The controversial altcoin exchange mcxNOW has just announced that it will be closing for maintenance November 15th to address problems with the exchange’s wallets.

Today, a notice appeared on the company’s homepage saying that customers should withdrawal their coins before the deadline or risk losing them forever.

"All wallets here will be removed to make way for a new wallet system meaning you will need to withdraw all your cryptocurrency holdings prior to this cutoff point. Any coins left in mcxNOW at the cutoff point will be destroyed."

The announcement also states that some currently supported coins will not return.

"Existing wallets and all backups are going to be shredded to maintain privacy of users. Some coins currently on mcxNOW will not return. Thank you for your patience while we try to keep mcxNOW one of the best platforms for cryptocurrency.'

A discussion thread on bitcointalk.org created by usahero is questioning the timing and motives of the site's administrator.

"The scam site known for selling illegal securities, insider trading, money laundering, verbally abusing its clients and leading a cult-like long term scam conspiracy, is temporarily closing its doors due to incompetence of the main administrator and site creator."

Yesterday, it was reported the company had recently lost 350 million dogecoin (worth $85,000) due to its failure to update exchange wallets before the client update. The exchange, which is popular with MaxCoin traders, is operated by an individual using the online moniker 'RealSolid'. Very little is known about this person other than he is based in Australia.

Big problem with telling people they need to withdraw all their coins is that some of the site's wallets do not work and people are unable to withdraw.
(I put in a withdraw for 500 WDC 8 weeks ago and RealSolid has still not been able to fix the wallet to process it...People have had problems with other coins, as well.)

I try to withdraw about 10k of CLR and they are not appear in blockchain... How to contact with admin of mcxnow?

I think we are just out of our coins for good.
Lessoned learned. The old forum guard warned us about RealSolid, I was too stupid to listen.
Guess we sometimes need to learn the hard way...

In my opinion, Cryptsy.com is the most solid Altcoin exchange in operation.

There is no such thing as a "trustworthy altcoin exchange". Keep your coins in the wallets or cold storage.

This wasn't exactly the question, there' surely sort of a ranking, I think.
Of course I already do so. My „crypto-fortune“ isn't really big, and for the main part I hold the keys, not some exchange.

I had some old buy orders being executed due to panic sells on MCX when the announcement came… Anything I cannot sell for a reasonable price must obviously be transferred elsewhere soon. I've got some START, MNC, PPC, and few DOGE now, and I haven't yet set up wallets/cold storage for any of those, and now I wonder where I could sell these funds for BTC.

Since I've read something negative about Cryptsy somewhere, and I haven't found an exchange for all of the above currencies, I simply asked here.

I'm holding only around 0.23…0.28 BTC in total on MCX, but I don't like to give that all to RS. Internal MCX transfers do work and cost nothing, so I offer hereby to transfer my "interest and fee dividend dust" on LTC, XPM, DVC, CL accounts to someone owning enough to withdraw. If you want, you can give back some START, DOGE, PPC, BTC, MNC.

As you can see, I was just playing around a bit, not trying to make a huge fortune by trading cryptocoins.

Well, he's registered as "TheRealSolid" here, and I already left negative feedback due to his last actions on his exchange. Doesn't really change something, but I suggest you should do the same, even if he hasn't stolen money from you in the normal sense of the word.

He answered to me about 3 or 4 days ago. He said something like "I'm working on it, sir" but still no changes in blockchain. I think it's just a scam - to force everyone to withdraw and steal all funds.  "it's techical troubles", yeap.

That's the way to go man, just keep it under control , and play safe !
