Title: 72 Hour ŁTC Auction for 1 Silver Dime 1962
Post by: str4wm4n on May 13, 2012, 02:42:05 AM
Since Litecoin is supposed to be the silver to Bitcoins gold, I have up for auction a 1962 silver dime.

Bidding starts at 500 ŁTC and bids should be in at least 25 ŁTC increments

Bidding will end Tuesday May 15th @ 11pm Eastern.

It will be promptly mailed to the winner via regular mail. Shipping outside of the US will cost more

Good luck and happy bidding!

BTW, 1962 Roosevelt Silver Dime (in perfect condition) will cost less that $1.80 $1.40 in Amazon :)
I like to have one but overseas S&H will make this trade pointless. How much will stamp and a letter envelope costs you for a overseas mail?

My bet: 501 LTC
395 Ł

PS! Any proof you actually have it?

According to http://coinflation.com a Roosevelt Silver dime is currently worth $2.0862 in silver.

I was hoping the sign i made next to it would be proof enough but, do you have any suggestions
as to how to prove it more?

MarketNeutral has the current high bid with 550Ł

Seeing LTC in play makes me happy! Therefore, I bid 600 LTCs.  ;D

(should it be Ł600 or 600Ł?)

I bid Ł625.

There are exceptions, but a currency sign typically appears before the quantity, with fractional division signs coming in the middle of afterwards.

$3.20 for three dollars, twenty cents.
20¢ for twenty cents.
$.20 for twenty cents.

Or, pre-decimisation sterling, £3.10s. for three pounds, ten shillings.
Or, alternately, £3/18/11¾d for thee pounds, eighteen shillings, elevenpence three farthings.

The euro's complications are not really worth detailing, as they are many and tedious:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistic_issues_concerning_the_euro

Since litecoin is not a a division of bitcoin, Ł should precede the number.

For abbreviations, such as USD, CHF, BTC, LTC (or ŁTC), the placement of the abbreviation is more based upon local convention. Many banks write USD3.20 but many people write 3.20 USD.

Thank you for your very informative response, MarketNeutral.

With that being said and done, I bid Ł650.  :D

This auction IS really fun! Thanks for holding it, str4wm4n. Perhaps I'll hold my own!  ;D

edit: LOL, I thought it was over already. Shows how exhausted I was last night, sorry!

Yes and wasn't it you who made the 6 month comment? Well we are at 4 months now.

We'll see where LTC is at in November.
