Title: WTB Old Pokemon Cards
Post by: SaltySpitoon on May 20, 2012, 01:48:58 PM
Hello, well I have decided I want to relive the 90s and early 2000s by collecting a few Pokemon cards of my childhood. So what I'm looking to buy is the old pokemon cards, you all know you have them sitting in a box in your attic. I am interested in all of the Base 1, Fossil, Jungle, Team Rocket, Base 2 Cards, and Legendary Collection (base 3). I'm not interested in any cards after the first 152 pokemon. If you have any that you are interested in selling, pm me, and help me rebuild my childhood collection.

I'm still buying more old Pokemon cards, pm me if when you come across your old cards in your attic/basement, and want to get some BTC for them.

Yes, yes I am, PM sent.

Damn, I used to have the first edition holo-foil Blastoise. It's probably worth a lot of money nowadays but it is gone forever :(

Why Blastoise? WHYYY!!!??

:'( I would have bought that up in a second, I decided I'm going to complete my childhood dream of having a complete collection (Of the old cards) including one of each card, and one of each 1st edition card, one of each holofoil, and one of all of those types from the original sets. I have a feeling this won't be pleasant.

I have to say, I didn't quite expect so many PMs so quickly, I'm definitely not complaining, as I'm loving all of these old cards popping up. I'm still pretty much buying any of the old cards so if you have any for sale, feel free to pm me. I'll start being selective once I have all of the cards Iv ordered in hand, so hurry up if you have them and want to sell them all.

May I ask how much you've spent on all the cards so far.

Uhmm, about 10 BTC so far, with a few other 10 BTC deals in the works. Iv got a decent amount of very nice cards, and I thank all of the sellers who want to see me act like a 8 year old when I open up my packages, and see all of the old pokemon cards.

If I didn't mention it in this thread, I may have in another related thread, but Mushroomized is my neighbor, and he said If I don't start playing pokemon with him, he would beat me, so for the sake of my body, sell me those cards!

I had the 2nd rarest card in the game - a Ninetales error card (no attack value 80 printed on it).  Recently sold it for $250... not bad!  Everything else of my collection I sold when I was 14 or 15, but I kept that one card hoping it'd be worth a lot someday.

Nice, when did you sell it? I see the only one on Ebay right now is $150. My new goal is to own every single card, of every edition and variety.

Last October, IIRC.

I had it graded though, and it came back a grade 9.  But having it graded immediately adds to the value.

Daily Bump. I'm starting to have my collection fill up, but I will still be purchasing ALL old cards until I physically have the ones I have already ordered in my hand. So if you have Old Pokemon Cards, heres your chance to offload them, before I start getting all selective.

I did, a few days ago. Unless I made a mistake that is, either way, sorry about that, PMed.

Are you looking for any old Pokemon cards or are you just holding out for some specific ones?

As of now, I'm just looking for all of them. In a week or so, I will have approximately 2,000 cards after all of my current orders arrive, and I will start being more selective. But for now, I'm just buying them all, and dealing with the doubles (in my case x80 of each card perhaps)

Might be possible with the groudons and houndooms coming your way ;)

Well, I have a few other orders, one of about 1000 cards, and a few 200-300 card orders coming in. I'm not sure what to do with the Groudons and Houndooms, I'll probably trade them to some 10 year olds for some old cards.

That's cool. I'll stop by my parents' and pick up some tomorrow. :D

How much are you offering for them?

Damn, kinda wish I hadn't sold all of mine for a penny apiece at a garage sale ~10 years ago.  I think at that point we were using them for cards to clip to the spokes of our bikes, hehe.

(for the record, I was born in 1990, so I was in 2nd grade or so when Pokemon Red/Blue came out, never expected anyone to care about the cards or the Burger King Pokeball toys at the time)

Same, I was born in 94, so I was about 5 when the first set came out, and was probably 6 or so when I started collecting them. I gave away my entire collection to a friend about 4 years ago, and now I really regret it. So yeah I'm rebuilding my childhood through these cards, and avoiding getting beaten by Mushroomized by purchasing said cards.

:'( Damn FedEx, May 26th, package arrives 10 miles from my house in sorting facility. The status says that is has shipped and is in transit for Delivery. I figure cool, it will be here today, probably early afternoon since its coming from such a short distance away. Nope, it doesn't arrive, and it still says In transit for Delivery even though its now Sunday, and they don't deliver on Sundays. Oh, and is Monday a federal holiday? So I guess they won't be here until Tuesday. Damn FedEx...

That's going to be hard - for example, we have one of the holo unknowns that were given away with one of the early movies.

Otherwise, probably 1000 cards sitting in the garage from the series one decks.  (disclaimer - it's my daughter who is the long time, core poke-nut.  Our first visit to a Poke-Centre in Tokyo was really funny as she had to look at everything all at once)

Lucky for me, I only want the 1st generation cards. I want every card from Base, Jungle, Fossil, Base 2 and possibly rocket/legendary collection (base 3).

I think its somewhat do able.

I think I still have the card list (unlikely to still have the box) for Jungle and Fossil (and base).  We had a few of the original sets - I can have a look in a few days.  It's not like you're after the collection of plastic figures - there's a lot of those!!
