, you get what you pay for - we're offering development of quality software, a full time commitment, a serious marketing effort and a good, low-risk, peace-of-mind project development experience to those discriminating crypto enthusiasts who seek something better out of a cryptocoin development experience than what they've seen across this forum over the past year.

We're open to any and all suggestions, but we'd really like to avoid cutting corners. We want to do this right and at least test the theory that crypto enthusiasts here want quality, want a serious effort at encouraging adoption, want a serious IT group to make a serious push to challenge the top cryptocoins (and Skype) and are willing to pay what's needed to support all of that. And remember, we propose a strictly results-based/milestone-based escrow release schedule - we don't get a dime until we deliver on each of the main components.

We welcome any other comments, suggestions and questions and thank you for your interest.

By all means, poop. :) Several days ago we posted a youtube demo video of our altmarket alert system prototype in action (it's in the [ANN] post #1). CryptoAsian was provided our bitbucket code repository. We're one of the top IT freelance groups in Europe (http://cryptoasian.com/sweet-nectarcoin/   http://proofofdev.com/sweet-nectarcoin/) - in the top 5% on a major online freelance platform as CryptoAsian has verified. It's all in our [ANN] #1 post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=812124.msg9090897#msg9090897

And, yes, this is a work in progress. The very point of this Crowdfunding Campaign is to get the financial support we need to fully realise our vision to develop a Wallet App that ordinary people will actually want and know how to use intuitively, without having to be crypto geeks.

We'll be providing a roadmap once we're clear what the funding support looks like and schedule a full-time commitment on that basis. We are not going to make the mistake others have of providing hard dates in our roadmap, but we'll definitely be providing progress reports (% complete) as part of the project. We are not going to make the mistake others have of not hedging for uncertainty and the unexpected and overpromising and underdelivering.

We make very clear in our ANN that we're seeking CFC funding to fully realise our vision and devote ourselves to development of this full-time. What we want to build is not the sort of thing that can be slapped together part-time as an unfunded hobby project. We're proposing a commercial-grade product here and the financing for our professional team to commit the necessary time to build it all out.

Please also note from the ANN that we propose a results/milestone-based CFC escrow release schedule: we don't get a dime until we deliver on each major component.

We thank you for your questions and interest.

too cute to be true ...

Good - we aim to shock a lot of people... in a good way. Crypto needs a positive jolt. Badly.

good luck ! Hopes this coin will be a good coin

We appreciate your support and the well wishes. Crypto is tough these days and we will need all the support, luck and constructive criticism we can get.

This is the best wallet I have ever seen. I'm and waiting for more :D
Good luck

Our goal #1 is to build something that actually encourages adoption - we are tired of seeing the same old Qt wallets and think this ecosystem is overdue for a massive UI upgrade, like what iOS and Android have done for mobile phones. And that's just the start of what we have planned. Thank you for the well wishes. Stay tuned.

Clearly, we agree and we are hopeful that Nectar along with a coming wave of blockchain 2.0 coins (such as Ethereum, NEM and others) led by professional teams with a strong long-term vision will put crypto back on a solid path that leads to significant human progress.

One of our favorite twitter cryptocelebs/commentators is @manelecrypto, who often posts some of the funniest, frequent, timely, on-target crypto commentary on the web - it's quite witty. We address some recent comments directed to us:

http://i.imgur.com/qYlJspn.jpg

In the days to come, we plan to publicise Nectar wherever crypto is widely followed, including CoinBlab (I think we've already started posting our profile there). But we have our small suspicions that Coinblab is run by whale-manipulators/pump-and-dump groups. And we really want to keep Nectar as clean as possible - one of our biggest selling points is that we're new to the system (Mr Smith Goes to Washington) and are not tangled up in all that baggage. We do plan to post more on Coinblab, but we'd like to know more about who's behind it and what their intentions are.

As for FUD, we consider it the "cost of doing business." Any time you do business, especially if you're successful, you have to put up with some noise/criticism. As an IT services group (in the "real world"), we have to put up with our fair share of difficult clients. Our perspective is that, as long as there's mutual respect, clients who entrust us their hard-earned money, have every right to have their concerns expressed and addressed. We don't always have all the answers - all the right answers. Constructive criticism and input makes us question our wrong assumptions and do a better job of serving our clients going forward.

As long as that criticism is constructive and not vulgar, we welcome it. If it's vulgar and clearly motivated by deliberate plans to undermine the coin and hurt this community, we'll respond. You can see our FUD policy in the [ANN] #1 post.

We're reluctant to censor - one option we've considered is opening two threads, one moderated and one unmoderated, so that if FUD becomes a problem (doesnt seem to be so far), people will be free to pick whether they want to read the clean, filtered thread to get to informative content/updates faster and more easily or go through the unfiltered messy message thread.

As always, we're open to suggestions that address the tradeoff between freedom and order and, more specifically, what we can do to ensure valid criticism gets through and deliberate attempts to hurt the coin/community do not.

http://i.imgur.com/ZuzWwBi.jpg

We plan to be very responsive to community input about all aspects (including marketing and wallet/messenger design and functionality) and will consider lowering the coin price (since several people have commented on this) as well as the number of coins, but keep in mind that we've priced the coin to be able to provide a budget that covers a full-time commitment over an 18-month+ period from a professional staff of serious designers, programmers and marketers. The kind of quality dev team and the kind of 24/7 commitment that people clearly want. We have to make sure the budget supports that.

Regarding the quamtity of coins (putting aside the price), we thought it might actually be too low. Our goal is to make Nectar widely used, especially across college campuses, media institutions and other groups who value secure chat communications. We want a widely circulated coin to be widely available without a lot of people having to make decimal .000000x calculations or conversions to Nectar-satoshi ("nectarines"/"natoshis"?) in their heads. We think this is one thing Dogecoin got right and one of the reasons it's been effecting as a tipping/social coin. Again, we want everything about Nectar to be user friendly.

One possibility we're considering is to increase the coin supply and proportionately reduce the price per coin to keep everything even.

http://i.imgur.com/arYOcV6.jpg

We keen on p2p chat anon but are ambivalent about currency anon-transactions tech. We think there are a lot of big technical questions that haven't been fully addressed (though Shadowcoin and the Cryptonote coins seem promising and seem to be making progress). We dont want to give false promises. What we've promised so far is only what we're certain we can deliver. That said, we are building Nectar to be a very flexible, modular system (including a plugin platform) that will be future-proofed for upgrades.

We just think there are more immediate issues about usability and adoption that really need to be addressed fast, first, and we want to focus on those - things we're sure we can deliver - before we address bigger, more exotic things.

If Cryptonote, Shadowcoin and Darkcoin fail to achieve solid, verified anon-transaction tech and we decide to make a big push on this front, we likely wont say anything about it or announce anything until we achieve it 100% in a way that is 100% verified by well-respected third party experts (on the level of Andreas Antonopoulos). In other words, we'd Ninja announce it. We will not run the risk of dragging people through weeks and months of anticipation for nothing, as so many "anon" coins have.

We love nature pics too! Bees are adorable... from a distance.

http://i.imgur.com/PnPANoq.jpg

Wow, we thought we might be a bit picture-heavy. Glad you appreciate nature photography like we do. Regarding roadmap ETAs, please see our previous comments. We will be providing a roadmap and %-completed updates on a regular basis, but we want to avoid overpromising and underdelivering, so we will avoid giving hard dates. As requested, here am sent my manelecrypto herself ...

If you stick with Bitcointalk, your coin will die.  I'm a paid FUDer and make nice money; I've killed coins.  There are about 20 ways I could kill your coin with one or two posts.  If I bring in some sock puppets or some friends game over.  Once a believable rumor is planted it doesn't go away.  Other people pass it along, it grows and becomes the "truth". Bitcointalk is completely corrupt and follows the interests of Bitcoin itself, big coiners and whoever has paid off the mods.  I KNOW this.  Coinblab is controlled by manipulators but on there you control the information flow and manage the message.  IconicExpert's latest coin is a total bug fuck but still alive because he stays off bitcointalk completelty and sticks to Twitter and Coinblab.   The trolls don't have a way in ...

http://i.imgur.com/ZuzWwBi.jpg

We plan to be very responsive to community input about all aspects (including marketing and wallet/messenger design and functionality) and will consider lowering the coin price (since several people have commented on this) as well as the number of coins, but keep in mind that we've priced the coin to be able to provide a budget that covers a full-time commitment over an 18-month period from a professional staff of serious designers, programmers and marketers.

That's a wrong move; people want a few things that are worth a lot rather than many things at worth a lot.  It is human psychology and makes no sense but it is true.

http://i.imgur.com/arYOcV6.jpg

ANON is bullshit, it doesn't work but the geek market likes it and wants it.  Believe me, there's nothing an altcoin can do that the NSA can't see through like glass.  You can cut/paste the anon code from lots of coins.  Put in, update the ANN and your value will double.

We love nature pics too! Bees are adorable... from a distance.

The bees are good, the birds are good.  Get rid of the damned infographics.  When people see an ICO with infographics they think scam because infographics usually mean scam.  Also put all of your features in big bold letters at the top of your ANN.

Do these things and we'll back you with good posts, good Twitter and other good stuff.  You guys have a winner if you fix some things.  More later.

Here you go, they're beginning to creep around.  This one is a Syscoin bag holder. If your coin manages to grow Syscoin is more in the dirt. They need Bitcointalk to spread FUD.  Coinblab is one choice. There are others. Bitcointalk is a cesspool that will suck you in.

We don't consider anything we've seen posted so far in this message thread to be FUD - so far, we're seeing a healthy and constructive exchange of suggestions, comments and opinions and we're happy to respond to all of them. We're going to be responding to the last round of comments in one big swoop in a post that's on its way. Thanks so much to everyone for your time and interest in our project.

We hear you - it is ugly out there, and we're well aware of alternatives to BCT. We are planning on a broader marketing campaign and that includes posting on Coinblab and other emerging forums, as well as creating a forum on our own website. It would be very interesting for us to know what special anti-FUD/spam tools/ressurces Coinblab has that bitcointalk currently doesn't.

But BCT appears to remain the leader for now. According to the view ticker up top, this message thread has been read more than 16000 times. By our count, there are at least 2000 users (many of them unregistered guests) online at any given time: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=who. Even if we account for repeat views and even if we account for some simultaneous log-ins of puppet accounts, that's a lot of eyeballs and probably far exceeds the best alternatives out there. NEOS, which had been hot up to that point, abandoned BCT and its price went into a coma soon after (at least, it looks comatose). IE decided to focus only on Coinblab and raised less than 6% of his ICO target. And his absence (at least the absence of a recognisable username) hasn't kept people from panning his coin's launch on multiple threads here.

That doesn't mean BCT is the end-all, be-all of forums now and always (and that there weren't other factors behind the examples mentioned above including general altcoin market weakness), only that we don't think it's wise to ignore it. We feel the best approach is to broadcast widely and to invoke anti-FUD moderation only very selectively but very thoroughly if it gets out of hand.

We are well aware that several coins - notably NXT and Ethereum - that have had great success hosting their own forums and going off to other places such as Reddit (I think Ethereum devs hardly comment on BCT). We are also preparing for that contigency and will be setting up a forum on our own website. A big selling point for a forum outside bitcointalk beyond the FUD is that their forum tech is archaic. Even under the best conditions without any FUD, it's too time consuming to drill down and find the updates and other information you're looking for here. Forum tech has evolved a lot from what's currently being used here, and we think Shadowcash's forum is a great example of that - things like seeing posts being posted in real time.

Our general opinion on FUD - we're aware of the campaigns (paid and otherwise from people propping up other coins in what many perceive as a shrinking pie), but we also think FUD can be a symptom of fundamental weaknesses in the coin (either in the coin itself, the way the devs treat the community, the quality of their work, etc). FUD is everywhere, but it tends to be more limited and have much less weight when it comes to coins that are clearly legitimate enterprises, have integrity, a solid track record of dynamic innovation and delivering on promises - arguably coins like Ethereum, Counterparty, etc.

Maybe we're romantics/naive - and we stand ready to adapt to ANY clearly deliberate campaigns to undermine confidence in the coin and hurt those who choose to join us - but we tend to believe that the cream rises to the top and that criticism makes you more humble and better. Call us optimistic, but we think even some FUDers are starting to realise how badly they've hurt the golden goose and that we all need more big success stories in this ecosystem (like DRK's massive success earlier this year) to bring greater positive attention and more money into this ecosystem for everyone. We see things turning around.

We don't want this thread to become an echo chamber. We don't want to just talk to people who agree with us. A forum is supposed to be a place for give-and-take/back-and-forth discussion. Better judgement, greater wisdom and better decisions can emerge from that.

http://i.imgur.com/ZuzWwBi.jpg

We plan to be very responsive to community input about all aspects (including marketing and wallet/messenger design and functionality) and will consider lowering the coin price (since several people have commented on this) as well as the number of coins, but keep in mind that we've priced the coin to be able to provide a budget that covers a full-time commitment over an 18-month+ period from a professional staff of serious designers, programmers and marketers. The kind of quality dev team and the kind of 24/7 commitment that people clearly want. We have to make sure the budget supports that.

Our goal is to make Nectar widely used, especially across college campuses, media institutions and other groups who value secure chat communications. True -- Doge coin reduces all those decimal places, but all those digits shifted before the decimal make for ridiculously large numbers that represent only a few bucks in a way that makes them feel as worthless as Zimbabwe dollars, so we take your point on that. We also think that going in the opposite direction and making the coin too rare goes to more ridiculousness in the other direction. We dont want people having to transact in quadrillionths of a coin. At this point, we think we've struck the right balance or are somewhat close, but it's hard to tell for sure without knowing what the future holds.

td;lr: Looks like we'll stay put.

We are very keen on p2p chat anon but are ambivalent about the state of currenct anon-transactions tech. Yes, the ANON craze has seen a lot of empty promises, delusions and wasted time and BTC. We're not going to involve ourselves in any of that. We will consider your idea, perhaps via the plugin platform that we'll have more to say about in the future.

We love nature pics too! Bees are adorable... from a distance.
The bees are good, the birds are good.  Get rid of the damned infographics.  When people see an ICO with infographics they think scam because infographics usually mean scam.  Also put all of your features in big bold letters at the top of your ANN.

We take your point and mandele's on features up top and will be revising our [ANN] very soon in that regard.

We'll use any excuse we can to inject great nature photography into anything, but there was a specific branding message we wanted to convey with it. Too often crypto is geek/tech-focused. We want to break the mainstream-adoption barrier the way Apple/Windows did for PCs and Apple/Android/Samsung have for mobile phones. We want crypto to be less stale and more rich and bold in color and vision.

Regarding the infographics, our understanding is that infographics are images of roadmaps and such. Are you referring to the user interface images - we feel those are critical. We want to immediately convey that a huge part of what we want to do with this project is develop a fresh, new, intuitive, user-friendly interface that looks and performs nothing like the typical Qt wallet. We feel it's one of our biggest selling points.

As far as infographics, like the kind of roadmap graphics developed by Shadowcoin and Checkcoin, we tend to like them a lot and feel they're really well done. They convey professionalism, class and seriousness. Some of the most obvious coin scams we've seen immediately came across to us as potential scams because of their amateurish graphics. One guy (and you know who you are) clearly copy-pasted random imagery and pawned it off as a "roadmap" using Windows Paint. It was an insult and screamed obvious scam - it happened to be yet another "anon" coin that has thankfully faded from the scene.

Do these things and we'll back you with good posts, good Twitter and other good stuff.  You guys have a winner if you fix some things.  More later.

There's a lot of good food for thought here that we will continue to discuss and digest internally. We really appreciated the time you took to check us out and make the comments and take all constructive criticism very seriously.

http://i.imgur.com/PnPANoq.jpg

Wow, we thought we might be a bit picture-heavy. Glad you appreciate nature photography like we do. Regarding roadmap ETAs, please see our previous comments. We will be providing a roadmap and %-completed updates on a regular basis, but we want to avoid overpromising and underdelivering, so we will avoid giving hard dates. The nature of programming is that you can always run up against unanticipated unknowns that have to be worked through and worked around on unpredictable schedules. But where we're more certain, we'll give more guidance. And again, we'll always be provided "% complete" updates.

Direct 2-way/fiat conversion - we completely agree. And will have more to say on this. The user-friendliness of the system will rely heavily on making use of crypto as easy and the tech as "invisible" to mainstream users as possible. Everything that supports that we can enable we will enable.

You need to enable this now, ASAP.  Only way to real world use.

You are absolutely right about that. Absolutely right. It's even more important for us than other coins because a huge part of what we want to do is make the crypto coin tech less techy, less conspicous to users in the same way that one of the best things about Macs and Windows GUI was getting rid of the DOS command line. The key to getting more adoption is making the crypto coins more usable. They key to making them more usable is not having to jump through hoops to get and spend your coins. We're going to have a graphic that illustrates more of our perspective on this soon.

This, btw, is also part of the reason for the CFC size - we need the coin's markets to have deep liquidity for the coin to be more easily bought and sold by a growing user base without rocking the price massively. We want this to be treated and usable as a serious, liquid currency within a very short time frame.

Coin looks great as does wallet but you cant go charging 8000 - 30,000 on buy first get in cheaper basis.  nobodys gonna wanna pay double or more than the first price.

We do not want this coin exposed to post-CFC dumps and we'd consider narrowing the gap between the early-bird and last-chance price (among other things we're already planning to do to reduce if not eliminate the risk of a post-CFC dump), but we think there's a lot of merit to awarding those who take the greatest risk and buy in first. It also offers a strong incentive to get people to buy into the crowdfund.

Ethereum, SYS (putting aside its current problems) and others had great success with their crowdfunding using a staggered, multi-price release.

If you look at the Ethereum btc wallet chart here around the summer period of the crowdsale
https://blockchain.info/charts/balance?address=36PrZ1KHYMpqSyAQXSG8VwbUiq2EogxLo2
you'll notice that the speed of fundraising tended to accelerate any time the CFC price was about to increase.

And even 8000 sats is pretty damn expensive. Youd be better off having 1 price, much fairer and youd prob raise more in the end.  Good luck raising 2200 BTCs in todays scene with those prices!!??

We really appreciate the compliments and your interest and we're taking all input very seriously. We don't have the all the answers and there are often tradeoffs and uncertainty about what the best course is.

That being said, here's our perspective on the CFC pricing, along the lines of what we've said in our FAQ and elsewhere:

* the CFC price is a max target, not a minimum

* This is not priced like the usual altcoin CFC because we do not want to build "yet another altcoin". We want to build a top coin. We feel that a number of the current top coins are vulnerable and that even bitcoin is vulnerable to being displaced as the top dog, judging from its market action over the past few weeks. Basically, we're requesting 2200BTC because we want to build a high-quality, 2200BTC coin that's worth at least that much.

* We think one of the reasons so many altcoins have failed is because devs do not have the resources to deliver and do everything they've promised and that the community and markets demand of them. They just don't have the budgets required. So either they're scammers who deliberately low-balled and never intended to deliver on grandiose promises -- devs who only ask for as much BTC as they intend to steal rather than what they need to build. Or they're well intentioned devs who didn't plan well for what they were getting into (development-wise, community management-wise, etc) and bit off more than they could chew, so they cut corners, get overwhelmed and eventually bail, getting back to spending their time on something where the reward comes closer to covering the labor. Crypto enthusiasts want a high-quality product from a high-quality team that is responsive and delivers high-quality service. Programming talent and quality customer service is like anything else -- generally, you get what you pay for.

* As mentioned in the [ANN] and as confirmed by Cryptoasian, we're a IT service provider that works on multiple projects for multiple clients at any given time. As part of planning ahead for a long-term commitment to this project, we'll need to divert manpower from other projects and commit schedules for months in advance. BTC has behaved like "just another pump-and-dump altcoin" over the past year. As a logistical necessity, we have to hedge at least somewhat for whatever might happen to bitcoin's price over the next few months to reduce the risk our budget will implode after we've already committed the manpower. BTC isn't what it used to be. 2200BTC isn't what it used to be and we're not 100% certain what its purchasing power might be over the coming year.

* what we've disclosed in the [ANN] is only the start of what we have planned as far as features/functionality and marketing/adoption.

* We don't receive a dime until we deliver on each component

In short, to anyone who thinks that our CFC target is too high, we'd humbly suggest that you think a little bigger and apply a different measuring stick to what we aim to achieve. This wont be shibecoin.

We again welcome all suggestions and comments and appreciate your time and interest.

lol at the attempt to get you to move to Coinblab , dont fall for it!!

Yes, we have our suspicions about Coinblab - we found the way it was being promoted by several twitter celebs in sync with one another a few weeks ago to be highly suspicious. Does anyone know who's actually behind it? We'll still post there and anywhere there might be decent exposure to altcoin enthusiasts, but we're not under any illusions about what might be going on there.

Syscoin's launch could've been better, but we support what they say they're trying to do in the direction of blockchain 2.0 tech and wish them the best.

We are very open to recommendations on other forums that are good to invest time on. We cant post on them all ourselves, so if anyone has any kind of ranking of the ones with the best traffic, please let us know.

I don't trust IPO or ICO of any kind, for most of them are scams.

Sadly, many are. But please do not lump us with the rest. There are those of us who believe there's much more to be gained from doing a good job than scamming people.

We do not understand the short-sighted mentality of scammers - it's obvious to us that there is so much more to be gained by developing a great lifelong reputation in blockchain tech, which we consider the boom market of the future. We want to build an excellent lifelong brand reputation in this space. A lifelong positive reputation in blockchain tech will be worth a lot more over years/decades than a one-time allotment of 2200BTC.

After what's happened in altcoin markets over the past few months, people have very good reason to be cynical and skeptical, but please at least consider the possibility that we might be different from the usual and that many of the things we propose (especially our commitment to PODs, our proposal of a results-based/milestone-based escrow where payment is not released until we deliver and a proposed budget that would cover months of serious commitment by a professional team) are not the kinds of things a scammer would propose.

One of the reasons we're doing this is because we're just as appalled by much of what's happened here and want to demonstrate that there's a much better way of doing things that benefits everyone.

We are happy to address any specific concerns you might have.

If we missed anything in any of our responses above, please let us know. And thank you again for your time and interest. Please keep these helpful comments and suggestions coming.

I see that the dev is very active. I think that it is worthwhile to observe the development of this coin.

Not only that, but he also knows very well what he is talking about and I appreciate that very much. Especially after all the scams that the cryptocurrency scene has gone through.

Here you go, they're beginning to creep around.  This one is a Syscoin bag holder. If your coin manages to grow Syscoin is more in the dirt. They need Bitcointalk to spread FUD.  Coinblab is one choice. There are others. Bitcointalk is a cesspool that will suck you in.

lol at the attempt to get you to move to Coinblab , dont fall for it!!

Nectar isnt a threat to SYS what are you on about?? Completely different coins!! lol

What i dont like are people like Zemerovka and @manelecrypto , who are prob, definitely even, the same person, who lie, manipulate and FUD just so they can Pump & Dump a coin that they hold.  See this Panda thread where People including Zemreovka claim Panda is being used all over Romania in Bars, shops, cafes, taxis etc.. trying to pump Panda, claiming a real world use. All lies, based on some Romanian singer -who surprise surprise ends up being @manelecrypto who supposedly mentioned Panda in an interview, Anington is also @manelecrypto see her posts

I like the look of nectar but think yr right to maybe increase the coins somewhat and lower the price by more than proportionally. The Nectar team seem very clued up and professional. Definitely 1 to keep an eye on. & Fuck Coinblab, lair of P&D'ers .

This is the best wallet I have ever seen. I'm and waiting for more :D
Good luck
It's not a wallet, it's just a picture of what is claimed to be a wallet some day. No idea about anyone else's development process but usually you get all the functionality working before you start to make things look pretty.

Hmm so we must wait until some hard facts, because now it is just nice words.
Anyway i'm looking at this.

I can't believe it, coindevs who can spell and know words other than "Moon!" or "This coin is great!".  Maybe the adults are finally home.

Yep, coinblab is run by the worst of the worst.  Utter scum. Who cares? It is a good way to get your information out and lock out the trolls. They're going to be here in force.  Some are already here pretending to be nice. I recognize the user names.

One other advice: if your coin takes off, mod out the rocket pictures, moon pictures, stupid meme pics, animated gifs and all that garbage.  It only works for Dogecoin.  On other coins it screams "Look, I'm one of the dev's sock puppets!"

Yes, we'll continue to weigh the pros and cons to try to figure out the best tradeoff. More choices are good, but yes, we'd really like to know who specifically is behind Coinblab.

We agree. Under the terms of the results-based, milestone-based escrow, we would not get paid a dime just for words. We'd only be paid based on our delivery of promised results. That's exactly how we roll in IT services work for our clients in the "real world."

I can't believe it, coindevs who can spell and know words other than "Moon!" or "This coin is great!".  Maybe the adults are finally home.

We can also count from 1 to at least 10.

Our approach to all users will be innocent until proven guilty. And, again, we suspect that everyone, including FUDers, have come to realise how much damage they've done to the entire ecosystem by their bad behavior. I think it's dawning on people how much they hurt their own coins. Remember how well DRK used to be doing - before they started attacking XC? Too much bad behavior has shrunk the pie for everyone, including the people who engaged in that bad behavior. We are optimistic that things are turning around and that a lot of bad actors are rethinking whether their past actions have been in their best long-term interest.

Totally, totally agree with you both. I think we hate that more than FUD. It screams "scam" and "no substance here".

i have been watching this myself and would like to make a few comments. i like the coin idea and the way the escrow will be setup to release only after certain milestones are reached, i also like the way you have answered alot of the questions here. but im my opinion the ico phases are terrible.
206,000 x  0.00008 btc per coin
206,000 x   0.00012 btc per coin
2 million coins x .000157 btc per coin
2 million coins x .000188 btc per coin
2 million coins x .000226 btc per coin
2 million coins x .000271 btc per coin
1.5877 million coins x .000300 btc per coin

this is not going to work well at all for anybody that doesnt get a chance to buy in on the first 2 phases someone or group with lots of btc will buy all or most of those coins and dump for good profit killing any chance of a good roi on anyone that buys after. so if left this way people might as well wait for the dumps rather than buy in at 2x 3x the first phase of ico. day traders will arbitrage for just a few hundred sat not mention this spread.  also on the coin blab thought i have used it thinking it would be nice to get away from the fud some here, but that place is even worse it takes things to the other extreme it removes any posts that even disagree with the op and are not fud but the truth, so i won't be going back there again it is for cheerleaders not for people with an opinion on things,  with that said i wish you luck with your project i have been here for awhile and have seen a serious decline in the alt coin projects and markets, and hope some people can bring some things that will make a positive change.

We hear you - we're actually not wedded to this price schedule - only to the fundraising target and the idea that there should be price staggering, of  at least three or four steps, to award early buyers and give people an incentive to buy sooner rather than later to improve the odds the crowdfunding campaign hits its target within the fixed timeframe. We'll look into compressing the schedule and welcome any suggestions along those lines that meet the two conditions.

also on the coin blab thought i have used it thinking it would be nice to get away from the fud some here, but that place is even worse it takes things to the other extreme it removes any posts that even disagree with the op and are not fud but the truth, so i won't be going back there again it is for cheerleaders not for people with an opinion on things,

You know, that's exactly what we suspected might be going on over there, and if that's the case (we have no idea), we agree: we don't want that. An open forum with honest discourse, constructive criticism and mutual respect is all we ask for.

with that said i wish you luck with your project i have been here for awhile and have seen a serious decline in the alt coin projects and markets, and hope some people can bring some things that will make a positive change.

It's pretty depressing - even bitcoin is sickly these days - but we see a new generation of serious projects emerging, including the exciting blockchain 2.0 developments with Ethereum and CounterParty, and we hope to be part of that sea change.

At the risk of mixing metaphors, it's darkest before the dawn.

Nice project, im reading ALL op haha
Are there alpha version? or is onlye a prototype?

Thank you for your interest in the project. There's no alpha, just a raw prototype of the altmarket alert system component (which we previously posted a video of), conceptual designs of the key screens and a basic outline of how we'd build everything out - all put together during our spare time outside of our full-time work in the "real world".

We're seeking funding to be able to devote ourselves full time to building everything out, including an alpha, beta and final version. We need to be clear on this: this is a crowdfunding campaign to build out the software, support it and promote it. And we don't get a dime from it until we deliver on each of the major components.

Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions, and thank you again for your interest.

Just passed through: good work on the ANN. I'd cut it down to one wallet pic. The bug  pix are more interesting. We've all seen pretty wallet mock-ups. No ones believes them or cares anymore.

If i was you I'd get a bank loan and pay some Indians or whatever to get your features working before the ICO. Here's what happens otherwise: people buy in, get hyped then get nothing but a LiteCoin clone and a wallet with an Exchange in it.  They start selling here and there to pay bills, ride a pump, get into some new hype coin. Your price drops and people start selling more.  Pretty soon you've become Gaiacoin.

This same crap is happening with Bitbay. They've got some beavy hitters and no one is shouting "scam" except a few idiots getting paid to do it. Their price is slipping about 10 sat per day because all thsy've got is promises. Bitbay will be dead in a couple of weeks if they don't actually release something.

I guess you're going to stick to Bitcointalk. Your call.

Many thanks for the compliments and again for your time in checking things out. We hear you regarding the pictures, except they're pretty central to the vision we have and the brand image we want to convey. We realise a lot of people have grown cynical and skeptical about "plans", but not everyone, we think. And by posting them now - and delivering on the promises -- people will have a reference point to trust other (bigger) plan we plan to unveil and deliver on in the future. We understand building street cred is not easy in this environment, but we're committed to doing it steadily.

If i was you I'd get a bank loan and pay some Indians or whatever to get your features working before the ICO.

No way. Full stop. Our early reputation in crypto will be riding on how well we do with Nectar. Nectar will be a secure, vetted, commercial-grade application built in Europe - not a... well, we'll just leave it at that. :)

We'd rather run that risk than cut corners and deliver something second-rate we can not vouch for 100%. That's how we roll in our work in the "real world" and in the long run, customers benefit and appreciate our adherence to standards and looking out for their long-term interest (even if they might not have at the start). Also, we have a pre- and post-crowdfunding campaign strategy that will be in place around the time of the CFC.

This same crap is happening with Bitbay. They've got some beavy hitters and no one is shouting "scam" except a few idiots getting paid to do it. We're not familiar with all the details about Bitbay except that their CFC boom seemed heavily reliant on news of the license agreement with Mr. David Zimbeck. Beyond that, I don't think anyone knows anything about the group behind it. We think that might be a big factor behind whatever weakness they might be experiencing now. But we don't know the full details of what's going on out there - just our initial impressions were when they came out of virtually nowhere.

I guess you're going to stick to Bitcointalk. Your call.

Well, let's just say it's wait-and-see, and we don't want to end up like Neos. We're staying open to all platforms, including Coinblab. For now at least. And FUD phasers on stun.

Thanks for taking my stuff seriously. Kind of fun to help build something instead of wrecking.

You didn't get it about the Indians. Every big software company ships their code writing off shore to India, the Philippines, etc to save money. Our mutual friend's country does code writing also for cheap. If you launch with working code you become bigger than bitcoin. Done. Me and her are rich and you guys are like Bill Gates mega-yacht champagne filled swmming pools full of naked supermodels ultrarich.
People don't mind some bugs if stuff basically works especially with alts because no one else has done anything. None of the markets, video chat, VOIP, smart contracts, virtual exchanges, none of it happened.  All bullshit and lies. Get over the perfection thing and hire some Indian dudes. No one believes an ICO that doesn't do somthing right away. Bitbay is slowly proving that despite that fancy guy they hired.

We will take every good idea, every serious piece of feedback and every dose of constructive criticism seriously. Every one on bitcointalk should consider this a "demilitarized zone". We are new here. As such, we do not come with the historical/emotional baggage of whatever has transpired here in the past. We do not come with the arrogance that we know best on everything. And we *do* come with the hope that we can be part of what turns things around by, for starters, setting a good example, a new paradigm, of mutual respect and constructive dialogue that ultimately benefits everyone. tldr: keep the good ideas coming. :)

You didn't get it about the Indians. Every big software company ships their code writing off shore to India, the Philippines, etc to save money. Our mutual friend's country does code writing also for cheap. If you launch with working code you become bigger than bitcoin. Done.

We do hear you. There are many excellent Indian coders - among the top are those who are now doing a major chunk of world's development of software that runs the websites and internals of the world's top multinational banks and other Fortune 500 companies. Yet, there are also many not so great Indian coders. Many.... It's a big country. We are part of the IT services world "in the real world" and an unusually large number of our clients are those who've come to us, despite our higher rates, after experiences with much cheaper coders abroad. We have heard many horror stories. We've seen a lot of bad code. We have the highest regard for Indian culture and what India has achieved over the past decade, as well as what Indians have achieved in many countries worldwide. But our clients' experiences frame our perspective. We'll leave it at that. You mention Eastern Europe - our group has personnel throughout Europe, east and west.

To each his own, but our primary goal is to build a quality product, develop a great following and build a great long-term reputation in crypto. Not a quick fling with champagne, supermodels and a Lambo (again, to each his own, but I think many of us would be embarassed to drive one). That stuff eventually fades. A good reputations lasts and pays dividends for a long, long time. Basically, we want to do what we feel is best for our customers, our careers and our families over the long run.

No one believes an ICO that doesn't do somthing right away. Bitbay is slowly proving that despite that fancy guy they hired.

We again do have a pre-crowdfunding campaign and post-crowdfunding campaign strategy in place. We see the CFC as a branding event that launches the brand reputation of our coin. We also have a very strong perspective of looking out for our customers and treating everyone who buys into the CFC as a valued customer. So we consider it vital that the CFC does well and is perceived widely as a big success and will do everything we can in that regard to make it so. We'll leave it at that for now.

Just some updates:
* we've sharply flattened the crowdfunding campaign (CFC) price schedule, reduced the rate of increase to 8% per step and the number of steps from 7 to 5 to address the excellent points that were made about that.
* we're in talks with the top US altcoin exchanges for listing the crowdfunding campaign.
* We are seeking a reliable, well-connected China-based partner (could be native Chinese or expat) who can assist us with communication, promotion and high-level engagements in China. We are also considering bounties for specific objectives in Asia generally. Please PM us for more details.
* We intend to have a number of other bounties revolving around promotion/adoption efforts worldwide. There'll be more details on this ahead of and after the CFC.

Has the ICO started yet?  It doesn't seem like it has but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

We really appreciate the interest. The negotiations with multiple exchanges is ongoing. We're tentatively expecting a listing next month. We will update everyone as soon as details are confirmed.

Just a message thread policy reminder:
Please do not advertise other coins in our message thread (we had to delete one such reference today), which is for the discussion, criticism, feedback, etc. of NectarCoin. We don't do that to other threads and expect others to pay us the same courtesy. If not, zzzap.

I like your honest approach NectarCoin but I am certain with your ICO prices you will get low traction on what appears to be a great vision.

Also they are many projects that have similar features that can be acquired for much cheaper prices.

If you launched just 3 months ago I would not be posting this but this is just bad timing...

Also with platforms it is no longer an advantage for a coin to have more than 1 or 2 features my advice is that you focus on 1 feature like the altcoin trading and maybe alerts and offer these services over a P2P API to other coins.

I wish you the best regardless and I hope I am wrong...

Thank you very much for your interest in Nectar. Just a few points, some of which have been previously addressed:
--a bicycle and a motorcycle have similar features (steering, two wheels, a seat, pedals, etc.), but they that offer very different user experiences. A lot of messenger programs were offering Skype-like features before Skype offered a unique and compelling execution that really stoked user interest and adoption.
--this is the beginning of our feature set, not the end. A lot of what we have planned has been kept confidential for post-launch. You should see what we're offering as a new, dynamic platform with a specific vision focused on user adoption, not as a fixed set of features.
--This is indeed a challenging time for altcoins. The bad is that people have grown sick of the flood of altcoins and trading volume is low. The good is that people have grown sick of the flood of altcoins and are hungry for something that will break from the pack. There are altcoins. Then there's our coin. We think different - very different. How different will become clearer in the weeks to come.
--we think the world of altcoins is in a lot of flux. We think bitcoin itself is vulnerable and that this entire ecosystem is fair game for the one coin (dev team + community + vision) that acts with integrity, humility and vision and gets it right. We intend to disrupt. This would be designed for popular use - we're aiming for a market and demographic much wider than crypto enthusiasts, including people who've never heard of crypto, or bitcoin for that matter. People who will respond to a much more user-friendly interface than most Qt coin wallets currently out there.

Sorry we had to delete your original post since it advertised other coins - we edited out those references and hope we've been faithful to the core of your remarks and have addressed them fully. We thank you again for your interest and suggestions.

We appreciate that, but we're not sure that counts. We have to earn it. :)

So if your wow comes after we release one of the future milestones, we'll gratefully tally that as a "wow". Thanks so much for your strong interest in the project - we will work hard to earn those wow's.

We'll be providing irregular updates here in our BCT message thread, on our twitter feed and our website as significant developments or progress toward significant developments arise.

All our previous posts: Link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=377321;sa=showPosts)

Update on the crowdfunding campaign (CFC):

We're aiming for a 2- or 3-exchange CFC to improve the odds of hitting our target. We're close to settling details with one exchange and working on two others - back-and-forth communication is a bit slower than we expected. There's some ambivalence within the team about this approach though since, for one thing, it's taking longer than any of us would like and at least one of the exchanges is becoming increasingly associated with pump-and-dumps - which is something we do not want this coin associated with. We welcome everyone's thoughts and suggestions on this as we get close to wrapping this up and moving to the next stage.

Note that once we're over this hump, assuming a successful CFC, the tempo of work and activity will accelerate significantly. We are raring to go on our plans as soon as the funding to support them are in place. We thank everyone again for your interest and apologise for the delay in getting started - not completely within our control, unfortunately.

Update on the crowdfunding campaign (CFC):

We're close to settling details with two of the three exchanges but have one more to go, and we're considering a fourth exchange to improve the odds of hitting our target, or getting close. Again, back-and-forth communication has been a bit slower than we expected going in. These guys are busy and, in part as a result of the many scams this past year, the vetting process appears to be more stringent than it looks like it was in the past - and that's a good thing.

Again, please note that once we're over this hump, assuming a successful CFC, the tempo of work and activity will accelerate significantly. And, as part of the CFC funding period, we're considering offering live upon-request access to our demo alert system to give people a sense of how it would work in the desktop app. We feel that this could provide a significant boost of credibility and enthusiasm during the fund raising period.

As always,we welcome everyone's thoughts on this or any other aspect of our proposals.

Let's just say we're working very diligently to improve the odds no one will label our funding campaign as a pump and dump. We are as disappointed as everyone else has been by what's gone on over the past year and how badly the altcoin ecosystem has been damaged by it all, which is one of the big reasons we decided to move forward with this and do so in a careful and thoughtful manner.

IPO/ICO whatever you wanna call it is a scam... non minable coins are essentially just unregistered securities. :\ look it up

First of all, let's agree to be mutually respectful of one another and to keep the discussion civil.

We understand many people have been burned here. We understand there have been many bad devs and a lot of frayed nerves. We are, as we type, dealing with the consequences of that in our discussions with exchanges that are more stringent (thankfully) than they've apparently been in the past.

But where we come from, you don't accuse someone you've never met, someone who hasn't been involved in any of what's gone up to this point, and call their efforts a "scam."

Now, on your point of non-minable coins/unregistered securities. This is crowdfunding/pre-sale of an application.

You might want to look that up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowdfunding

As always, we welcome any substantive questions about our proposal and thank you for your interest.

(((HOLY SMOKES >>> TL;DR)))

so this is going to ride on top of NXT asset system ?  I just noticed a few leaked pieces of intellectual property in your project i find amusing!!!   :)   basically we are talking software that does something... you are promising to develop a working form of "digital currency" right? you want the cash up front? hmmmm

1) We're promising to deliver a desktop application including functions such as messaging, market alerts and more that include digital currency but go beyond it, as we outlined pretty thoroughly.
2) Cash up front? No, escrow up front that would be held by a trusted third party who'd released portions of the escrow as we delivered on each of the milestones. Please read the [ANN] section regarding the crowdfunding campaign. We state this very clearly several times.
3) "I just noticed a few leaked pieces of intellectual property". A vague allegation with no specifics or evidence. Our designs are all original work.

I think you're our first FUDer. Zzaap.

answer my post then delete it? lol .. you are hopeless ! :\  nice graphics lol

Thank you. We're trying to maintain a balance between being transparent and keeping the thread uncluttered. I think all FUD posters will get at least one chance to air their views, to which we'll respond. But at some point, if a particular user becomes a recurring source of redundant FUD spam, we'll remove it and all references entirely and will blacklist the user. We welcome substantive discussion and constructive criticism of NectarCoin.

I note that you operate from within the EU, have you taken legal advice on whether there is enough distance between the brand identity of Nectar coin and that of Nectar points?

It's probably too late to change the regrettable choice of brand name but I strongly urge you to make some basic visual changes to establish a lot of “clear, blue water” between “Nectar” (the coin) and “Nectar” (the points).

Cheers

Bter had been one of the exchanges we were talking to about the crowdfund. We don't know all the facts, but the allegations coming out on bitcointalk and twitter about Bter and Bitbay are troubling. Our condolences to those who've been affected by what might have happened there.

This sort of thing not only damages the coinholders immediately impacted. They hurt all of us - it makes it harder for those of us who want to bring real innovation and value added to this space to get the support and confidence we need to make our project a success.

We're new to this crypto space and for us the crowdfund has never just been about raising funds. Although that's important, the bigger function was to serve as promotional/marketing event - an introduction of our brand to a larger audience.

We want a clean launch that's seen as a clean launch. Nectar aims to be a bright light in the troubled world that is crypto today.

Needless to say, after today's allegations, we are no longer interested in having our CFC co-hosted on bter and not interested in having our coin listed there unless the allegations involving bter and Bitbay are conclusively proven false.

Judging by what we've read, that seems pretty unlikely.

To our community, we'd say this - it's darkest before the dawn. We intend on bringing a breath of fresh air to the world of altcoins as soon as we possibly can.

As you can see from my signature I'm involved with BitBay from ICO on and it feels good to see someone seeing how this not only hurts investors, but the whole cryptocommunity. Nevertheless the team got rid of Bobsurplus and company. In how much BTer is involved has yet to be investigated, but I would suggest to be cautious when dealing with them.

I also believe in Nectarcoin and what it stands for and that's why I watch for the launch and hoping for more transparency then BitBay has shown up until now.

Do you have anything relevant to the development progress to post other than fancy photoshops?

Thank you for your interest in Nectar. We've developed the core of the alert system, which we reported on in the [ANN] (including YouTube video). Beyond that, we've been focused on trying to set up good conditions for a successful launch.

We're pretty clear in the [ANN] and in several posts that the very purpose of the crowdfund is to cover the cost of our full-time commitment to development, marketing, legal and other costs associated with building out a commercial grade platform. We will build what the market demonstrates it's ready and willing to pay for on a full time basis when it's clear to us the support is there. This would not be a part-time, low-commitment hobby project for us.

This project is presented to the community as a proposal to be funded - if it's escrow funded, we build it. And we don't get a dime from escrow until we hit each of the milestones.

Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.

Where is Nectarcoin Open-Source code ?

Thank you for your interest in NectarCoin. At this point, there is only the alert system demo (which we'll provide live front-end access to within a couple days - you can sign up for an invite here: http://nectarcoin.com/try-out-the-alert/), our concepts and our plans at this point.

Placeholder wallet code will be provided around the time of the crowdsale, but this project is presented as a crowdsale proposal to be funded and paid for on a multisig-escrow / payment-upon-milestone-delivery basis. Our position here would be one of a contracted service provider hired by those who buy into the crowdsale to build this all out on a full-time basis and paid in portions only upon delivery of each milestone (that's how we roll in the real world: http://proofofdev.com/sweet-nectarcoin/ - the code CryptoAsian references here is the alcoin alert system code).

Feel free to let us know if that remains unclear -- as we try to make this clear in the [ANN] and others have asked -- or let us know if you have any other questions
Happy new year!

Nectar aims to be Crypto's first real decentralised, p2p alternative
to Skype, Slack and event-predictions markets such as (the currently inactive) Intrade.
We believe this array of features will compliment each other very well in encouraging adoption.

Big updates are down below. We can now announce the following:

1) The crowdsale will be January 12 with Bittrex as the lead host (70% of the crowdsale distribution) and details close to being settled with two remaining hosts (30% of the crowdsale distribution)*.

2) The "R&D involving "undisclosed features" features referenced in the "open-ended" milestone (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=812124.msg9090897#post_crowdfunding) involves work toward the development of decentralised, peer-to-peer "Slack.com" functionality and decentralised "Intrade"-like event-predictions markets. We will be updating the [ANN] shortly on the major significance of these features. In some sense, much of the functionality we've mentioned publicly has been about building critical mass toward these two major objectives, particularly the event-predictions market.

3) The crowdsale target is being raised to 2800BTC* based on several factors:

  • We want the means to more quickly commit R&D to developing decentralised Slack.com-like business messaging functionality and decentralised Intrade-like event-prediction markets. We had budgeted from the start for preliminary R&D work on these fronts, but really feel it is important to make this a bigger and quicker priority as it dovetails so well with the overriding goal of encouraging mainstream adoption, and we believe accelerating trends in geopolitics and business make this imperative. There are significant technical challenges and uncertainties to be overcome on both fronts, but we will explain in greater detail why decentralised solutions are also vital on these two particular fronts, and will be increasingly be seen as vital (and valuable) by a lot more people over the coming year.
  • As we've expected, BTC leadership edge is waning, but BTC's market value may be weakneing even faster than we anticipated. We feel we need to hedge for the possibility it will weaken further and possibly sink well to the $200's.
  • Initial response to our first-wave marketing campaign (currently focused on prominent bitcoin holders and decision makers, and soon to be focused on altcoin news media) has been much more positive than anticipated (text is here: http://nectarcoin.com/wp-content/uploads/newsletter/nect.html). We're a bit more confident that the market seriously wants and might support professional, commercial-grade alternatives that are seriously focused on real mainstream adoption, as well as crowdsales carefully structured to ensure delivery on promises and limit exchange risk to coin buyers

4) A raw, online, partial demo of our alert system is available on an invite basis. If interested, please see the form here: http://nectarcoin.com/try-out-the-altcoin-alert/

Again, the [ANN] will soon be updated for all of these new developments, including details on how the crowdsale will be structured and more detail on the previously undisclosed functionality.

Looking ahead, we want to be clear: We don't and won't have all the answers. We don't have all the right answers. No one does. Not at the outset. But that is the beauty of crypto and decentralised systems. Wisdom can be found anywhere and everywhere and discovery opens the door to the surprises that come with true innovation. So, as always, we welcome constructive criticism, feedback, suggestions and your participation in what we all hope will be a breath of fresh air for crypto.

As we say in our open letter:

"We aim to rewrite the rules of crypto, starting with how a coin is launched, how its ecosystem is sustained and how supporters of a coin project should be treated by developers - as clients, worthy of attention and respect. 2015 is a new year, and our new year's resolution is to do our part to help restore crypto to its vast potential."

We welcome anyone of good will to join us as our marketing campaign moves into full swing.

Notes:
*still being settled, but we're close to wrapping

Why? It's all bla bla bla, nothing concrete, pure marketing talk, yet to see something technical/tangible. The alert 'system' looks like its made by some teenager.

Thank you for your interest in NectarCoin. We realise there's a lot of cynicism across this forum, and it's justified after all that's happened on so many fronts over the past year. But what we've said here and elsewhere is hardly just marketing talk - we've offered a concrete outline (including a raw demo of our alert system) and a concrete plan to build something innovative that could really break the adoption barrier and in a way that shields coin buyers from both exchange and non-delivery risk. There would be no one-time, up-front release of escrow - we wouldn't get a dime until we deliver on each of the components.

As for the alert system, fortunately the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive (in fact, yours is the first negative feedback we've seen so far), and as we clearly say it's only a raw introductory demo as a preview to what we'd propose to build on a full-time basis if the market supports our concept.

Thank you again for your interest in NectarCoin - we welcome any specific, constructive feedback.

Cool, I'm keeping an eye on this one.

Thanks for your interest - feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Don't worry about the FUD. Keep on with your plans. You seem to have ambition, motivation and good, innovative ideas. Just try to show a bit more of your work, to convince people that your project is as promising as it seems to be. Good luck!

We're anxious to do just that - of course the very purpose of the crowdsale is to get the support needed to commit to this full-time to build out our vision, and do so expeditiously, or there'd be no reason for the crowdsale. We thank you for the kind words of support and the feedback.

The cynicism comes from my common sense, I have masters in CS and this kind of talk does not work for me, I want technical details, whitepapers and pseudocode. Photoshops and optimistic projections just makes me suspicious.

If you can take the time to check my posts you'll notice that I'm not the kind of troll that just spreads FUD for the fun of it.

Please read the [ANN] carefully - a whitepaper/roadmap is one of the milestones. As for the rest, we have to start somewhere - and a key point is to make things as concrete and non-abstract as we can at this stage to non-technical people. The key audience we want to address is non-technical users in and outside of crypto circles.

Also, you'll notice we did not describe your post as FUD and have repeatedly welcomed and addressed constructive criticism that is mutually respectful.

Project looks interesting.  There was a time when people would have jumped all over it.  But too many scams, too little trust, and too little investment in the alt-scene these days.  If you need 2800 BTC for this project, just put it on indefinite hold until market conditions improve.  No ICO has a chance in hell of raising those kinds of funds right now, unless it were Satoshi himself selling BTC 2.

::)

so many promises and he can't even deliver the IPO

I emailed them (they respond pretty darn quick) -- they said they were postponing the crowdsale until conditions improve and that they're focused on broadening awareness in the meantime to improve odds of success. Seems wise if you look where things are with bitcoin and altcoins right now. Not a great market for a crowdsale, like someone else here said.

They also said they've been having issues with bitcointalk, which is why they haven't updated here, and that they'll continue to update through their website, coinblab, twitter and reddit.
