Title: Mining and youtube
Post by: ddd1 on May 18, 2012, 06:46:41 AM
My 7950 I get 425mhash when using CGminer and I:7, when using the PC putting I:d gives stable windows 7 and 385mhash.

Everything works beside youtube, it used to lock to 500mhz core until I unchecked hardwareacceleration in youtube.

But now it instead puts the core clock to 300mhz while CGminer is running and load drops to 0% 0mhash, is there anyway to use youtube, the AMD 7950 is powerful enough have 90% load on cgminer and 10% load for everything else....

Maybe I need to turn hardwareaccleretaion back on and accept 500mhz and 100-200mhash while watching videos.

Yes, I think you should do that too.
What is the point of this thread? You answered your own question.

or you can make youtube html5 only flash does that, granted not every video will play in html5 but most will.

Just right click in the middle of a flash video, hit settings and disable hardware acceleration. I had the same problem when trying to mine on my workstation and that solved it 100% and my hash rate never suffered again....and your clocks shouldn't change if you are already running custom clocks while mining (mine didn't), then starting a video.
Of course, I am running some serious CPU(s), so your results may differ...lol

What? How does that help? Flash is the problem, not HTML4 or 5.

exactly, you can stop using flash all together with the HTML 5 video which doesn't use GPU, it is the option that worked best for me when I was having flash issues with my miner.

Right click the youtube vid and goto settings.... Uncheck hardware acceleration. <--- worked for me.... try adding the -f 60 flag if your using guiminer
